The atmosphere in the conference room quickly shifted from tense confrontation to a harmonious tone.

“Are all the company shareholders here?”

Xu Shaochen asked.

“Vice Chairman Guo is absent.”

The shareholder who had earlier received a slap from Xu Shaochen replied.

Xu Shaochen turned to Du Ruyan.

“Vice Chairman Guo is the vice chairman of the company. He left for Mg Country two days ago,” Du Ruyan explained. She knew this from overhearing her father and brother’s conversation.

Xu Shaochen nodded, temporarily setting the matter aside. He addressed the room with a weighty tone: “All of you have been the pillars of this company for many years. It’s time for you to take a well-deserved rest, otherwise the company would seem heartless.”

“Mr. Xu, what do you mean by this?” Their expressions instantly changed, knowing that ‘resting’ was never a good sign.

Xu Shaochen smiled faintly: “I mean it literally. I’m offering you two choices. First, sell your shares to me. Second, keep your shares but resign from your current positions, limiting your involvement to collecting dividends at the year-end.”

After all, these people had already shown their fangs. If he were not by Du Ruyan’s side, who knows what more they might have done to her.

She was still a student. Even if she were to inherit the company, she would need to start learning from scratch on how to manage its operations and development. There’s no way she could be a match for this group of old foxes in matters of scheming.

Upon hearing Xu Shaochen’s words, everyone felt a blaze of anger in their hearts, but none dared to show it. He had made it clear that they were being pushed out because they threatened Du Ruyan’s authority.

Xu Shaochen raised a single finger and made a gesture indicating they were free to leave.

They all left the meeting room, suppressing their anger.

Xu Shaochen reassured her gently.

At that moment, the conference room door suddenly burst open, and a young man dressed in casual clothes rushed in.

“Ruyan, are you alright? As soon as I got the news, I rushed back from Mg Country. Why did Uncle Du and Brother Du have to go?”

“That won’t be necessary. She’s my woman, and I’ll take care of her,” Xu Shaochen said calmly, gazing at the young man.

“This is my boyfriend, Xu Shaochen.”

Du Ruyan introduced them to each other.

Guo Xiaotian waved his hand generously, smiling as he said, “It’s fine, Ruyan. As long as you’ve found someone you like, I sincerely wish you all the best.”

“Then I wish you to find a sister-in-law soon,” Du Ruyan smiled back.

“Sure, when the time comes, I’ll ask you to be the bridesmaid. I just got off the plane and rushed over. I need to head home first, but let’s have dinner together tonight.”

Guo Xiaotian smiled and pointed to the suitcase beside him, then nodded at Xu Shaochen before turning around and leaving the conference room.

Xu Shaochen watched Guo Xiaotian’s departing figure, a sense of unease flickering in his eyes. This guy was acting too calm and generous, which didn’t feel right.
