Chapter Index

“Go. Investigate which woman Young Master Chen has been involved with lately. Then follow that woman and pay attention to any men around her, especially those she’s close with. Take pictures and send them to me.”

After returning home, Jia Ze instructed his bodyguard.

An idea had struck him, and he decided to act quickly. He needed to help Chen Dongqiu solve this matter as soon as possible, giving him a big surprise.

He aimed to get into Chen Dongqiu’s inner circle before next month’s profit distribution so he could claim a larger share.

Jia Ze couldn’t help but admire his own wit. Comparing himself to others who just wasted their lives away, he sighed. Opportunities always seemed to favor those who were prepared.

Of course, he had no idea that in Chen Dongqiu’s eyes, he was just another idiot wasting his life away.

Later that evening, the bodyguard returned with several photos.

    “Shua!”

Upon seeing the people in the photos, Jia Ze immediately stood up.

There, in the photos, was a man getting quite cozy with Liu Rushuang. They were seen together at a mall, Cinema, and amusement park, even kissing.

What shocked him even more was that he recognized the man. He would never forget him for the rest of his life.

“That damn Xu! There’s a path to heaven, but you refuse to walk it. Instead, you charge straight into hell. I couldn’t touch you back in Jiangzhou, but here in Yunzhou, just watch me!”

Jia Ze clenched his teeth, his face darkening with rage. There was a vicious gleam in his eyes, mixed with excitement.

Not only could he curry favor with Chen Dongqiu, but he could also seek revenge. Jia Ze felt like the heavens were truly blessing him.

“Keep a close watch on him!”

    Jia Ze ordered his bodyguard.

    “Yes, sir.”

The bodyguard accepted the order and left.

    ………………

    Nine in the morning.

Xu Shaochen dressed in formal attire. He didn’t bring Liu Rushuang or Mei Liangxin with him. He left the hotel alone.

He was heading to the Xu Corporation branch in Yunzhou. He had already notified the person in charge yesterday.

After all, the Zhou Family was influential in Yunzhou. Without leveraging the Xu Corporation’s power in Yunzhou, Xu Shaochen might struggle to get things done.

    “Boss.”

Outside the hotel, Long Yi and Long Er stood beside the Rolls-Royce. When they saw him, they quickly greeted him.

    “When did you arrive?”

Xu Shaochen casually asked as he bent down and got into the car.

He and Mei Liangxin flew in, while Long Yi and Long Er drove on the highway.

Long Si was still at the hospital watching over his mother, and Long San was protecting Linda. So for now, only Long Yi and Long Er were with Xu Shaochen.

“We arrived last night, but we didn’t want to disturb you.”

Long Yi responded respectfully as he took the driver’s seat, while Long Er sat in the passenger seat.

    “To Yongsheng Group.”

Xu Shaochen said. Yongsheng Group was a subsidiary of the Xu Corporation in Yunzhou, focusing mainly on the internet sector.

With the Xu Corporation’s financial backing, Yongsheng Group was also a major player in Yunzhou.

Half an hour later, they arrived at their destination.

Xu Shaochen got out of the car and walked toward the Yongsheng Group building, with Long Yi and Long Er following behind.

At the entrance stood a middle-aged man wearing glasses. Upon seeing Xu Shaochen, he hurriedly walked over to greet him.

“You must be Young Master Xu. I was specifically assigned to welcome you.”

The middle-aged man with glasses spoke to Xu Shaochen with great respect, keeping a very low stance.

“Hmm, thank you. Lead the way.”

Xu Shaochen nodded and followed the man into the building. The fact that only one person had come to greet him met his expectations for keeping things low-profile.

“Young Master Xu, may I show you around the company first?”

The glasses-wearing man smiled at Xu Shaochen. Internally, he was panicking, as his only option now was to stall for time.

“Alright.” Xu Shaochen wasn’t aware of the man’s thoughts and nodded in agreement.

The man with glasses then led Xu Shaochen on a tour of the company, visiting each department.

The employees were shocked when they saw the scene. As soon as the two left, the office buzzed with chatter.

“Whoa, who was that just now? Did I see that right? Mr. Liu was so respectful toward him!”

“Yeah, who could he be? Must be some rich kid from a powerful family.”

“So curious? Then go ask Mr. Liu…”

Everyone engaged in lively discussions, curious about Xu Shaochen’s identity.

“Where’s your chairman?” Xu Shaochen frowned as he asked Mr. Liu. He realized that after all this time, the chairman of Yongsheng Group had yet to make an appearance.

What? Did they expect him to personally go meet him?

Hearing this, Mr. Liu’s face showed a flicker of panic. Stammering, he said, “Y-Young Master Xu, Chairman Zhao had something urgent come up, so he instructed me to handle everything…”

“Oh? Urgent, you say? If I recall, I informed him in advance yesterday. Call him immediately.”

Before Mr. Liu could finish speaking, Xu Shaochen cut him off. From Mr. Liu’s nervous demeanor, Xu Shaochen realized that Chairman Zhao must be playing some sort of trick.

What was this? A power play? Did this chairman think that, just because he was far from the main headquarters, he didn’t need to respect Xu Shaochen? Did he think he could get away with it?

Mr. Liu hesitated for a moment, but under Xu Shaochen’s cold gaze, he eventually dialed Zhao Cheng’an’s number.

“Put it on speaker.” Xu Shaochen added.

Left with no choice, Mr. Liu activated the speaker mode as the call connected.

“Hello? Old Liu, what’s going on? Did that brat leave yet?”

A particularly arrogant voice came through the phone, laced with a tone of ridicule.

Mr. Liu broke out in cold sweat and carefully said, “Chairman, Mr. Xu is still here… No, I mean, Young Master Xu, he’s…”

“Who the hell cares about a ‘Young Master’? Just a brat! Why should I have to personally meet him? What is he? When I started in business, he was probably still wetting his pants!”

Before Mr. Liu could finish, Zhao Cheng’an rudely interrupted, displaying complete disdain.

Xu Shaochen immediately snatched the phone from Mr. Liu and coldly said, “Oh, really? It’s quite impressive how even a subsidiary chairman can act so high and mighty. Get over here right now, or you never will.”

    “Xu…”

Upon hearing this voice, Zhao Cheng’an was stunned for a moment. Then, he suddenly broke out in a cold sweat. In his mind, he cursed Mr. Liu’s ancestors. Why didn’t that fool warn him that Xu Shaochen was present? Though Zhao Cheng’an didn’t fear Xu Shaochen, he knew better than to defy him openly. Otherwise, he would have confronted him directly, rather than avoiding him today just to save face.

After all, Xu Shaochen was, on paper, the Young Master of Xu Corporation. In the eyes of someone like him, the chairman of a subsidiary company was nothing.

In a desperate attempt to explain himself, Zhao Cheng’an had just gotten a word out when Xu Shaochen hung up the phone.
