Chapter Index

“Misunderstanding? I don’t think there’s any misunderstanding. It’s simply a case of someone being overly bold without knowing their limits.”

Xu Shaochen looked down at Zhao Liang and coldly remarked.

    “Tap, tap, tap, tap…”

At that moment, the sound of footsteps could be heard, and Zhao Yun walked in, drenched in sweat.

    “Xu…”

“Dad, save me! Save me, Dad!”

Before Zhao Yun could say another word, Zhao Liang, who was lying on the ground, saw him as his savior and desperately crawled towards him.

    “W-What… what happened?”

Seeing the miserable state of his son, Zhao Yun immediately panicked.

“Is this your son? You certainly raised a good one—he even dared to harass my woman.”

Xu Shaochen looked at Zhao Yun and said.

As soon as Zhao Yun heard these words, his face turned deathly pale, and his legs started trembling uncontrollably.

“Besides, if I recall correctly, I personally called you last night. Did you treat my words like nothing? Or do you think that because you’re in charge of the Chen Yu Grand Hotel, you can disregard what I say, and that my words are just empty chatter?”

Before Zhao Yun could respond, Xu Shaochen spoke up again.

Hearing this, Zhao Yun nearly fainted and quickly said, “Chairman Xu, please let me explain…”

“There’s no need. Hand over your work to the Vice President, resign, and get out. Consider it me showing you some mercy.”

Xu Shaochen rudely interrupted him. What he needed were obedient people. If someone wasn’t obedient, then he would replace them with someone who was.

Managing the Chen Yu Grand Hotel didn’t require a particularly outstanding leader. As long as it was Xu Shaochen’s hotel, the business would undoubtedly be good.

What Xu Shaochen wanted was for his subordinates to listen. Disobedience was unacceptable. Did Zhao Yun really think he wasn’t going to deal with him?

“Chairman Xu, I beg you, please give me another chance. I won’t dare defy you again. Please, I’m begging you.”

Upon hearing this, Zhao Yun immediately kneeled on the ground, clutching Xu Shaochen’s leg and pleading continuously.

Everything he had now was given to him by Xu Shaochen. If he lost the position of General Manager of Chen Yu Grand Hotel, all the glory around him would vanish completely.

To be honest, he did have some minor ulterior motives.

After all, Xu Shaochen didn’t really pay attention to the hotel. It was as if the hotel was solely his. He had the final say in everything there.

After Xu Shaochen called him last night, he instructed that no other guests should be received the next day.

But his son wanted to come with some friends to dine there. Normally, he shouldn’t have allowed it, but he wanted to test the waters by defying Xu Shaochen’s order, challenging his authority, so he agreed.

He wanted to see where Xu Shaochen’s limits were, then break through them again and again to gain more power and benefits for himself.

However, he never expected that his first attempt to provoke Xu Shaochen’s absolute authority would end his career.

“Get lost cleanly and swiftly, and perhaps I’ll still have a good impression of you.”

Xu Shaochen kicked him away. He had no use for people who became restless after their success, no matter how capable they were.

He wasn’t afraid of ambition. Ambition could drive someone to work harder, but he couldn’t tolerate anyone trying to challenge his authority.

    What’s this? A rebellion?

“You can’t fire me! I’ve invested so much effort into developing the hotel! Firing me over such a small matter—aren’t you being too extreme?”

Zhao Yun yelled at Xu Shaochen, feeling like the hotel should belong to him, not to Xu Shaochen.

Simply put, he’s grown arrogant and lost his sense of reality.

Xu Shaochen didn’t even give him another glance. He kicked him aside and then left the private room with Du Ruyan.

He was just informing Zhao Yun, not obligated to offer any explanations—Zhao Yun didn’t have that qualification.

In the private room, Zhao Yun collapsed powerlessly to the ground, filled with both anger and regret.

Zhao Liang stared blankly at the scene. It looked like he had gotten his father into trouble.

When Xu Shaochen walked downstairs, everyone was still in the lobby.

“Sorry for the delay. I had to handle some personal matters. I hope I didn’t keep you waiting too long.”

    Xu Shaochen addressed the group.

“Not at all, Mr. Xu. We completely understand. There’s really no such thing as keeping us waiting.”

“Exactly. We idlers have all the time in the world, unlike Mr. Xu, who’s so busy. You’re far too considerate, Mr. Xu.”

Everyone lavished Xu Shaochen with compliments, showering him with flattery.

Even though he knew they were just being sycophantic, Xu Shaochen still found their words pleasing.

After three rounds of drinks and a few more dishes, everyone gradually started leaving. However, those from out of town didn’t return home.

That’s because tomorrow was the day of Du Feng and Du Jun’s burial, and they wanted to participate in the funeral procession.

Xu Shaochen saw Du Ruyan back home, instructed Aunt Li to take good care of her, then left with Long San and Long Si.

After leaving the Du Family Residence, Xu Shaochen didn’t head home; instead, he had Long San drive him to the Company.

While on the road, Xu Shaochen scrolled through his phone and came across a piece of news.

The newly established Lotus Charity Foundation announced that it would build its first batch of charitable elementary schools in the southwestern region. The news was reported on various websites.

Xu Shaochen smirked, as this Lotus Charity Foundation was the same one he had assigned to Li Jianzhang to manage.

Why wasn’t it named after him? Naturally, it was part of his bigger plan.

After reading the comments under the news, they arrived at the destination.

He had Long San and Long Si wait outside while he walked into the Company alone.

    “Good evening, Chairman Xu.”

    “Good evening, Chairman Xu.”

As usual, employees continually greeted him as he walked through the Company.

Xu Shaochen maintained his dignified Chairman’s posture, only giving slight nods in acknowledgment as he walked straight into Liu Rushuang’s office.

    “Click—”

As he opened the door, Xu Shaochen noticed that Liu Rushuang wasn’t alone; her sister, Liu Ruxu, was also there.

Both of these women had had similar intimate encounters with him.

“Oh, is Young Master Xu here to check on Liu Rushuang to see if she’s secretly meeting another man?”

Liu Ruxu gave Xu Shaochen a flirtatious look and said coyly.

Liu Rushuang merely shot her a glare, then smiled at Xu Shaochen and said, “What brings you here?”

“What, I’m not allowed to come? Why is Sister Ruxu here?” Xu Shaochen moved forward and casually embraced Liu Rushuang.

    “Oh, stop it.”

Liu Rushuang felt a bit shy showing affection to Xu Shaochen in front of her sister, knowing that Xu Shaochen had already slept with her.

“Do you two ever consider how I feel? This dog food you’re dishing out is really filling.”

Liu Ruxu said with a hint of jealousy.

“Oh, let go of me. My sister and I were discussing business.”

Liu Rushuang struggled in Xu Shaochen’s arms.

“Business? What kind of business do you sisters have to discuss?” Xu Shaochen asked curiously as he loosened his grip on Liu Rushuang.
