Chapter 239: But You’re Just a Dog
by xennovel“Xu Shaochen…”
Liao Jie was unwilling, but at this moment, he could only look for a way to escape.
“Until I finish eating, I don’t want to hear a sound from this room.”
Before Liao Jie could finish his words, Xu Shaochen interrupted him, calm as ever.
“Bang!”
As soon as Long Yi heard this, he stepped forward and slammed his gun into Liao Jie’s face, knocking out three of his teeth. Blood started to ooze from his mouth.
But that wasn’t the end. Long Yi struck him three more times, knocking out a total of five teeth, leaving his mouth full of blood.
Then Long Yi returned to his position by the door.
Although Liao Jie was furious, he didn’t dare say another word. After all, this bloody lesson had just happened to him.
“Here, try this.”
Xu Shaochen’s face bore a gentle smile as he continued to pick food for Xie Wei, occasionally taking a sip of wine himself.
“No more. If I eat any more, I’ll gain weight.” Xie Wei blocked the plate, looking at Xu Shaochen with a blush on her face as she shook her head.
Xu Shaochen moved her hand away: “It’s fine. If you gain weight, no one will compete with me for you.”
This was the kind of sweet talk that was usually meant to deceive, but it was exactly what women liked to hear. Xie Wei felt a delightful warmth in her heart.
The only sound in the room was the conversation between Xu Shaochen and Xie Wei, as the two continued to eat nonchalantly.
Meanwhile, Liao Jie and his four men didn’t dare make a sound, standing nervously in place.
They stood there for half an hour.
The four bodyguards seemed fine, but Liao Jie’s legs were already weak, and his calves were trembling slightly. Sweat poured down his face like rain.
“Are you full?”
Xu Shaochen looked at Xie Wei and asked.
“Yes.” Xie Wei nodded and took a sip from her wine glass.
Xu Shaochen picked up a napkin, slowly and deliberately wiping his mouth, then stood up and walked step by step toward Liao Jie.
“Xu…”
“Slap!”
Liao Jie had barely uttered a word when Xu Shaochen raised his hand and slapped him across the face. Then, with a look of disdain, Xu Shaochen used the napkin to wipe his hand and said, “I didn’t allow you to speak, so keep quiet. Remember that. Don’t make such a simple mistake again.”
Liao Jie’s face alternated between green and white, his heart filled with anger and humiliation. When had he ever been treated like this? He felt like killing Xu Shaochen right then and there.
But the reality was, he had no choice but to follow Xu Shaochen’s instructions.
“You’re asking Mei Liangxin to go back for a liver transplant?” Xu Shaochen casually threw the napkin onto Liao Jie’s face, his tone calm and unwavering.
Liao Jie nodded, looking extremely upset as he replied, “Yes. The Young Master’s liver has a problem. He needs surgery; a liver transplant is required.”
“With the resources of the Mei Family, it shouldn’t be difficult to find a matching liver. So why insist on using Mei Liangxin’s liver?” Xu Shaochen asked again.
Liao Jie glanced at Xu Shaochen, his lips moved, but no sound came out.
“Don’t want to say? Then there’s no need. Take him outside, beat him half to death, and throw him at the Hospital entrance. Whether he lives or dies will be up to fate.” Xu Shaochen smiled slightly and said calmly to Long Yi.
Liao Jie’s face changed instantly. He quickly blurted out, “Because every surgery carries risks, especially a major surgery like liver transplants, which isn’t that advanced yet. The Boss wants to use a close relative’s liver to increase the chances of success.”
“Tsk tsk tsk, your Boss really is a beast. Both are his sons, yet he’s so biased!” Xu Shaochen shook his head, actually feeling a bit of pity for Mei Liangxin.
If anyone else were in this situation, they’d definitely collapse. To say it’s favoritism would be an understatement.
To Xu Shaochen’s comment, Liao Jie remained silent, his face sullen. Liao Jie was paid by his Boss, so of course, he had to follow his Boss’s orders.
Moreover, everyone in the Mei Family knew that Mei Liangxin wasn’t valued. He was just the invisible second young master. Being able to save the first young master’s life was considered his only use.
Liao Jie looked at Xu Shaochen and said, “I’ve told you everything you wanted to know. Can we leave now?”
“I just said, kneel and apologize, then crawl out.” Xu Shaochen flashed a brilliant smile, reaching out to pat Liao Jie’s face, applying more force with each pat.
You wanted me to kneel and apologize? Fine, I’ll grant your wish, but it will be you kneeling, not me.
Liao Jie’s eyes were bloodshot as he glared at Xu Shaochen, gritting his teeth as he said, “A man of honor can be killed but not humiliated! Aren’t you pushing me too far? Are you really trying to force me into a life-and-death struggle with you!”
“You said it yourself, that’s how a man of honor should act. But you’re just a dog raised by the Mei Family!” Xu Shaochen shook his head with a sigh, then his expression turned scornful as he said, “As for a struggle to the death with me? You think you’re worthy? You might die, but my ‘net’ won’t necessarily break.”
“Do you even know what the Mei Family represents?” Liao Jie growled through gritted teeth. By this point, he had no other choice.
“Slap!”
Xu Shaochen slapped him again, grabbed his hair, and pulled his face close, speaking in a low voice, “And do you know what I represent in Jiangzhou?”
Liao Jie glared at Xu Shaochen with rage in his eyes, clearly thinking, ‘Aren’t you just a reckless factory owner?’
“Which is why you’re stupid. And being stupid comes with a cost.” Xu Shaochen said in a serious tone, taking a gun from Long Yi’s hand and pressing it against Liao Jie’s forehead. “Now, listen carefully. Will you kneel?”
“Gulp…”
Feeling the cold touch of the gun, Liao Jie swallowed hard. He had thought he could remain defiant, but now he realized he had overestimated his own courage.
He was afraid of death.
“Thud!”
In the end, he slowly knelt down in front of Xu Shaochen.
“Now that’s the way. Was it really necessary to go through all this?” Xu Shaochen smiled, then looked over at the four bodyguards. “And you? Do I have to invite you too?”
The four looked at each other. Though they were unwilling, they could only kneel as well.
Xu Shaochen squatted down, looking at Liao Jie with a smile as he said:
“I’ll tell you one last thing. Remember to pass it on to your Boss. If anyone dares to touch Mei Liangxin, it means they’ve disrespected me. And disrespecting me is a quick way to get killed.”
“Bang!”
As soon as his words fell, he pulled the trigger without hesitation. Liao Jie’s left pinky finger was shattered, bone and all.
“Aaaahhhhhh!”
Liao Jie let out a blood-curdling scream, clutching his left hand as he rolled on the ground, his face as pale as a ghost.
“You wanted to cripple me, but I only broke your finger. I’d say I’m quite merciful. That’s just how I am.”
Xu Shaochen stood up, looked down at him, and smiled calmly. Then he tossed the gun to Long Yi and looked at Xie Wei, saying:
“Darling, let’s go.”
Xie Wei carefully stepped around Liao Jie and the others, then followed Xu Shaochen out of the private room.
