Chapter 229: This Request is Too Luxurious
by xennovel“Little…”
As he opened the door, Zhou Hu could only utter a single word before the rest got stuck in his throat. He slowly began to retreat.
A handgun was pointed directly at his forehead.
“What are you trying to do?!”
Zhou Hu forced himself to stay calm. He knew he had been careless.
As expected, women cause nothing but trouble!
Bang!
Long Yi slammed the handgun against the back of Zhou Hu’s head, and Zhou Hu passed out immediately.
The three of them then turned off the lights, carried Zhou Hu out of the room, and carefully closed the door behind them.
Throughout the entire process, the bodyguards in the room next door didn’t notice a thing.
………
When Zhou Hu woke up again, he found himself on a rooftop. His hands and feet were tightly bound, and the cold wind cut against his face, stinging his skin.
“Awake now?”
Xu Shaochen looked at Zhou Hu and gave him a small smile.
“What do you want? I’m warning you, you better let me go!”
Zhou Hu gritted his teeth as he spoke, but his heart was racing in panic.
“Let you go? That’s too luxurious of a request. How about you ask for something else and see if I can grant it?”
Xu Shaochen scoffed disdainfully. This whole ordeal started with Zhou Yun, so it should end with him.
Even if Zhou Hu wanted revenge, coming after him would have been enough. But to try and kill his mother?
That was unforgivable. For that alone, Zhou Hu had to die, and the Zhou Family had to be destroyed.
“This is the rooftop of the thirty-third floor. The wind is quite strong up here, and I drove all the way here just for you. Tell me, what do you think would happen if you fell from here?”
Xu Shaochen lifted Zhou Hu, pressing him against the edge of the rooftop. His tone was casual, as if they were discussing the weather.
“Gulp—”
Zhou Hu swallowed hard, a cold sweat breaking out on his forehead. He looked at Xu Shaochen and said, “Let me go. We’ll call it even. I promise the Zhou Family won’t pursue you any further.”
He needed to live. As long as he lived, he could still exact revenge on Xu Shaochen, making his life a living hell.
“I know what you’re thinking: survive now by humbling yourself, then get back at me a hundredfold or a thousandfold later, right?” Xu Shaochen turned his head and looked at Zhou Hu, a mocking smile on his face.
Zhou Hu forced a stiff smile, shaking his head. “No, no, no, I never thought about that. I didn’t even want to come after you. My family forced me into it. We have no personal grudges, but I had no choice!”
“You have to die. The Zhou Family has to be destroyed. But the rest of the Zhou Family won’t die, because they didn’t take action themselves. Those who act, die. Couldn’t you just stay out of trouble?” Xu Shaochen patted Zhou Hu’s face, coldly dropping the words before turning and heading downstairs.
“Don’t go! Come back! Come back! I was wrong! I don’t want to die! Please, spare me! Please!”
Zhou Hu screamed at Xu Shaochen’s retreating back, his face turning deathly pale, filled with terror and panic.
His people had failed to kill Xu Shaochen’s mother at the Hospital yesterday. He was planning on sending more men to finish the job that night.
He intended to let them spray bullets everywhere, even killing Long Si outside the ward.
But he didn’t expect Xu Shaochen to strike first.
“Ahhhhh!”
In the dark of night, a terrified scream echoed out as Zhou Hu “accidentally” fell from the building.
………
“Where did you go last night? When did you return?”
The next morning, Linda looked at Xu Shaochen and asked.
“Had some business to deal with. I came back after a little while.” Xu Shaochen replied while getting dressed.
Seeing that he didn’t want to say more, Linda nodded and dropped the matter, helping him straighten his collar.
After breakfast, just as Xu Shaochen was about to head to School, he received a call from Zhao Qingfeng.
This surprised him. It was normal for Zhao Qingyu to call him, but this was the first time Zhao Qingfeng had contacted him.
“Little Brother-in-law, what’s up?” Xu Shaochen answered the phone.
“Brother-in-law, do you have some time? Our Principal wants to meet you.”
Yes, under Xu Shaochen’s influence, Zhao Qingfeng had completely fallen for his tactics. Without hesitation, he sold out his sister by calling Xu Shaochen Brother-in-law.
“Why does he want to meet me?” The title Brother-in-law sounded pretty good; Xu Shaochen thought Zhao Qingyu should hear it too.
“Um… I’m not really sure either, Brother-in-law. If you’re busy, forget it. I’ll just turn him down.” Zhao Qingfeng stammered, clearly a bit nervous.
Xu Shaochen said, “After breakfast, I’ll head to your School. Send me your Principal’s contact information.”
Now that he was being called Brother-in-law, it wouldn’t be right for Xu Shaochen to refuse.
“Okay, I’ll send it to you right away.”
After finishing breakfast, Xu Shaochen instructed Long Yi to drive towards Zhao Qingfeng’s School.
At the School gate, Xu Shaochen dialed the Principal’s number.
“Hello, Principal Liu, this is Xu Shaochen…”
“Hello, Chairman Xu. I’m terribly sorry, but I have an urgent meeting. Could you please wait for me in the office? I’ll be there soon. I’m really sorry.”
Before Xu Shaochen could even finish speaking, the voice of Liu Xin, filled with apologies, came through the phone.
“That’s fine, Principal Liu. You go ahead with your meeting, no rush.”
Xu Shaochen replied in a gentle tone. He could tell that Liu Xin genuinely didn’t mean to keep him waiting; it was just an unexpected situation.
“Thank you for understanding, Chairman Xu.”
After hanging up, Xu Shaochen inquired about the location of the Principal’s office and made his way there.
He opened the door, stepped inside, and then closed it behind him. Xu Shaochen began to survey the interior of the office.
The office was spacious but sparsely furnished, giving it an empty feel. There was just a desk, two chairs, a bookshelf, a water dispenser, and a few pots of decorative green plants. Nothing else.
From the way the office was set up, Xu Shaochen could tell that Liu Xin was a straightforward and decisive principal.
Xu Shaochen had a pretty good idea why Liu Xin wanted to meet him.
There was a calligraphy piece hanging on the wall, signed by Liu Xin. It seemed this principal was also someone who valued self-cultivation and had excellent penmanship.
“Click—”
Just then, the office door opened again, and a young man wearing a black suit walked in holding a folder.
“Which class are you in? Who gave you permission to barge into the Principal’s office? Do you even know whose office this is? Get out, now!”
When the young man saw Xu Shaochen, he was momentarily stunned, then his expression hardened, and he barked out the order.
Just as Xu Shaochen was about to greet him, the scolding left him dumbfounded. He frowned and asked, “Who are you?”
“You don’t know who I am?” The young man raised an eyebrow, looking incredulous.
Xu Shaochen found it even more unbelievable. “Are you that famous? Do I have to know you?”
