Chapter Index

“Alright, Ruyan. Don’t be mad anymore. I’ll go shopping with you.”

Xu Shaochen wrapped his arm around Du Ruyan’s slim waist, trying to coax her.

“No way. You have to break up with that woman! Brother Shaochen, how am I any less than her?”

Although Du Ruyan wasn’t angry anymore, she still refused to compromise on this point. After all, this involved matters of territorial sovereignty.

“She knew me before you did,” Xu Shaochen replied.

Du Ruyan’s eyes widened in shock: “So, I’m the third party?”

“Strictly speaking, yes,” Xu Shaochen nodded.

From a different perspective, Du Ruyan suddenly didn’t feel as angry.

After thinking it over carefully, she realized that she was indeed the third party. Yet just now, Xie Wei had acted so composed, while she had been unreasonable. The stark contrast was undeniable.

Clearly, she had snatched Xie Wei’s boyfriend. Xie Wei didn’t kick up a fuss, but she herself had caused a scene.

In the end, Du Ruyan came to a conclusion. It wasn’t her fault. Nor was it Xie Wei’s. It was all Xu Shaochen’s fault for being a scumbag.

“You scumbag! I’ll convince her to break up with you too!”

Du Ruyan gritted her teeth and then walked towards Xie Wei in the distance.

    Xu Shaochen: “…”

Did I mess up? He wasn’t worried that Xie Wei would be swayed by Du Ruyan, since with Xie Wei’s intelligence and emotional maturity, she wouldn’t leave Xu Shaochen over this.

But when Xu Shaochen walked over, he was dumbfounded. Du Ruyan and Xie Wei were getting along like they were best friends, holding hands and smiling.

Can friendships between women really form this easily? Now he understood the term ‘plastic sisters’. A friendship that forms this quickly can only be called superficial.

However, the moment Du Ruyan saw Xu Shaochen, her expression darkened again: “Scumbag! What are you following us for? Get lost, as far as you can go!”

Xie Wei shot Xu Shaochen a glance, signaling him to leave first. She would handle Du Ruyan.

Xu Shaochen pursed his lips and walked out of the mall.

    ………………

    9 PM.

Xu Shaochen received a phone call from Dean Fu and they arranged to meet at the Chen Yu Grand Hotel.

It seems like Dean Fu did his homework. He knew the Chen Yu Grand Hotel was Xu Shaochen’s establishment.

When Xu Shaochen left, he brought along Long Yi and Long Er, who had been resting the whole day, and also took Long Si with him.

After all, the people they were meeting were criminals on the run, so safety came first.

Chen Yu Grand Hotel, Room No. 1.

Inside the room, besides Dean Fu, three other people were seated—two men and a woman. The woman wore a red short skirt, and the men wore a white suit and a black short-sleeve shirt.

“So, Dean Fu, have you made up your mind? If you agree, not only will you make money, but I can also fulfill your bedroom desires anytime.”

The woman in the red short skirt winked at Dean Fu. She was the one who seduced him into bed and recorded the video.

Dean Fu forced a stiff smile, looking helplessly at the three of them: “To be honest, I don’t need money and I don’t want to do anything illegal.”

“But we do,” said the young man in the white suit, who seemed to be the leader of the trio.

It was Dean Fu’s first time meeting this man. Previously, he had only interacted with that woman and another man.

Noticing Dean Fu’s confusion, the woman pointed to the young man in the white suit and said, “Dean Fu, this is Brother Li. From now on, he’ll be in charge of things here in Jiangzhou. You’ll be working with him often.”

Dean Fu didn’t say anything, but internally he was anxious. ‘Mr. Xu, why aren’t you here yet?’

“Dean Fu, you didn’t call us here just to have dinner, did you? A wise man knows when to adapt. You wouldn’t want our ‘films’ to be broadcast everywhere, right? I might not care, but what about you?”

The woman in the red short skirt kept threatening Dean Fu, trying to force him into submission.

    “Click—”

At that moment, the door to the room opened and Xu Shaochen walked in with his men.

“Hey, everyone’s here. I’m not late, am I?”

Xu Shaochen glanced at the people in the room and said with a smile.

    “You little…!”

The young man in the black short-sleeve shirt had just stood up when Long Si forced him back into his chair, pressing a gun to his head.

“Stay calm. My little brother here isn’t very good with guns. His hands might shake, and no one wants to see how that could end.”

Xu Shaochen lightly patted the young man on the face and spoke nonchalantly, completely ignoring the murderous glare in his eyes.

The woman in the red short skirt and Brother Li’s faces instantly changed. They clearly hadn’t expected this.

The woman in the red short skirt glared at Dean Fu, gritting her teeth: “Fu, you bastard! You tricked us!”

    “Slap!”

Xu Shaochen slapped the woman across the face: “If I didn’t tell you to talk, then shut up. I’m the one in charge here, got it?”

The woman in the red short skirt covered her face silently and stared angrily at Xu Shaochen.

    “Mr. Xu.”

Dean Fu got up and gave his seat to Xu Shaochen, then stood behind him.

“Buddy, which gang are you from? Introduce yourself. In a place like Canglan Province, we might even know each other.”

Brother Li looked at Xu Shaochen and spoke calmly, as if trying to show his formidable background by mentioning the whole of Canglan Province.

“Never heard of you. I’m not from a gang. My last name is Xu, and I’m just a student. So, how about you two introduce yourselves instead?”

Xu Shaochen smiled casually as he spoke to them, as if chatting with old friends.

    “The name’s Li, from Yunzhou.”

The woman in the red short skirt remained silent as Brother Li spoke.

“You’re older than me, so I’ll call you Brother Li. Old Fu is a friend of mine, and his son is also my friend. How about giving me some face and ending things here? Otherwise, it’ll be hard for me.”

Xu Shaochen looked at Brother Li and said calmly.

Brother Li scoffed, shaking his head: “Little brother, I’d love to be friends, but I can’t give you this face. I have higher-ups to answer to. A few guns won’t scare me.”

    “Bang!”

As soon as he finished speaking, a beer bottle smashed into his head. Blood mixed with alcohol trickled down his face.

“Oops, my hand slipped. Wipe it off with this. So, what were you saying just now?”

Xu Shaochen looked at Brother Li apologetically and threw a crumpled napkin at him.

“You brat! You’ve gone too far! I’m warning you, you’re in big trouble!”

Brother Li was instantly enraged. He slammed the table and roared at Xu Shaochen.

“Long Er, teach him how to speak to me properly.”

    Xu Shaochen spoke nonchalantly.
