Chapter Index

    “What do you mean?”

Hearing Xu Shaochen’s words, Yun Changsheng had a sinking feeling in his heart, and it kept growing stronger.

“Yes or no?” Xu Shaochen didn’t answer his question.

“So what if it is?” Yun Changsheng sneered coldly. “Yes, the person I’m waiting for has the surname Xu. Didn’t you say that aside from you, no one would pay more than five billion? Today, I’ll show you how I’m going to sell this land and crush your delusional hopes!”

“President Yun, don’t get so worked up. Stay calm, or I’m afraid your heart won’t be able to take it.” Xu Shaochen replied casually, with a gentle smile on his face.

Yun Changsheng scoffed and said disdainfully, “Stop pretending. If you have something to say, spit it out. Don’t waste my time.”

After speaking, he glanced at the time. It was already five minutes past the agreed time. Why hasn’t Chairman Xu from Chen Yu Company arrived yet? Could something have happened to him? Despite Yun Changsheng’s contempt, Xu Shaochen wasn’t angry. He smiled lightly and extended a hand, “President Yun, allow me to formally introduce myself. I am Xu Shaochen, Chairman of Chen Yu Company. It’s an honor to sit here and discuss cooperation with you.”

Yun Changsheng’s expression gradually stiffened, his face alternating between blue and white. He looked at Xu Shaochen in disbelief, feeling as if he had swallowed something foul.

Observing Yun Changsheng’s changing expression, Ye Yang felt utterly delighted. This was better than watching a traditional Sichuan opera face-changing performance.

He was ecstatic. Even the ‘clapping’ activity he had just enjoyed in bed was not as satisfying as this.

It was like drinking an ice-cold Sprite on a scorching summer day. How did that advertisement go? “Extraordinarily refreshing, revitalizing your spirit.”

    “Is it you?”

Yun Changsheng still couldn’t believe it and wanted to struggle a bit more.

“It’s me. Surprised? Did it catch you off guard?”

Xu Shaochen shrugged, looking at Yun Changsheng with a playful expression. Then he snapped his fingers at Long Yi.

Long Yi bent down, took out a cigar, handed it to Xu Shaochen, lit it up, and then returned to his original position.

Ye Yang also snapped his fingers, but Long Yi ignored him.

This left Ye Yang feeling a bit awkward. He pulled out a cigarette from his pocket and lit it up to maintain his demeanor.

“Sorry, but even if this land rots in my hands, I won’t sell it to you.”

Yun Changsheng stood up, pointed at Xu Shaochen’s nose, and said this before preparing to leave.

At this moment, he was just trying to keep his dignity. He’d rather not achieve his goals than let Xu Shaochen and Ye Yang be pleased.

Yun Changsheng would never bow down to Ye Yang, the illegitimate son who didn’t belong in the spotlight.

“President Yun, I advise you to think carefully. Whether you sell it to me or not doesn’t matter. But this land will likely become embroiled in disputes that only I can resolve.”

Xu Shaochen said without looking back, his tone light but full of confidence, as if he had Yun Changsheng completely under his control.

Yun Changsheng paused mid-step, his face showing uncertainty.

He had already witnessed Xu Shaochen’s influence in Jiangzhou. So many companies had simultaneously abandoned that land; it must have been Xu Shaochen’s handiwork.

Therefore, Yun Changsheng had to take Xu Shaochen’s threat seriously.

“If that’s the case, Chairman Xu, let me give you a word of advice too. In Jiangzhou, Yunyang Group may not be able to compete with you, but I don’t believe your Chen Yu plans to stay confined to Jiangzhou forever.”

Yun Changsheng turned around and said coldly, staring at Xu Shaochen. Xu Shaochen had threatened him, so he responded in kind.

Xu Shaochen smiled, stood from his chair, and looked at Yun Changsheng, “You’re lucky this is just in Jiangzhou. If this were on a national scale, Yunyang Group would have already disappeared.”

“Your words are truly ridiculous.” Yun Changsheng sneered, clearly not taking the threat seriously.

Yunyang Group had developed over many years, while he had never even heard of Chen Yu. So why should he believe it could be mentioned in the same breath as Yunyang Group?

Xu Shaochen shrugged indifferently, “Last night, you also thought my words were ridiculous. But today, I’ve slapped you hard in the face. If I were you, I’d call your old man and have him investigate my background first.”

Hearing this, Yun Changsheng turned blue with anger, but Xu Shaochen was speaking the truth, leaving him no room to argue.

He had never felt so powerless. He realized that in Jiangzhou, he couldn’t do anything about Xu Shaochen because nothing was under his control.

“Then let’s just wait and see.”

Yun Changsheng coldly threw out these words and strode out of the café.

He still thought the same—Chen Yu might be powerful in Jiangzhou, but on a national scale, it was insignificant. It couldn’t compare to Yunyang Group, so he didn’t take Xu Shaochen’s threats seriously.

“President Yun, if you change your mind, just call my company’s number directly because you don’t have the qualifications to meet me again.”

Listening to Xu Shaochen’s casual tone from behind him, Yun Changsheng was seething with rage. He had never met someone so arrogant.

Although he didn’t take Xu Shaochen’s threat seriously, a sense of psychological unease prompted him to do something.

He still called the Yunyang Group headquarters, asking them to investigate Xu Shaochen.

“So, how was that face-changing show, Young Master Ye?”

After Yun Changsheng left, Xu Shaochen sat down again.

Ye Yang gave him a thumbs-up, smiling. “That was great! I’ve never seen him so furious before; it’s really satisfying.”

“Young Master Ye, you should prepare to return to Yijing and further develop your business. We will have more opportunities to collaborate.” Xu Shaochen said as he looked at Ye Yang.

Ye Yang frowned, “But he’ll definitely tell the old man about what happened in Jiangzhou. I don’t think I’ll have a chance.”

“No, you’ll have a chance. Chairman Yun will give you that opportunity.” Xu Shaochen shook his head and said with certainty.

Ye Yang raised an eyebrow, “Why?”

“Because you are my friend, Xu Shaochen’s friend. Is that enough?” Xu Shaochen smiled as he said this, with a breezy tone.

Ye Yang was stunned. He couldn’t understand where Xu Shaochen got the confidence to say such a thing.

His thoughts were similar to Yun Changsheng’s—Xu Shaochen might be powerful in Jiangzhou, but what about outside of Jiangzhou?

However, he didn’t refute Xu Shaochen’s words, not wanting to embarrass him. Still, he didn’t take what Xu Shaochen said seriously.

“Young Master Ye, it’s okay if you don’t believe it right now. You’ll believe it soon. Goodbye.”

Xu Shaochen could tell that Ye Yang didn’t believe him, so after saying that, he stood up and left.

Ye Yang watched Xu Shaochen’s departing figure in silence for a while before suddenly saying, “You’re really full of it.”
