Chapter Index

“You say we might collaborate again, but after this, the Company won’t trust me anymore. I don’t see how we can cooperate further.”

Ye Yang looked at Xu Shaochen as he spoke. He wasn’t a fool; only a fool wouldn’t graduate smoothly from a prestigious foreign university.

Everyone has their value. His value was betraying the Company this time to sell that land to Xu Shaochen at a low price, thereby profiting himself.

But after this, neither the Company nor his father would ever trust him again, much less give him significant authority.

Given that, how could there be a second chance for him to work with Xu Shaochen?

“If that’s your concern, Young Master Ye, there’s no need to worry. We’re friends, aren’t we? I can’t stand seeing a friend suffer, so I’ll naturally help you regain your father’s trust.”

Xu Shaochen placed one hand on Ye Yang’s shoulder and extended the other hand in front of him.

Ye Yang glanced at him, gave a faint smile, and shook Xu Shaochen’s outstretched hand.

They were mutually exploiting each other. Xu Shaochen used him to take advantage of Yunyang Group, while Ye Yang used Xu Shaochen to gain profits.

So neither of them lost out; the only party losing here was Yunyang Group.

Just as Xu Shaochen had said, Yunyang Group could only carry the Yun surname. However, Ye Yang’s surname was Ye, and he was an illegitimate child who could never enter the family spotlight.

So Yunyang Group didn’t belong to him. Since that was the case, he didn’t feel bad about Yunyang Group’s losses. In fact, he even felt a sense of revenge against his older brother.

    “Tap, tap, tap…”

At that moment, a middle-aged man wearing glasses came rushing over.

“What’s with the panic? You’re making a fool of yourself in front of Mr. Xu!”

Seeing the man approach, Ye Yang scolded him with a cold expression.

“Young Master Ye, the Eldest Brother has arrived in Jiangzhou.”

The middle-aged man with glasses spoke anxiously. He was fiercely loyal to Ye Yang and naturally knew that his master was at odds with the Eldest Brother.

Now that the Eldest Brother had come to Jiangzhou, he might very well stir up trouble for Ye Yang.

“What did you say?! Why is he here? Where is he now?!”

Ye Yang’s expression changed. He was quite apprehensive about this older half-brother, as he was Yunyang Group’s legitimate young master.

“He’s in the Company, in your Office,” the middle-aged man with glasses cautiously replied.

    “Bang!”

Ye Yang smashed the wine glass in his hand onto the ground, his face darkening. He said, “Go back and fire all the people on duty tonight. If any random person can walk into my Office, what use are they to me?”

The middle-aged man with glasses remained silent as he knew Ye Yang was just venting his frustrations on others.

After all, when the Eldest Brother wanted to enter Ye Yang’s Office, who in the Jiangzhou branch of the Company would dare to stop him?

Ye Yang took a deep breath and looked at Xu Shaochen, saying, “Mr. Xu, I might have to excuse myself. I need to go back and see my dear brother, Yunyang Group’s crown prince.”

“If you don’t mind, Young Master Ye, I’d like to come along and meet Yunyang Group’s young master as well. What do you think?” Xu Shaochen asked calmly.

Ye Yang frowned slightly, then smiled, “Please.”

The two got up and walked out together.

The Jiangzhou branch of Yunyang Group was just an empty shell, with the employees being people that Ye Yang had brought over from the headquarters.

In Jiangzhou, the most valuable asset of Yunyang Group was a vacant piece of land, and the rest were insignificant small businesses.

“I fear my brother has come with no good intentions. From what I know, he has never set foot in Yunzhou, but he showed up right after I got here. He won’t be content unless he picks at me every few days.”

In the Maybach, Ye Yang loosened the button on his collar, a sarcastic smile curling on his face.

“Hehe, that just shows how much of a threat you are to him, Young Master Ye. If you weren’t, why would he be so nervous about you? His anxiety only further proves your strength.”

Xu Shaochen responded casually. Though he knew Ye Yang actually had no real power, saying nice things didn’t cost anything, so he added a few more words.

These days, the truth hurts the most, so lies were much more comforting.

“Strength?” Ye Yang gave a self-deprecating smile and shook his head. He then changed the subject, “He’s here now. Our cooperation might fall through. He absolutely won’t allow this to happen.”

“No, Young Master Ye, you’re underestimating him. He’ll pretend not to know until the deal is sealed. Only then will he inform your father, and that’s how he’ll deliver a fatal blow to you.”

Xu Shaochen shook his head. Ye Yang’s thinking was too narrow and short-sighted.

Ye Yang furrowed his brows, “Then we definitely can’t go through with this.”

“Why not?” Xu Shaochen asked in return.

Ye Yang was slightly confused, not understanding Xu Shaochen’s meaning. His older brother was already here, so how could he carry out this operation right under his nose?

Xu Shaochen chuckled, speaking slowly, “Don’t forget, this is Jiangzhou, not Yijing. And in Jiangzhou, this is my territory. Whether it’s a dragon or a tiger, it has to bow down here. In Jiangzhou, there’s only my voice, Xu Shaochen’s!”

Seeing Xu Shaochen’s overwhelming confidence, Ye Yang suddenly felt a longing. How great would it be if he could also speak with such dominance?

But that was impossible. After all, he had an older brother above him, so many shareholders in the Company, and a biased father.

“Why don’t…” Ye Yang’s eyes flashed with a cold light as he made a throat-slitting gesture toward Xu Shaochen.

Xu Shaochen really didn’t want to talk to this idiot anymore. Still, a fool’s money was the easiest to earn, so for the sake of cash, Xu Shaochen patiently dispelled his foolish idea:

“Young Master Ye, I advise you not to consider that. If your brother were to die in Jiangzhou, whether you’re involved or not, you’d be implicated. Given your father’s temper, he’d rather transfer the Company to someone else than leave it to you.”

The Yunyang Group CEO’s notorious temper was known nationwide. He had even clashed with local officials multiple times. As a result, Yunyang Group’s headquarters had been relocated four times since its establishment.

Eventually, it settled in its current location in Yijing.

    “Damn it!”

Hearing this, Ye Yang swore loudly out of frustration. He believed what Xu Shaochen had said. If something happened to his brother, his father might hand the Company to another shareholder but not to him.

It was too heartbreaking, making him furious.

After being an illegitimate child for so many years, not only did he not get any compensation, but he was also treated differently in every way. How could he not be angry?

Seeing Ye Yang’s twisted expression, Xu Shaochen shrugged.

The Yunyang Group CEO differentiated between his sons because he didn’t want Ye Yang to develop any ambitions, which could disrupt the current balance.

But unfortunately, he didn’t understand his son well enough. The more he acted this way, the more ambitious Ye Yang became, and the deeper Ye Yang’s resentment grew.

Simply put, Ye Yang had a somewhat twisted mentality and tended to go to extremes.
