Chapter 281: You Must Give Me This Respect
by xennovel“Do you think there’s anything left to discuss between us?”
Xu Shaochen looked at the bald-headed middle-aged man with a mockery on his face, as if looking at a fool.
“Yes, yes, of course, there is! There’s nothing in this world that can’t be discussed! Big Brother, do you want money or women? Whatever you say, I’ll give it to you. Today, I was blind and offended you. Please, have mercy and spare me!”
Hearing Xu Shaochen’s words, the bald-headed middle-aged man secretly breathed a sigh of relief. As long as Xu Shaochen was willing to speak, there was still hope. What he feared most was Xu Shaochen just pulling out a gun without a word.
He was regretting it to death in his heart.
At most, he was a small-town bully. In front of someone like Xu Shaochen who has bodyguards with guns, he was merely a weakling.
Damn it! You’re so powerful, yet you come to my small restaurant to eat? The people who usually come here are just ordinary folks and workers. Even if they noticed the oil problem, they’d be too scared to do anything.
Whenever someone important came to eat, I’d always inform the kitchen in advance to use the best ingredients and oil.
Who the hell would have thought someone like Xu Shaochen, who’s clearly got too much time on his hands, would show up?
“Alright then, I’ll give you a chance. Where’s the plant where you refine gutter oil? Then tell me how you’ve been using it, for how long, and all the immoral things you’ve done. I’ll even help you by calling the police.”
Xu Shaochen said sarcastically. Xu Shaochen has always been a law-abiding citizen, so this matter should be handed over to the police.
The bald-headed middle-aged man’s face turned pale. He swallowed hard and forced a stiff smile at Xu Shaochen, “B-Big Brother, you sure know how to joke. You’re really funny, huh.”
Could he reveal all the things he had done? Malicious business competition, murder, arson—what hadn’t he done?
Those rumors outside, as long as there wasn’t any evidence, and as long as he denied everything, there wouldn’t be any problem.
But if he confessed to everything, wouldn’t that be suicide? The things he’d done were enough to warrant the death penalty ten times over.
“Smack!”
Xu Shaochen slapped him across the face and sneered, “Do you think I’m joking with you? Who do you think you are? You don’t even have the qualification to joke with me.”
Feeling the stinging pain on his face, the bald-headed middle-aged man was both shocked and angry.
What shocked him was that Xu Shaochen really intended to pursue this to the end.
What angered him was the arrogance Xu Shaochen displayed, completely disregarding him. Did he really think he could do as he pleased in Yunzhou?
“Don’t push me too far!” The bald-headed middle-aged man snarled, his eyes almost popping out as he glared at Xu Shaochen.
“Smack!”
Just as he finished speaking, Xu Shaochen raised his hand and gave him another slap. “So what if I bully you?”
The bald-headed middle-aged man glared back but dared not speak any further. After all, his life was still in Xu Shaochen’s hands.
“Liu Sanpao! What the hell is going on, why is this office door still…”
At that moment, a cheerful voice rang out. Then the office door was pushed open and a young man in a black shirt walked in.
When he saw the scene in the office, the young man blinked in confusion, swallowing back the words he had intended to say.
“W-What’s going on here?”
The young man finally reacted after a moment, his eyes a bit dazed as he asked.
“Young Master Zhao, save me! Young Master Zhao, I’ve served you loyally for years. You can’t just sit back and watch me die!”
Liu Sanpao looked like he had seen his savior. He gazed at the young man with wild joy and kept begging.
“Buddy, this guy’s my dog. Why not give me some respect and let him go?”
Zhao Hao leisurely walked up to Xu Shaochen, sizing him up before nonchalantly speaking.
“I’m afraid I can’t give you that respect.” Xu Shaochen said expressionlessly, his tone unwavering.
“How dare you!” Liu Sanpao shouted angrily, cursing Xu Shaochen, “Do you even know who you’re talking to? Did you not hear Young Master Zhao telling you to let me go? Do you want to die?!”
Now that Zhao Hao was here, Liu Sanpao felt emboldened and didn’t take Xu Shaochen seriously anymore.
“Smack!”
Zhao Hao raised his hand and slapped Liu Sanpao across the face, coldly saying, “How dare you! Know your place. Since when do you get to make decisions for me?”
“Yes, Young Master Zhao is right.” Liu Sanpao’s face alternated between blue and white, but he still forced a smile to curry favor with Zhao Hao.
“Worthless.” Zhao Hao cursed, and then turned to Xu Shaochen with a calm tone, “If you won’t let him go, that’s fine. Do whatever you want.”
“Young Master Zhao, you can’t do this to me! I’m your loyal dog!” Liu Sanpao was stunned when he heard these words and hurriedly exclaimed.
Zhao Hao sighed, looked at Liu Sanpao, and shook his head, “Liu Sanpao, are you really that stupid, or just pretending to be? You said it yourself; you’re my dog. Why would I offend someone else over a dog?”
After all, I’m not an idiot. Being from a wealthy family, I could tell from the watch on his wrist that Xu Shaochen isn’t someone I should mess with.
Besides, in this day and age, someone who dares to point a gun at someone’s head, do you think their background would be simple?
I may be arrogant and uneducated, but that doesn’t mean I’m stupid. I won’t cause trouble for my own father without knowing the other person’s background.
Liu Sanpao was furious inside. How could you just kick me to the curb after all I’ve done for you? Even a dog shouldn’t be treated like this.
“Young Master Zhao, I’ve done so many things for you! This guy wants to force me to confess everything and report it to the cops. I don’t care if I fall, but I’m worried you’ll be implicated!”
Liu Sanpao gritted his teeth, heart full of malice, and glared at Zhao Hao.
“Are you threatening me?” Zhao Hao narrowed his eyes, a hint of killing intent flashing.
Cold sweat drenched Liu Sanpao, but he had no other choice. He forced himself to continue, “No, I wouldn’t dare threaten you, Young Master Zhao. I’m just telling the truth. Please, understand!”
Xu Shaochen watched the scene with great interest; it was another case of a dog eating dog. Judging by Zhao Hao’s demeanor, he wasn’t any better.
Zhao Hao gave Liu Sanpao a deep look, then calmly said to Xu Shaochen, “It seems today you must show me some respect.”
Whether Liu Sanpao lived or died, he didn’t care at all. A biting dog was no longer useful; if it died, he could just get a new one.
However, Liu Sanpao had indeed hit his sore spot with his threat. Liu Sanpao had done a lot of dirty work for him, all unspeakable things. If the truth got out, his father would be the first to not let him off the hook.
