Chapter 301: Du Ruyan’s Call

“Please, have a seat. I’ll get you something to eat.”

Xu Shaochen greeted the guests and walked into the kitchen.

“Sis, how are you now? Are you relieved?”

Xie Wei sat beside Xie Lin, holding her arm, speaking softly with a sweet smile on her face.

Xie Lin’s expression was slightly stiff, and she spoke with apparent jealousy: “You better keep an eye on him. Men go bad when they have money. Be careful he doesn’t bring a vixen in to take your place.”

“That won’t happen. I’m not bothered by him having other women. Whatever he does, I’ll go along with it.” Xie Wei shook her head. Her feelings for Xu Shaochen resembled those of a fanatical cult follower.

As long as she had a place in Xu Shaochen’s heart, she was willing to do anything for him.

Xie Lin’s eyes flashed with a subtle emotion as she responded, “Really?”

“Of course it’s true. Sis, if you want, I can help.” Xie Wei’s tone was playful, but her eyes were locked on Xie Lin.

Xie Lin shook her head, slightly annoyed. “You silly girl, what nonsense are you talking about? I wouldn’t do something so shameless.”

But despite her words, only she knew what she was truly thinking.

“Here, everyone, have some fruits.”

Xu Shaochen came out with a plate of washed fruits, interrupting the conversation.

Zhou Fan, Li Qi, and Liu Chao were completely at ease, while Xie Wei appeared natural, and Xie Lin maintained her elegance.

“Hey, Xu, did you know our School is holding an anniversary celebration before the summer break?”

Zhou Fan bit into an apple and suddenly remembered to inform Xu Shaochen.

“Yes. You’ve been away from School lately, so you probably didn’t know. I hear it’s going to be a big event.”

“They’re even inviting the famous alumni who graduated from our School.”

Liu Chao and Li Qi both chimed in, sharing what they knew about the upcoming School celebration.

“Well, now I know. But it doesn’t seem to have much to do with us.” Xu Shaochen responded nonchalantly.

Li Qi and the others were on the same page. It was just a topic of conversation for them.

The School anniversary is really just a show for the School and the successful graduates. As current students, they were merely there to cheer.

An hour later, the guests took their leave.

Xu Shaochen helped them call for a car, knowing his car couldn’t fit everyone.

As the two cars drove away, Xu Shaochen opened his palm to reveal a crumpled piece of paper. Unfolding it, he saw it was a phone number.

Xu Shaochen chuckled and casually tossed it into a nearby trash can.

The note was from Xie Lin; her intentions were obvious. It seemed she had some thoughts after hearing about Xu Shaochen’s escapades from Xie Wei.

But the current Xu Shaochen was no longer the same person. He was immune to beautiful women after seeing so many, and Xie Lin was no match for Xie Wei in terms of looks.

Trying to seduce her sister’s boyfriend right in front of her? Xu Shaochen wasn’t interested in such a woman.

More importantly, he didn’t want to create any rift between himself and Xie Wei. He genuinely liked Xie Wei.

Yawning, Xu Shaochen was ready to take a nap. After all, last night with Du Ruyan went on too long, and getting up early left him feeling tired.

“Ring, ring, ring…”

His phone started ringing at that moment.

Seeing it was Du Ruyan calling, Xu Shaochen quickly answered, “Ruyan…”

“Shaochen, please come to my house quickly. Something’s happened, and I don’t know what to do.”

Xu Shaochen barely managed to get out two words before Du Ruyan’s anxious voice interrupted him.

Something else happened?

“Alright, I’ll come over right away.”

As soon as he hung up, Xu Shaochen rushed to his car and sped off in his Lamborghini, leaving the Villa Area.

A little over twenty minutes later, Xu Shaochen arrived at the Du Family residence.

“Mr. Xu, Miss is waiting for you in her room. The people in the living room are not friendly.”

The Housekeeper was already waiting outside. Seeing Xu Shaochen, she hurried over to greet him.

“Okay.”

Xu Shaochen nodded and quickly walked toward the living room.

Entering the living room, he found a group of people smoking, filling the entire room with thick smoke.

“Is this your place to smoke? Put them out right now!”

Xu Shaochen shouted angrily.

Everyone in the living room was stunned, exchanging confused glances, unsure who he was.

“Are you deaf? I said put out your cigarettes!”

Xu Shaochen shouted again, his cold gaze sweeping over them.

Although none of them recognized Xu Shaochen, they were all intimidated by his aura, and extinguished their cigarettes.

“You…”

Someone stood up, trying to speak, but Xu Shaochen ignored him and walked upstairs.

The man stood there, his face changing colors in embarrassment, seething with anger.

“What’s going on with those people in the living room?”

Xu Shaochen didn’t knock; he directly entered Du Ruyan’s room.

“Shaochen…”

Seeing Xu Shaochen, Du Ruyan’s face lit up with joy as she rushed into his arms.

“It’s alright. I’m here. Don’t be afraid. Tell me about the people downstairs.”

Xu Shaochen gently stroked Du Ruyan’s head and then led her to the bed to sit down.

“They’re my dad’s company shareholders. Now that my dad and brother are in trouble, their shares have naturally fallen to me. They want to buy out my shares and push me out of the Du Group.”

Du Ruyan explained to Xu Shaochen that the people downstairs were just a pack of wolves smelling blood.

“What’s yours will stay yours. With me here, no one can take it away. Let’s go meet them.”

Xu Shaochen spoke calmly, yet with strong confidence that gave Du Ruyan a deep sense of security.

The two of them descended the stairs and entered the living room.

Everyone in the living room immediately stood up.

“Miss…”

“This isn’t a place for you to stay. Whatever you need to say, we’ll discuss it in the company conference room. There will be a meeting in half an hour. If you don’t show up, you can forget about it.”

Xu Shaochen interrupted them without a hint of courtesy, then left the room with Du Ruyan, driving toward Du Group.

The people in the living room exchanged looks. None of them recognized Xu Shaochen.

“Damn, who the hell is this kid? Does he think he can meddle in Du Group’s affairs?”

“Let’s go. I want to see what this kid has to say.”

“Just remember our objective…”

The group murmured angrily before leaving the living room.
