Chapter 284: The Grand Reception at Yunzhou Airport
by xennovel9:00 AM.
Yunzhou Airport.
The airport had a passageway cordoned off by two rows of men in black suits. Luxury cars lined the roadside.
“Wow, what kind of grand reception is this? Are they here to pick someone up or see someone off? Who could it possibly be?”
“I recognize that Bentley. It belongs to Zhao Cheng’an. I never thought he’d show up himself.”
“This kind of spectacle is a once-in-a-century event in Yunzhou. Incredible.”
“Well, no surprise. A hundred years ago, there weren’t even any people like this around.”
“Brother, were you raised on a construction site, always arguing?”
The bystanders were all in shock. After all, each license plate here belonged to influential figures in Yunzhou. As long as you were a local, you’d recognize them immediately.
But now, so many of these bigwigs were gathered at the airport. They were either here to welcome someone important or send off someone significant.
Everyone was curious—who could command such an impressive reception? 9:10 AM.
A black Rolls-Royce approached slowly.
The moment the car parked, the doors of the luxury cars lining the street all opened. One by one, well-dressed figures stepped out and hurried towards the Rolls-Royce.
Zhao Cheng’an led the way, quickly stepping up to bend over and open the car’s rear door.
Xu Shaochen stepped out with Liu Rushuang.
Wow! Everyone gasped in amazement, their eyes glued to Xu Shaochen and Liu Rushuang.
“My god, their looks are otherworldly! Mom, I think I just fell in love and got my heart broken at the same time!”
“Brother, is that the point? The point is Zhao Cheng’an personally opened the car door for him— even the mayor doesn’t get that kind of respect!”
“I’ve seen those two before. Last time, the woman was picking up the man at the airport.”
“Who on earth are they…”
Everyone was filled with envy. How incredible would it be if they could one day reach that level? But for them, it was just a distant dream.
“Cheng’an, was all this really necessary? I told you there was no need for this. You’re practically announcing it to the entire world.”
Xu Shaochen looked at Zhao Cheng’an, feeling a bit helpless. Xu Shaochen was a “low-key” person—this kind of spectacle was against his principles.
Mei Liangxin rolled his eyes. “When you say that, could you at least stop smiling? It’d be a lot more convincing.”
“Chairman Xu, you rarely visit Yunzhou, and now you’re leaving already. We felt it was the least we could do.”
“Yes, yes, if we hadn’t come today, we would’ve felt guilty.”
“Chairman Xu, we wish you a safe journey. We hope you’ll visit Yunzhou again.”
Zhao Cheng’an and the others showered Xu Shaochen with compliments. It wasn’t just flattery; treating him with respect was the most basic way to conduct themselves.
“It’s time to board, so I won’t chat with you all. Give me a call when you’re in Jiangzhou, and I’ll make sure you’re treated well.”
Xu Shaochen checked his watch and then, with Liu Rushuang, headed towards the airport. Mei Liangxin, looking somewhat dejected, followed behind with two suitcases.
“Chairman Xu, this way, please.”
Zhao Cheng’an and the others quickly followed, escorting him all the way.
“Good morning, Mr. Xu.”
The two rows of men in black suits bowed and greeted in unison, their voices as loud as a temple bell.
Many onlookers were filled with admiration. Apart from envy, they felt a surge of ambition. What greater success could there be for a man in this world?
“Right this way, Mr. Xu.”
Entering the airport, they didn’t take the public passage.
Instead, the co-pilot of the flight to Jiangzhou personally greeted Xu Shaochen and guided them through a private passage to board the plane.
The tickets were, of course, for first-class—unlike when they arrived, seated in business class.
However, once Xu Shaochen reached his seat, his expression immediately darkened. The co-pilot looked quite uncomfortable as well.
Because a middle-aged woman, adorned in glittering jewelry, was sitting in his seat.
Xu Shaochen glanced at his ticket, then coldly asked the co-pilot: “My ticket is correct, right?”
“Yes, yes, it’s correct.” The co-pilot was visibly upset, barely containing his frustration as he spoke to the middle-aged woman: “Ma’am, please return to your seat. This seat belongs to this gentleman.”
Who is Xu Shaochen?
He’s a true VIP. Escorting Xu Shaochen personally was already an honor for the co-pilot.
But now his seat had been taken? This was an insult to him!
“Your seat? How much did you pay for your ticket? I’ll triple it for you. I wanted a first-class ticket, but they were sold out. So I bought a business class instead. Let’s switch.”
The middle-aged woman glanced at Xu Shaochen, then sipped from a bottle of water and began fishing money out of her wallet. She spoke in a flat tone, with an undercurrent of arrogance.
She had done this before, so she wasn’t fazed. In her mind, it was only a matter of paying more. Money wasn’t an issue for her—she just wanted better comfort.
“Sorry, but I don’t need your money. Please get up.”
Xu Shaochen spoke calmly. He could buy the entire plane, so why would he care about her petty cash?
The woman froze, then said to Xu Shaochen: “Fine, I’ll give you five times the amount.”
“I’ll say it again—I don’t need your money. Return to your seat.” Xu Shaochen’s face darkened. He had already been very polite, but this woman didn’t seem to understand.
The woman frowned and coldly said, “Young man, know when to be satisfied. Don’t be greedy. Five times is plenty.”
“Get lost!” Xu Shaochen unceremoniously spat out.
The woman instantly became furious. She stood up and shrieked, “You little bastard, who do you think you’re telling to get lost? I even gave you money! Do you want me to make your life a living hell?”
The other passengers frowned, their gazes filled with unconcealed disdain for the middle-aged woman.
“Ma’am, you’re sitting in my boyfriend’s seat. There’s no need to be so rude,” Liu Rushuang said as she stood up and looked at the woman.
The woman sized up Liu Rushuang, then sneered, “Who are you calling ‘Ma’am’? And who’s your ‘boyfriend’? Dressed like some little seductress—who knows how many men you’ve been with. Stop pretending.”
Smack!
Xu Shaochen raised his hand and slapped the woman across the face. Coldly, he said, “Your mouth really stinks.”
With that, Xu Shaochen turned to the co-pilot and said, “This is your airline’s problem to solve. Get her off this plane immediately, or you can leave too!”
