Chapter 230: Principal Liu’s Motive
by xennovel“I am the Student Council President, Yang Liang!” The young man declared proudly, with a loud voice full of confidence.
“Yang Liang?” Xu Shaochen gave him a once-over. Suit and tie, very prim and proper. He actually looks the part.
Upon hearing this, Yang Liang shouted angrily: “Who gave you the right to call me by name? It’s Chairman Yang to you!”
Xu Shaochen: “…”
It’s just a small Student Council President position, yet he’s so full of himself.
“Fine, Chairman Yang. You may be mistaken about something. I’m not a student at this school.” Xu Shaochen smiled casually at Yang Liang, not planning to argue with him.
“Not a student, and you dare enter the principal’s office? Outrageous! What are the security guards doing, letting in a random person like you!” Yang Liang said with a dark expression, his tone making it sound like he was the principal.
Xu Shaochen’s face also darkened: “Bro, enough is enough. With your trivial position, are you seriously acting so high and mighty? The principal asked me to wait here.”
“Oh really? Any proof of that? I have reason to suspect you’re here to steal something.” Yang Liang looked at Xu Shaochen coldly. He was obsessed with power, and being Student Council President was a source of immense pride for him.
Xu Shaochen calling him a “trivial position” was the ultimate insult, something he could not tolerate.
More so, he couldn’t believe that the busy principal would actually meet with a young kid.
Xu Shaochen frowned and turned away, choosing not to argue further. He feared he might not be able to resist punching him.
Seeing Xu Shaochen ignore him, Yang Liang became even more furious, sneering: “Why so silent now? Feeling guilty after I exposed you? I’ve seen plenty of people like you.”
“Don’t mistake my courtesy for weakness. Being Student Council President might make you smug, but to me, you’re nothing.” Xu Shaochen turned around and said coldly, barely containing his urge to punch this conceited fool.
Yang Liang wore a mocking grin: “Oh really? I’ve been Student Council President for three years. What have you achieved? Can you compare to me?”
“Click—”
At that moment, the door to the office opened, and a middle-aged man in a black suit hurried in.
“Principal, here’s the list you asked me to prepare.”
Yang Liang quickly walked over and respectfully handed over the folder in his hand.
“Just place it on the desk.”
Liu Xin said casually, with a smile on his face, extending his hand to Xu Shaochen: “Chairman Xu, my apologies for keeping you waiting. This was entirely my fault for not managing my time properly. I’m truly sorry.”
“You’re too polite, Principal Liu. With such a large school and so many students, it’s completely understandable.” Xu Shaochen extended his hand and shook Liu Xin’s with a smile.
Yang Liang, standing nearby, was utterly dumbfounded, his mind going blank.
What did he just witness?
The principal of his school was treating Xu Shaochen, a mere young man, with such respect, almost placing him on equal footing. How is that even possible?
“Principal, what… what is going on here?” Yang Liang asked dumbfoundedly.
Liu Xin smiled and replied: “Xiao Yang, didn’t you suggest that the school could collaborate with quality enterprises to arrange student internships? This gentleman here is none other than Chairman Xu of Chen Yu Company.”
Boom! Yang Liang felt as if his brain had been hit hard with a sledgehammer. His eyes glazed over as he stared at Xu Shaochen.
In whatever scenario he had imagined, he never thought Xu Shaochen was the chairman of Chen Yu Company.
He’d had this idea after seeing Zhao Qingfeng enjoying excellent internship opportunities. He also wanted to intern at Chen Yu Company, hoping to secure a management position someday.
But never in his wildest dreams did he think the chairman of Chen Yu Company would be standing right in front of him, and so young.
“Chairman Xu, this is Yang Liang, the president of our school’s Student Council. He’s highly capable in many aspects.” Liu Xin introduced Yang Liang to Xu Shaochen.
Xu Shaochen just smiled lightly and said noncommittally: “Chairman Yang certainly looks impressive. Since Principal Liu speaks so highly of you, you must be quite competent.”
Yang Liang’s face turned all sorts of colors. His words fell on his ears as pure ridicule.
Thinking back, he had just been flaunting his position as Student Council President in front of Xu Shaochen, feeling mighty and proud.
But compared to Xu Shaochen, his small achievements were utterly insignificant. Xu Shaochen, so young, was already the head of a large company. Meanwhile, he was merely a minor Student Council President.
The gap between the two was so immense, and yet, the ridiculous thing was, he had just been boasting in front of Xu Shaochen.
“Xiao Yang, what’s with the silence? Hurry and thank Chairman Xu for his compliment.” Liu Xin frowned as he noticed Yang Liang wasn’t speaking.
He personally liked Yang Liang quite a bit, which is why he wanted to take this opportunity to recommend him to Xu Shaochen. But today, for some reason, Yang Liang seemed completely off, lacking the usual acumen.
Yang Liang finally snapped out of it, forcing a stiff smile: “Th–Thank you for the compliment, Chairman Xu.”
His heart was filled with bitterness. Today, he had been completely crushed by Xu Shaochen. His small achievements seemed so insignificant in front of someone like him.
Having offended a big boss, how could he ever hope to work at Chen Yu Company? It was pure fantasy.
Actually, he was overthinking it; Xu Shaochen wouldn’t make things difficult for him over something so trivial.
If he could pass the HR interview, it would mean his abilities were recognized. There’s no way Xu Shaochen would block him from working at the company over such a small matter. “Alright, Xiao Yang, you can go now. Chairman Xu and I have some matters to discuss.”
Liu Xin said to Yang Liang, realizing that Yang Liang wasn’t in his usual form today and fearing he might mess things up if he stayed.
“Yes, Principal.”
Yang Liang placed the folder on the desk and then turned and left the office.
“Chairman Xu, please have a seat.”
Liu Xin gestured politely towards the guest chair. Xu Shaochen nodded and sat down across from the desk: “I’m not sure what Principal Liu needs from me, but if I can help in any way, I’ll certainly do my best.”
Although Liu Xin had briefly mentioned why he wanted to meet, Xu Shaochen acted as though he knew nothing, keeping his tone neutral.
“Would you like some water, Chairman Xu?”
Liu Xin poured a glass of water for Xu Shaochen and then said, “To be honest, I first heard about you from Zhao Qingfeng, Chairman Xu. I then asked around and found that you’re indeed an exceptional individual…”
After some complimentary flattery, Liu Xin finally voiced his purpose: “Here’s the situation, Chairman Xu. Your company is experiencing rapid growth right now. We hope you might consider forming a long-term partnership with our school, establishing a talent pipeline program.”
