Chapter Index

    “Mom, are you all packed?”

Xu Shaochen walked into the hospital room and saw that his mom had already changed clothes. She looked quite refreshed.

“There’s nothing much to pack. Let’s go! I really don’t want to come to this hospital again in my life.”

Li Xiaoli said eagerly. After all, no one enjoys staying in the hospital for long.

    “Alright, let’s head out.”

Xu Shaochen stepped forward and took the bag from Li Xiaoli’s hand.

It was filled with old clothes. He didn’t throw them away, knowing his mom would scold him for not being thrifty.

“Congratulations to the Madam on her recovery! May you enjoy good health and a long life.”

As soon as they stepped out of the hospital, Han Tianxiong and more than twenty people, holding flowers, shouted in unison, displaying an imposing aura.

“Whoa, damn! If I got this kind of treatment when leaving the hospital, I’d be willing to stay here every day.”

“This is way too extravagant. I wonder who that woman is.”

“So, this is what it’s like to be truly powerful…”

The onlookers were all shocked at the scene, and immediately, envy, jealousy, and admiration welled up inside them. They all longed for such power and influence.

“Xiaochen, this… what’s going on here?”

Li Xiaoli, a rural woman, was completely stunned by the sudden scene and didn’t react for a long time.

“Mom, these are all my business partners. When they heard you were discharged, they insisted on coming with me to pick you up.”

Xu Shaochen said with a smile.

“Oh, well… thank you. Thank you all.”

Li Xiaoli awkwardly said, but her heart was filled with relief. Her son would never have to live a hard life in the future.

“Mom, let’s get in the car. We’ll go have a meal to celebrate your discharge.”

Xu Shaochen said, holding his mother’s arm.

Li Xiaoli scolded, “Celebrate what? Why spend that money? Save it for your future bride!”

“Mom, it’s not like I’m short of a bride. Besides, everyone is waiting for you.” Xu Shaochen replied, not sure whether to laugh or cry.

Hearing this, Li Xiaoli looked at Han Tianxiong and the others who were still standing, and finally nodded, getting into the car with Xu Shaochen.

Once in the car, Li Xiaoli was still very nervous. She had never ridden in such a luxurious car in her life.

“Mom, relax. This car belongs to us, so even if it’s broken, it’s okay.”

Xu Shaochen said as he hammered the car door hard.

    “Bang! Bang!”

“Hey, you brat! What are you doing? What if it breaks? So what if you have money? You still need to be frugal.”

Li Xiaoli watched this scene and angrily knocked on Xu Shaochen’s head, reclaiming her mother’s authority.

    Xu Shaochen grinned.

They soon arrived at their destination.

As expected, Han Tianxiong and his men had rented out the entire Chen Yu Hotel.

“Mom, this hotel is also ours.”

Xu Shaochen said as he watched the utterly shocked Li Xiaoli.

“This too?” Li Xiaoli felt it was unbelievable.

Xu Shaochen led Li Xiaoli to the main table and then called the waiter to start serving the dishes.

“Let me toast everyone first—thank you all for taking the time to pick up my mother from the hospital.”

Xu Shaochen raised his glass. The first toast had to be led by the host.

“Mr. Xu, you’re too kind. It’s only right.”

“It’s the least we could do…”

Everyone stood up, raised their glasses, and downed their drinks in one go.

After that, one by one, people came to congratulate Li Xiaoli. Her smile never faded; she loved this lively atmosphere.

After the toast, everyone settled down to eat, and no one tactlessly disturbed Xu Shaochen and his mother.

“Mom, try this. It tastes really good.”

“And this one, this is the hotel’s signature dish. Give it a try.”

Xu Shaochen wanted to give his mother the best of everything, making up for the hardships she endured raising him.

“Sir, I’m sorry. The hotel is closed to guests today.”

“Get lost! If you block my way again, don’t blame me for being rude.”

At this moment, the sound of a dispute reached everyone’s ears. They all stopped what they were doing and looked toward the entrance.

“Oh, it’s really lively in here. I guess I came at a bad time.”

A young man in a white suit pushed the security guard aside and looked at everyone with a sarcastic expression.

Behind the young man were four bodyguards in suits.

From the way he spoke, it was clear he was here to cause trouble on purpose.

Everyone frowned—was this guy crazy? Coming here to mess with Xu Shaochen today? That was practically asking for death.

    “Xiaochen, who is this?”

Li Xiaoli also noticed the change in atmosphere.

“Mom, it’s nothing.” Xu Shaochen smiled slightly, but then his face darkened as he turned around and coldly said, “Who let this dog in? Get him out.”

He didn’t know this person, but judging by his hostile attitude, there was no need to be polite.

“Heh, Mr. Xu, you seem very angry. I’m here to congratulate your mom on her discharge today.”

The young man swaggered closer to Xu Shaochen, his eyes filled with disdain and mockery.

Long Yi and the other three men behind Xu Shaochen immediately stepped forward to block the young man’s path.

Likewise, the four bodyguards behind the young man also stepped forward, facing off against Long Yi’s group. The tension in the air was palpable.

“So this is the Madam. Congratulations on your recovery, but I’m a bit disappointed you didn’t die. If you had passed away, Mr. Xu, be sure to let me know. I’ll buy some fireworks to celebrate.”

The young man glanced at Li Xiaoli, then at Xu Shaochen, sneering as he spoke.

    Hiss—

Everyone gasped when they heard these words, their eyes shifting to Xu Shaochen.

Sure enough, Xu Shaochen’s face was now dark enough to drip water, and his fingers were turning white as he gripped the Wine Glass.

“Oh, I almost forgot. Let me introduce myself. My surname is Mei, from Songshan’s Mei Family.”

The young man named Mei Liangji smacked his forehead as if he had just remembered.

Upon hearing this, a few people at the table visibly reacted, clearly recognizing the Mei Family from Songshan.

Mei Liangji had come to Jiangzhou to bring a lawyer for Liao Jie and others. The trial for that brawl case would be starting soon.

Though his family had repeatedly warned him not to clash with Xu Shaochen, the rage Mei Liangji felt after seeing Liao Jie’s miserable state in prison was too much to contain.

So today, he came specifically to find trouble with Xu Shaochen. He had a good relationship with Liao Jie, and even if he could only disgust Xu Shaochen today, it would be enough.

“You… How can you speak like that? You’re too rude!”

Li Xiaoli stood up and pointed at Mei Liangji, her voice full of anger.

“Oh, Mr. Xu, better keep a close eye on your mother, who barely escaped death. What if she bites me? I’m afraid of getting rabies!”

Mei Liangji exaggeratedly took a step back and sneered at Xu Shaochen.
