Chapter Index

    General Manager’s office.

The head of the scammers, also known as the General Manager, was busy counting money using a money-counting machine.

Looking at the stacks of red bills, Wu Guan smiled with excitement.

“Damn, it’s too easy to trick these old fools. As expected, this method is the way to go. The young ones today are too sharp, so we have to prey on the elderly.”

“Who cares if it’s their life savings or funeral money? As long as it’s in my hands, it’s my money.”

“Brother Wu, I really admire you. How did you come up with this idea?” A woman with glowing eyes stared at the money, then willingly sat in Wu Guan’s lap.

This woman also worked for Wu Guan’s gang. She had slept with almost everyone in the group, a real public bus.

With a smug expression, Wu Guan lit a cigarette and rested a hand on the woman’s thigh. “Heh, if I weren’t this smart, how could I be your leader?”

Even though this woman had been with many men, Wu Guan didn’t mind because she was simply extraordinary. Her skills in bed were so remarkable that he couldn’t get enough.

“Brother Wu, do you think those old folks we scammed might call the police?” the woman asked, wrapping her arms around his neck, a bit uneasy.

Wu Guan chuckled dismissively. “What’s there to worry about? We’re a legitimate company, with signed contracts and all. By the time we’re gone, you think they’ll still dare report us?”

“Brother Wu, you’re so smart! I’m head over heels for you!” The woman excitedly kissed the top of Wu Guan’s bald head.

    “Bang!”

Suddenly, the door to the office was violently kicked open, scaring both of them.

“You ***! How dare you come here again? Tired of living?”

Wu Guan started cursing at Li Jianzhang the moment he saw him. He had given him a chance, but still, he dared to show up with backup.

“What’s wrong with you four idiots? Were you raised on crap? I told you to teach him a lesson, and this is what you do?”

Wu Guan angrily scolded Yellow Hair and the others, acting domineeringly.

Yellow Hair and the group hung their heads in silence. Big Brother, we’re all doomed, no need to be so arrogant.

Xu Shaochen waved his hand, and Long Er immediately closed the office door.

“Wow, that’s quite a lot of scammed money. Is this how you plan to get rich? Should be enough to buy yourself a coffin.”

Xu Shaochen casually walked up to the desk and grabbed a few stacks of cash, sneering at Wu Guan.

“Put that down, you ***!” Seeing Xu Shaochen touch his money so arrogantly made Wu Guan furious.

    “Haha.”

Xu Shaochen pulled over a chair, sat down casually, and with his legs crossed, said to Long Yi: “Bring him over. I don’t like speaking with my head turned up.”

Without a word, Long Yi charged forward, grabbed Wu Guan by the hair, and dragged him in front of Xu Shaochen.

    “Ah!”

The woman, who was comparable to a public bus, screamed in terror and crawled under the desk to hide.

“Let go of me! You ***! Are you tired of living? Let go of me!”

Wu Guan kept cursing and struggling, but it was all in vain.

    “Bang!”

Long Yi kicked the back of Wu Guan’s knee, forcing him to kneel in front of Xu Shaochen with a thud.

As Wu Guan tried to stand back up, Long Yi pulled out a handgun and pressed it against his temple, making him freeze in place.

“Bro… Brother, I don’t know how I’ve offended you, but I’m willing to apologize. Could you have your brother put the gun away? It… it might go off accidentally!”

Wu Guan swallowed hard, sweat beading on his forehead. His voice trembled as he looked at Xu Shaochen, filled with fear and anxiety.

“Keep cursing. Go on, keep cursing!”

Xu Shaochen dropped his leg, leaned slightly forward, and looked at Wu Guan with a calm expression.

“Brother… I’m an idiot. I just didn’t see who you were earlier. Please give me another chance. I was wrong, really wrong.”

Wu Guan was so terrified he almost wet himself. He was just a scammer and had never had a gun pointed at his head before. This was a first for him.

    “Slap!”

Xu Shaochen raised his hand and slapped Wu Guan hard across the face.

“Well deserved, Brother. It’s really well-deserved. That slap just cleared my head.” Even though his face was burning with pain, Wu Guan still forced a smile.

    “Slap!”

Without any change in expression, Xu Shaochen slapped him again.

“Brother, I realize my mistake. You should hit me. I deserve it.” Wu Guan’s face was swollen, and a tooth even fell out.

    “Slap!”

Xu Shaochen slapped him once more.

Everyone in the office shuddered, watching in silence.

“Bro…” Wu Guan’s speech became slurred, his head buzzing from the ringing in his ears.

Xu Shaochen smiled slightly at him and said calmly, “I didn’t expect you to be this tough. Daring to earn this kind of money—aren’t you afraid your son will be born without an ***?”

Brother, I won’t dare again. I didn’t know he was your friend! Even if you gave me a hundred guts, I wouldn’t dare scam his family. I’ll return the money right away. Please, Brother, spare me.”

Wu Guan kept kowtowing, begging for mercy. The money he scammed from Li Jianzhang’s parents was the largest sum he had tricked anyone out of recently. He had been overjoyed for days.

Yet he hadn’t expected that this would blow up in his face. How could he have known that the family had connections of this sort?

In hindsight, he should have fled with his gang earlier and not been so greedy, hanging around Jiangzhou for more scams.

“How much did you scam?” Xu Shaochen asked.

Wu Guan trembled as he answered, “T- two million seven hundred thousand.”

“Tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk. Two million seven hundred thousand. An ordinary person couldn’t make that much in a lifetime. You really have some skill. Think for yourself, how many years would you get for that?”

Xu Shaochen looked at him with a half-smirk and signaled Long Er to call the Police Station.

“Damn you! If there’s no way out, then I’ll fight you to the death!”

Seeing what was happening, a fierce glint flashed in Wu Guan’s eyes. He pulled out a small dagger and lunged at Xu Shaochen.

    “Watch out, Young Master Xu!”

Li Jianzhang’s face changed drastically. In a flash, he threw himself onto Wu Guan, tackling him to the ground. He got his hand cut by the knife.

Actually, Xu Shaochen wouldn’t have been in any danger since he was pretty skilled.

But Li Jianzhang didn’t know that and was acting purely out of gratitude to Xu Shaochen, repaying his kindness.

Long Yi and Long Er quickly moved forward and restrained Wu Guan.

Xu Shaochen remained calm, sitting in the chair, not moving an inch, though his eyes grew colder.
