Chapter 260: Or What Otherwise?
by xennovel“It won’t be a problem, right?”
Liu Rushuang looked at Xu Shaochen and asked. Although she had grown accustomed to it, she was still worried about Xu Shaochen.
“It’s just a small fry. He can’t cause any real trouble.”
Xu Shaochen shook his head dismissively. He really didn’t take Jia Ze seriously.
He refused to believe that Jia Ze could be more difficult to deal with than the Zhou Family.
“Ding ding ding…”
Suddenly, his phone started ringing. He took it out and saw it was Zhao Cheng’an calling.
“Speak,” Xu Shaochen answered the call.
“Chairman Xu, you asked me to look into the Zhou Family. I’ve found something. The Zhou Family has been facing a series of major incidents recently. The Third Brother is crippled, the Second Brother is dead, and the Eldest Brother is about to get married.”
Even Zhao Cheng’an found it hard to believe as he spoke.
Although the Yongsheng Group wasn’t afraid of the Zhou Family, the Zhou Family was still a top-tier presence in Yunzhou.
But in such a short span of time, so many things had happened. Who could possibly have the courage to do this?
“The eldest son of the Zhou Family is getting married? When? I’ll make sure to send my regards,” said Xu Shaochen calmly. The Zhou Family had become his most significant enemy. As long as this issue remained unresolved, he couldn’t rest easy.
The Zhou Family certainly wouldn’t let this go. They haven’t acted yet most likely because the wedding is near.
Once the wedding is over, they’ll probably come after him with full force.
Given how the Zhou Family’s Second Brother even went so far as to send people to kill his mother, they would most likely target his loved ones first when they strike.
So, he had to eliminate this threat before it could grow.
Of course, eliminating it doesn’t mean killing anyone.
After all, he wasn’t just dealing with the Zhou Family itself, but the people behind it.
The threat from these people stemmed from the Zhou Family’s existence.
Without the Zhou Family, how would they cause him any trouble?
“Hm, gather all the information you can on the Zhou Family’s company. Prepare to act. I want the Zhou Family ruined, to the point where they disappear from Yunzhou.”
Xu Shaochen spoke with determination.
“Ah? Alright, I understand. I’m on it now. The wedding is three days from now at the Zhou Family’s estate.”
It took a moment for Zhao Cheng’an to respond. He was beginning to realize who was behind the incidents involving the Zhou Family’s Second and Third brothers.
He couldn’t help but feel relieved that he was still alive. It was nothing short of a miracle.
Still, the Zhou Family’s misfortune in provoking this man must have been the result of eight generations of bad luck.
Just a single finger from the Xu Corporation could crush the Zhou Family ten times over.
So he had to make sure he handled things well and proved his worth to Xu Shaochen. Only those with value have the right to be used.
There’s an old saying: being used isn’t the sad part, not being valuable enough to be used is.
Zhao Cheng’an had always believed this to be a wise saying.
“Are you full?”
After hanging up, Xu Shaochen looked at Liu Rushuang and asked.
“Yes, let’s go.”
Liu Rushuang nodded and wiped her rosy lips with a napkin.
“Waiter, check, please.”
After paying the bill, Xu Shaochen led Liu Rushuang out of the restaurant.
“Ding ding ding…”
As soon as they stepped out of the restaurant, his phone rang again.
At first, he thought Zhao Cheng’an might have forgotten to mention something, but when he saw the caller ID, it was Mei Liangxin.
Wasn’t this guy out having fun? Why was he calling?
“Hello, spit it out if there’s something to say, or hold your fart.”
Xu Shaochen answered the call with a blunt greeting.
“Big Brother, save me! If you don’t come soon, just set up a cenotaph for me and pay your respects during Qingming.”
Mei Liangxin’s pitiful and miserable voice echoed from the phone.
“Then rest easy. I’ll make sure to set up that cenotaph,” Xu Shaochen replied calmly.
“Big Brother, you must be kidding! I’m at… I’m at the North People’s Road junction. Help me!”
Mei Liangxin shouted anxiously. The sounds of chaos could be heard from the phone, clearly indicating that a group of people were chasing him.
“Damn, idiot.”
Cursing, Xu Shaochen got into the car and ordered, “Long Er, navigate to North People’s Road.”
This idiot Mei Liangxin, who knows what kind of trouble he’s stirred up this time? It sounded like quite a few guys were after him.
…
Twenty minutes later.
North People’s Road.
As soon as the car stopped, Xu Shaochen saw Mei Liangxin cornered in a dead end, shivering. Four burly men in vests held clubs, slowly closing in on him.
“You little punk, keep running! Let’s see how far you can go. I chased you for more than forty minutes. Tonight, I’m going to beat you senseless for that!”
One of the men, drenched in sweat, barked at Mei Liangxin, grinding his teeth and panting heavily.
“Big brother, it’s a misunderstanding, all just a misunderstanding! I was wrong.”
Mei Liangxin was also out of breath. He couldn’t believe this bunch had chased him down for over forty minutes just to beat him.
“To hell with your misunderstandings! Get him!”
“Hey!”
Xu Shaochen got out of the car and called out to them.
The four men, who were just about to pummel Mei Liangxin, froze and turned around.
“Oh, thank God you’re finally here. Or else I’d be done for today.”
Taking advantage of the moment, Mei Liangxin rushed to Xu Shaochen’s side, breathing a long sigh of relief.
“What did you do this time?” Xu Shaochen asked.
Mei Liangxin looked wronged: “I’m innocent this time, I swear! They tried to rob me, and just because I wouldn’t hand over my money, they chased me down.”
Xu Shaochen twitched slightly at Mei Liangxin’s words. That’s some determination on both sides—one guy runs for over forty minutes, and the others chase for the entire time.
“Kid, I suggest you mind your own business!”
The four burly men dragged their clubs closer and spoke coldly to Xu Shaochen.
“Robbery is illegal, you know. But I’ll let it slide today. Beat it.”
Xu Shaochen waved them off, knowing that small-time dumb criminals like these would get caught sooner or later.
“Damn, you got guts for a kid. Hand over your phone and wallet!”
One of the men pointed his club at Xu Shaochen, shouting.
Xu Shaochen almost laughed out loud. Did this guy just decide to rob him on the spot?
“Let me tell you something. Hand over your phone and wallet, or else…”
“Or else what?” Before the man could finish speaking, Xu Shaochen pulled a gun from Long Yi’s waist and aimed it at the four of them.
The leader’s face turned white as he stammered, “Or… or else we’ll kneel and beg for forgiveness.”
And with that, he immediately fell to his knees, followed by the other three.
