Chapter Index

Xu Shaochen glanced down at the spot where he had been pushed, then calmly smoothed out the wrinkles with his hand. Looking at the middle-aged man, he smiled slightly and said in a calm tone:

“You’ve got guts. In Jiangzhou, aside from a clueless little scumbag like you, few would dare to do something like that. Come on, tell me, how would you like to die?”

    “Ha—hahaha…”

The middle-aged man burst into exaggerated laughter upon hearing these words. Pointing at Xu Shaochen with his sunglasses, he turned to his men and said, “Did you hear that? Did you hear what he just said? He wants to know how I want to die! That’s just hilarious! This little punk caught me off guard with that one! Hahaha…”

“So young, yet so arrogant. Who does this kid think he is to talk to our Brother Wang like that? He must have a death wish. Someone should tell him who Brother Wang is!”

“Brother Wang, I bet this kid has never even heard of your name. Who doesn’t know that you call the shots around the airport?”

“Exactly! This kid doesn’t know what’s good for him…”

The middle-aged man’s lackeys also looked at Xu Shaochen as if they’d just heard the funniest joke, their expressions full of mocking disdain, as if watching a clown.

Mei Liangxin yawned out of boredom. These days, any random nobody thinks they can jump around without fear of getting slapped to death.

Xu Shaochen isn’t someone you can mess with!

And more importantly, this is Jiangzhou. This is Xu Shaochen’s home turf.

To put it bluntly, even the Jiangzhou government and the entire Canglan Province administration have to be polite to Xu Shaochen.

After all, Xu Shaochen is the Young Master of the Xu Corporation. The Xu Corporation is a significant taxpayer nationwide, and they’re involved in many state construction projects.

You could say that the status of the Xu Corporation in the country is such that even if it were to go bankrupt, the Longguo government would be the first to oppose it.

If the Xu Corporation went bankrupt, the economic stability and various projects in large parts of Longguo would collapse in no time. The Xu Corporation’s influence is just too vast.

Longguo is just an example. Globally, the Xu Corporation holds a similarly prominent position as a top financial conglomerate.

Especially in war-torn, underdeveloped countries, the Xu Corporation’s name carries even more weight than the official authorities.

The Xu Corporation is that formidable. To be more precise, Xu Shaochen’s late grandfather, whom he had never met, was the one who built such a powerful legacy. His life was practically a cheat code.

But now, here these little nobodies are, daring to provoke Xu Shaochen. It’s like bringing a lantern into a latrine—asking for death.

    “Is it that funny?”

Xu Shaochen looked at Brother Wang and asked calmly.

Brother Wang’s face turned serious as he looked at Xu Shaochen and said in a deep voice, “You little brat, I don’t have time for your nonsense. You have two choices: apologize sincerely, or get down and crawl under my legs.”

“Kid, I suggest you crawl under our Brother Wang’s legs. After all, not everyone gets this kind of luck.”

“Exactly. Crawling under Brother Wang’s legs would be a blessing for you. Crawl!”

    “Hurry up and crawl…”

Brother Wang’s four lackeys all started egging him on, looking at Xu Shaochen with schadenfreude, clearly used to bullying others like this.

The middle-aged woman sneered at Xu Shaochen. Just a moment ago, on the plane, he was so arrogant. Now, why can’t he find the words?

Taking your seat was giving you some face. You ungrateful nobody.

“What’s going on here! You bunch, what are you doing?”

A stern voice echoed as a few police officers approached, their expressions extremely displeased.

Causing trouble right outside the airport? How are visitors supposed to view Jiangzhou? Are they trying to suggest Jiangzhou has poor public safety?

“Oh, Officer Chen, it’s just a misunderstanding. I was just having a little chat with this young man. We’ll be on our way now.”

Seeing the police approach, Brother Wang smiled, pulling out a cigarette and offering it.

“I’m telling you, Wang, you better not cause any trouble, or I’ll haul you in myself. Now get lost!”

Officer Chen swatted away Brother Wang’s cigarette impatiently, clearly knowing what kind of person Wang was dealing with.

“Officer Chen, I’m just discussing something. There’s no law that says I can’t have a chat at the airport entrance, right?”

Brother Wang chuckled, clearly polite on the surface but skirting the lines of provocation.

Officer Chen glanced at him, then looked at Xu Shaochen and said, “Do you need any help, sir?”

“Come here, I actually have something to talk to you about.”

Xu Shaochen waved at Officer Chen with a gentle smile on his face.

Everyone was stunned. The tone Xu Shaochen used was one of command, as if he were towering above the others. Was he really just pretending to be so arrogant?

Officer Chen hesitated for a moment but eventually walked over, looking at Xu Shaochen with suspicion. “What is it? Just say it.”

“You little brat, you’d better watch your mouth!” Brother Wang cursed at Xu Shaochen, his eyes flashing with malice.

“If you clamp down on that idiot over there, you’ll make a big score. A crackdown is coming soon.”

Xu Shaochen patted Officer Chen on the shoulder and calmly pointed at Brother Wang as he spoke.

Officer Chen was flabbergasted. He hadn’t received any orders for a crackdown. What in the world is this about? He couldn’t make any sense of it.

“Kid, you’d better watch your tone!”

One of Brother Wang’s lackeys pointed at Xu Shaochen and yelled at him.

“Don’t understand? That’s okay, you’ll understand soon. Just giving you a heads-up so you can claim the credit later.”

Xu Shaochen glanced at the bewildered Officer Chen, then handed a business card to Brother Wang, giving a faint smile as he added, “If you figure it out, give me a call to beg. I’ll be waiting.”

With that, Xu Shaochen patted Brother Wang on the shoulder, then walked away with Liu Rushuang, without looking back.

Mei Liangxin watched Xu Shaochen’s retreating figure in disbelief. Damn, he didn’t really understand what just happened, but it sure seemed impressive.

As Xu Shaochen walked away, he dialed Linda’s number and said calmly, “Call the provincial office and lodge a formal complaint about Jiangzhou’s safety issues in my name. I just faced a personal threat at the airport. Given that the Xu Corporation is a major taxpayer, I am deeply concerned about my safety. If something like this happens to me, what about ordinary citizens of Jiangzhou? I am pained by this and hope to see a full-scale anti-gang operation by the end of the day to restore peace and security in Jiangzhou.”

A joke? Organized crime? Xu Shaochen wasn’t afraid of organized crime at all. They were just a bunch of nobodies not worth mentioning.

Police departments across the country generally viewed the Xu Corporation favorably. After all, those donated police cars didn’t come for free.

Mei Liangxin swallowed hard. He couldn’t help but think that if any other gang knew that this crackdown was because of Brother Wang, they’d likely tear him apart.
