Chapter Index

    Xu Shaochen finally left.

Brother Wang and Team Leader Chen, who were still standing in place, hadn’t reacted yet.

After all, Xu Shaochen was too imposing. His tone was calm, yet every word brought immense pressure, making them feel uneasy.

“Shit! Talking big without even preparing a script. Who does he think he is? He wants me to beg him? Screw him!”

After regaining his senses, Brother Wang cursed disdainfully, then ripped the business card apart and threw it into a nearby trash can.

“Exactly, that young punk with barely any age on him acts all high and mighty. He says ‘sweep the gangs’? Who does he think he is? What a joke.”

    “Luckily, he ran off quickly…”

Several of his lackeys echoed Brother Wang’s complaints, still dissatisfied with Xu Shaochen’s arrogant attitude.

    “Ring… Ring… Ring…”

At this moment, Team Leader Chen’s phone rang. When he looked at the caller ID, his expression changed immediately, and he hurriedly answered, “Director Liu… A meeting? The documents for the anti-gang operation have been issued? How’s that possible…”

Before he could finish his sentence, Team Leader Chen recalled Xu Shaochen’s departure. He was utterly dumbfounded, his eyes filled with shock and disbelief.

“I’m here, I’m listening. What? Other branches have already begun operations? Yes, I’ll return to the station immediately.”

Hearing his superior’s repeated inquiries, Team Leader Chen snapped out of his bewilderment and quickly replied.

    “Wang, you’re a dead man.”

After hanging up the phone, Team Leader Chen turned to Brother Wang and said this, then rushed back to attend the meeting.

“What… What did he just say?”

Brother Wang stood there dumbfounded, looking at his lackey and asking. He felt like his ears must have misheard something.

“Gulp… It… It seems like the anti-gang documents have been issued.”

The lackey swallowed hard and looked at Brother Wang cautiously as he spoke.

Brother Wang’s face instantly turned pale. Xu Shaochen’s recent words kept echoing in his mind, and his heart was filled with regret.

“Husband, didn’t you say you’d avenge me? How could you just let him go like that?”

After Team Leader Chen left, the middle-aged woman without a brain clung to Brother Wang’s arm, acting spoiled because she obviously didn’t want to let Xu Shaochen off that easily.

    “Smack!”

Brother Wang turned around and slapped the woman in the face, gritting his teeth as he said, “You… You… Damn it, you’ve ruined me!”

As the words left his mouth, he started frantically searching his pockets and whispered to himself, “Business card, where’s the business card?”

“Boss, you just threw it in the trash can.” One of the lackeys timidly reminded him.

Brother Wang suddenly came to his senses. When he turned around, he saw a janitor cleaning up the trash can. He rushed over and grabbed the trash can tightly.

“What are you standing there for? Hurry up and help me search!”

Brother Wang yelled at his four lackeys, his heart now filled with panic and fear.

    “Yes, boss.”

The four lackeys immediately squatted down and started rummaging through the trash can.

“Hey, what are you doing?” the janitor called out.

“Shut up!” Brother Wang lifted his head, his eyes bloodshot as he roared.

The janitor was so frightened that he quickly muttered a few curses under his breath and then left with his tools.

And so, a ridiculous scene unfolded outside the airport.

Five grown men were rummaging through a trash can, with one of them mumbling as he searched.

    “I found it, Boss. I found it…”

Suddenly, one of the lackeys shouted in excitement.

“Give it to me!” Brother Wang’s eyes lit up, and he hastily interrupted, eager to stop him.

“Boss, I found ten yuan.” The previously excited lackey handed Brother Wang a ten-yuan bill, covered in dog poop.

Brother Wang’s face twitched, and he immediately slapped the dog poop onto the lackey’s face, “Screw you! The business card, I need the business card!”

“Y-Yes, boss. Please calm down. Boss, here it is. It’s right here.”

The lackeys, trembling with fear, finally managed to recover the torn business card.

Brother Wang hastily pieced it back together on the ground. Once it was complete, he let out a long sigh of relief, his face drenched in cold sweat.

    “Ring… Ring… Ring…”

At that moment, one of the lackey’s phones rang. After answering it, the lackey looked at Brother Wang anxiously and said,

“Boss, it’s bad. Several of our businesses in South City have been shut down. The people in charge have all been taken away.”

Brother Wang’s face turned deathly pale, and with trembling hands, he dialed the number on the business card.

    “Beep… Beep…”

“Boss, I was wrong. I was really wrong. Please, spare me. Please be merciful and let me off this time. It’s my fault for not knowing my own limits. Please, give me a chance to live.”

As soon as the call connected, Brother Wang almost shouted these words, his emotions overflowing with regret and fear.

Now his heart was filled with endless regret. Xu Shaochen’s power could mobilize an anti-gang operation at any moment, yet he had tried to confront such a person head-on. Wasn’t that just asking for death? Plus, this time the operation was being executed with extraordinary efficiency, obviously aiming to wipe out the gangs in one swift blow.

“Oh, don’t be like that. Weren’t you acting all high and mighty earlier? Isn’t the airport your stronghold? Come on, try it out. Let’s see if the police can get into your territory to arrest people.”

Xu Shaochen spoke in a lighthearted tone, with a hint of mockery in his voice.

“Boss… No, Grandfather! Please, have mercy on me! I’m begging you, I was truly wrong!”

Upon hearing these words, Brother Wang burst into tears. At this point, not only would his business empire crumble, but he himself would be thrown in jail.

“I told you calling this number might allow you to beg for mercy. But I never said I’d let you off just because you begged. Alright, eat well, enjoy your last days, and prepare to die. You’re nothing but scum. The last person who threatened me has long been dead. Idiot.”

Xu Shaochen spat out these final words coldly, then hung up and blocked the number.

Brother Wang was unwilling to give up and quickly redialed the number, but it couldn’t connect. He tried again four more times, each to no avail.

    “Thud!”

Brother Wang collapsed to the ground, his eyes filled with despair and regret. It was over. Everything was over for him.

If he had known this would happen, even with a hundred times the courage, he wouldn’t have dared to provoke Xu Shaochen. They were simply not on the same level.

But that’s just how people are. They only regret when it’s too late, and by then, it’s completely useless.

Seeing this, the four lackeys turned pale. They had executed all of Brother Wang’s orders. If a thorough investigation were conducted, they wouldn’t get away either.

The middle-aged woman, who had been slapped, stared blankly at the scene before her. She still hadn’t figured out how the situation had spiraled out of control so quickly.
