Chapter Index

    Jiangzhou University.

    Finance, Class Three.

“Hey, country bumpkin. Let me see your notes.”

Three women dressed in bright colors walked up to Zhou Sixian with a haughty expression, the leader tapping on her desk from above.

    “Here.”

Although Zhou Sixian didn’t want to lend her notes, she still reluctantly handed them over.

The woman who spoke was named Li Yao, the class beauty known for her forceful personality.

“Oh, your handwriting’s pretty, but what a pity, I don’t understand any of this. If I can’t understand it, what’s the point of these notes?”

Li Yao flipped through the notebook, showing a mocking expression, then tore it to pieces right in front of Zhou Sixian before throwing it to the ground.

    “You… What are you doing?!”

Zhou Sixian was instantly panicked, quickly crouching down to pick up the torn notebook.

“I wasn’t happy, so I tore it up. What can you do about it? Little bitch. You look so down-to-earth, yet you managed to seduce Senior Xu Shaochen? What a shameless hussy!”

Li Yao pushed Zhou Sixian, causing her to fall to the ground. Jealousy twisted her expression as she gritted her teeth.

Just like many others, she had a crush on Xu Shaochen.

But since Xu Shaochen’s girlfriend was Xie Wei, she didn’t dare show any interest.

But Zhou Sixian? A country bumpkin sitting with Xu Shaochen for a meal? Does she deserve that? Just outrageous.

I can’t deal with Xie Wei, but I can handle a bumpkin like you, can’t I?

In the class, some people watched with schadenfreude, some made snide remarks, some added fuel to the fire, and some just ignored it all. A few even showed sympathy or pity.

There were all sorts of reactions, but not a single person stepped in to stop it.

Zhou Sixian lay on the ground, tears streaming uncontrollably down her face, feeling utterly wronged, but she could only endure it.

“Little bitch, speak up! Do you keep your head down all day because you’re too ashamed to face people? Did your mother give birth to you too ugly? And you think you can reach for the stars as if you’re some toad lusting after a swan? Pah!”

Seeing Zhou Sixian crying, Li Yao only got more aggressive, her face full of superiority.

“I… I’m going to report this to the advisor.”

Zhou Sixian could no longer hold back, but her well-behaved nature since childhood meant the most rebellious thing she could do was go tell on someone. After saying the words, she rushed out of the classroom.

“Oh, scared me to death, Miss. I’ll see what she does today.”

Like a proud peacock, Li Yao walked out after her, also heading to the advisor’s office.

    “Knock, knock, knock…”

Even though she wanted to report something, Zhou Sixian still didn’t forget to knock on the door.

    “Come in.”

Hearing the calm voice from the office, Zhou Sixian felt a little steadier. She carefully pushed open the door and walked in.

As soon as she stepped in, Li Yao swaggered in behind her.

“Li Yao, Zhou Sixian, what’s going on?”

Liao Ping looked at the two of them, puzzled, especially since Zhou Sixian, though her head was down, was softly sobbing.

    “Mr. Liao, Li…”

“Let me speak. You can’t even get your words straight; how are you going to complain? Go back to where you came from, you ridiculous country bumpkin.”

Just as Zhou Sixian opened her mouth, Li Yao impatiently interrupted her and boldly said to Liao Ping, “I tore her notebook and pushed her, and she’s come crying to you about it. Mr. Liao, you handle it.”

Li Yao faced Liao Ping fearlessly, believing that if he was smart, he’d know what to do.

Liao Ping felt offended by Li Yao’s disrespect, but remembering her background, he swallowed his anger and smiled at Zhou Sixian, saying:

“Classmate Sixian, Li Yao’s your classmate. It’s normal for a minor conflict to come up. After all, it takes two to tango, so you must have done something wrong too. Isn’t that right? So, go back and prepare for class. Let’s just let this go.”

Liao Ping didn’t dare cross Li Yao, but a poor student like Zhou Sixian wasn’t worth considering.

Honestly, after all this time, he still didn’t even know what Zhou Sixian looked like.

“Compete with me? Hmph!” Li Yao sneered at Zhou Sixian with disdain.

Zhou Sixian was in disbelief. She never expected the advisor to say that. How could such a person be responsible for so many students?

“No! It’s clearly her fault; I did nothing wrong!”

Though Zhou Sixian was often insecure, she was exceptionally stubborn about certain things.

Hearing this, Liao Ping’s face darkened. Li Yao could speak like that because her parents were rich, but a poor student like you dares to defy me? Outrageous.

“Zhou Sixian, I’m looking out for you. Don’t be ungrateful. Do you still want your poverty grant?”

Liao Ping’s tone turned icy as he addressed Zhou Sixian.

    “I…”

Zhou Sixian was at a loss for words, her heart full of shock and anger. She never expected Liao Ping to use the grant to threaten a student.

“Why are you standing there? Get out!” Liao Ping sneered. A poor student, yet I can’t handle you?

    “Bang!”

At that moment, someone violently kicked open the office door.

“Ha, using poverty grants to threaten students? Such great arrogance! Who gave you that right?”

Xu Shaochen walked into the office, a cold smile on his face as he looked at Liao Ping like he was already a dead man.

He had just gone to Zhou Sixian’s class to find her, learned what had happened, and rushed over.

Because knowing Zhou Sixian, he believed she would definitely suffer for it, and indeed, he arrived just in time.

“Senior Xu, listen to me. It’s all that little bitch’s fault. I accidentally ruined her notebook, but I can compensate her. Yet she’s blowing everything out of proportion.”

Li Yao’s eyes lit up when she saw Xu Shaochen. She immediately put on a pitiful expression.

    “Slap!”

Xu Shaochen raised his hand and slapped her across the face. “Shut up, bitch.”

    “I…”

Li Yao wanted to get angry, but when she met Xu Shaochen’s cold eyes, she couldn’t say a word.

“Advisor Liao, give me an explanation.”

Xu Shaochen turned his gaze to Liao Ping.

“Explanation? Who do you think you are? Why should I explain anything to you? Did I allow you to come in? Get out and knock first!”

Liao Ping shouted at Xu Shaochen in anger. He knew who Xu Shaochen was and knew he was rich.

But now, he was standing up for Li Yao. He didn’t believe Xu Shaochen’s family was richer than hers. With Li Yao’s family backing him up, why should he be afraid of Xu Shaochen?
