Chapter Index

    The meal was incredibly awkward.

Of course, it was Zhao Qing and Zhang Feifei who were uncomfortable. Xu Shaochen, however, was enjoying his food.

After the meal, Zhao Qing and Zhang Feifei quickly paid the bill and left.

    “Brother Qing, who was that?”

As they exited the restaurant, Zhang Feifei turned to Zhao Qing with curiosity.

Zhao Qing took a deep breath, “Someone I can’t afford to offend. Also, I didn’t expect that you’re college classmates with Mr. Xu’s girlfriend. Keep in touch with her. If she’s happy, and speaks well of us to Mr. Xu, our lives will be much easier.”

Upon hearing that, Zhang Feifei blushed deeply, feeling very hot. Didn’t that mean she had to cozy up to Liu Rushuang?

What kind of person is Xu Shaochen anyway? A university student can really be this powerful? …

    In the restaurant.

    “Your classmate is quite interesting.”

Xu Shaochen teased while looking at Liu Rushuang.

Liu Rushuang rolled her eyes irritably, “Who told you to agree to eat together? I knew what she was going to say.”

    “Ding ding ding…”

Suddenly, Xu Shaochen’s phone rang. When he took it out and saw who was calling, he saw it was Jenny.

    “I’m taking this call.”

After giving Liu Rushuang a quick heads-up, Xu Shaochen answered the phone, “Hello, Jenny.”

“Mr. Xu, I’ve sent you a personal housekeeper and a few bodyguards. They’re unfamiliar with Jiangzhou, so they’ll need you to pick them up at the airport.”

Xu Shaochen was startled by this, “Jenny, why did you suddenly send bodyguards?”

“Mr. Xu, you are the sole heir to my boss’s fortune. But the Xu Corporation is very large now, and there are always some with malicious intents who don’t want you to smoothly inherit the company. For your safety, please accept my arrangements.”

After hearing this, Xu Shaochen agreed, “Alright, no problem.”

“I’ve given them your phone number. They’ll call you once they land. They should arrive in about half an hour.”

    “Okay, talk to you later.”

After ending the call, Xu Shaochen looked at Liu Rushuang and said, “I’ll send you back to your office first. I have to pick someone up at the airport.”

Liu Rushuang nodded but felt uneasy inside. They were even dispatching bodyguards for him? It seems Xu Shaochen isn’t just an ordinary rich second generation.

After dropping Liu Rushuang off at her company, Xu Shaochen drove directly to the airport.

    Jiangzhou International Airport.

Xu Shaochen parked his car in front of a small milk tea shop, planning to go in for a drink while waiting.

The milk tea shop wasn’t big, and it wasn’t very crowded at this time. From outside, it looked like a young couple was running the shop.

“Boss, one cup of… Whoa, Zhang Liang!”

Xu Shaochen hadn’t finished his sentence before he was shocked to recognize the shop owner.

    “Xu Shaochen!”

Zhang Liang was equally surprised to see him.

“Long time no see, man! I didn’t expect you to be running a milk tea shop here.

Xu Shaochen smiled at Zhang Liang. The two were high school classmates and sat together for two years. They were pretty close.

But after graduation, everyone went their separate ways. Some went to college, others went to work. They’ve had less contact and fewer meetings; Xu never expected to run into him today.

“It’s alright, but this business is really exhausting. Forget it. What do you want to drink? I’ll treat you.”

Zhang Liang shook his head and looked at Xu Shaochen with a nostalgic smile. It’s been more than two years since graduation.

“Treat, treat, treat. You’re always treating! Yesterday it was an old classmate, today it’s an old classmate, and tomorrow you’ll treat a friend. Are you running a charity? There’s a business to run here!”

Just as Zhang Liang finished talking, the woman next to him slammed a cup on the counter angrily.

    Xu Shaochen was startled.

Zhang Liang looked embarrassed, forcing a smile at Xu Shaochen, “This is my wife, Zhou Li. Don’t mind her. Women have long hair and short temper.”

“Oh, I’m short-sighted? Then let me straighten you out. Zhang Liang, don’t forget that we haven’t paid off our loan for this milk tea shop yet!” Zhou Li looked at Xu Shaochen with disdain before turning back to Zhang Liang with a cold expression.

    “Bang!”

Zhang Liang slapped the counter and glared at Zhou Li, “Shut up! Treating my old classmate to some milk tea won’t bankrupt us!”

“Your so-called classmates have any face left? It was fine the first time, but three or four times a month? Did we open this shop just for them?” Zhou Li’s rage only grew as she chewed Zhang Liang out.

Xu Shaochen quickly interrupted them, “Liangzi, you two should stop fighting…”

“What do you have to say? How dare you try to break up a fight! Do you even know why we’re fighting? Look at yourselves; none of you can even afford a cup of milk tea! You’ve lived for over twenty years, and you’re all useless. I feel embarrassed for you!”

Zhou Li cut Xu Shaochen off in a fit of rage before he could finish speaking, pointing her finger nearly at his nose.

Xu Shaochen was caught completely off guard by her outburst; he felt wronged. How was he to know that a few brainless old classmates had done this? Today was his first time here, alright?

“Excuse me, sorry to interrupt. Can the owner of that black Mercedes outside please move their car?”

At that moment, a traffic officer entered the shop, finally stopping their argument.

Zhou Li and Zhang Liang exchanged a glance and looked outside, where they saw a sleek black Mercedes parked just outside.

“I don’t know, it’s not…” Zhang Liang was about to say the car wasn’t theirs.

But Xu Shaochen spoke first, “It’s mine. What’s the problem?” he asked, looking at the officer.

Upon hearing that, both Zhou Li and Zhang Liang’s eyes widened in shock and disbelief.

Though they didn’t know the exact price of that car, its imposing air suggested it was worth at least a million.

Zhou Li’s face turned red with embarrassment as she felt like her face had been slapped. She had just been pointing at Xu Shaochen’s nose and scolding him, but someone who drives such an expensive car clearly wouldn’t be short of milk tea money.

However, Zhang Liang had never mentioned having a wealthy friend, so Zhou Li looked at him in confusion.

Zhang Liang was also bewildered, shaking his head vigorously. As far as he knew, Xu Shaochen’s family wasn’t wealthy, so how had he suddenly become rich? And wasn’t he still in college?

“Don’t you know you can’t park here? Move it immediately, or I’ll write you a ticket.”

The traffic officer gave Xu Shaochen a once-over, then frowned impatiently.

Xu Shaochen smiled calmly, took out a stack of cash from his wallet, and apologized to the traffic officer, “Sorry about that. I ran into an old classmate, and we might chat for a while. Would this cover any tickets? Consider it a prepayment.”
