Chapter 365: In the Blink of an Eye, Five Days Passed
by xennovelTime flew by like a fleeting moment. In the blink of an eye, five days had passed.
In these five days, Xu Shaochen also finished his final exams, and the entire nation entered summer vacation.
As for the issue with the ‘Boss’ in Hong Kong, since Xu couldn’t figure it out, he decided to set it aside for now. After all, the matters at hand were more important.
Mei Liangxin’s gunshot wound on his arm had mostly healed. He just needed to change the bandages and medication periodically.
During these five days, Mei Liangxin and Zhou Shuang’s relationship grew quickly.
One time, Xu Shaochen brought Mei Liangxin some late-night snacks.
As a result, he witnessed the legendary scene where the two were having fun, playing ‘Cowgirl’ in the hospital room.
It made Xu Shaochen’s pure face flush with embarrassment. Two days ago, Xu personally sent his mom back to their hometown.
His mom had grown tired of staying in the city and couldn’t stop thinking about their land and house back home. She insisted on returning.
When they returned, road construction had been going on for days, with some progress made. In a few more months, it should be completed.
Over in Songshan, Zhang Zhi and Zhao Yin each called twice, asking when Xu Shaochen would go there.
It was clear that the situation over there urgently needed his presence.
So Xu, Mei Liangxin, Zhao Qing, and Zhang Wei had arranged to head to Songshan the next day.
Oh right, there was one more thing.
The praise for the Lotus Charity Foundation online was getting louder, while criticism of Chen Yu’s relentless focus on making money without donating was growing.
Of course, most of this was being stirred up by Xu Shaochen’s online supporters. In no time, it would be time to draw in the net.
“Boss, I’ve packed your clean clothes. The clothes you’ll wear tomorrow are on the nightstand.”
Linda came downstairs and said sweetly to Xu Shaochen.
“Thanks, my little darling Linda. Come, give me a kiss. Once I’m in Songshan, it’ll be a while before I can kiss you again.”
Xu Shaochen motioned for Linda to sit on his lap.
“Boss, plane tickets aren’t that expensive. If you want, I can come over and stay with you for a couple of days.”
Linda wrapped her arms around Xu Shaochen’s arm, speaking softly.
“Forget it. The company can’t manage without you, our capable businesswoman.”
Xu Shaochen complimented her. He thought to himself, ‘If Linda goes along, how will I find a chance to make a move on Mei Liangxin’s sister?’ Alas, this is the way of a scoundrel—a facade in public, tricks behind the scenes, yet somehow making the girl feel blissful.
“Breaking news: According to the latest reports from our station’s reporter, the chairman of Xu Corporation’s subsidiary in Stick Nation, Han Taiyu, was attacked at a banquet last night. Thanks to prompt medical attention, he has pulled through. The police stated that the two attackers are still at large…”
Suddenly, a piece of news on the TV caught the attention of both of them.
They exchanged glances, and Xu Shaochen was utterly shocked. ‘Holy crap! Chen Jing and Zhao Rongyao almost killed Han Taiyu!’
He only intended for them to give Han Taiyu a hard time, but they overdid it, injuring him severely.
“What a shame.” Linda sighed. It was a shame Han Taiyu didn’t die.
Ever since she knew that Han Taiyu schemed against Xu Shaochen, she had wished for his death every moment.
If Xu Shaochen hadn’t forbidden it, Jenny’s president could have had Xu Corporation’s security division eliminate Han Taiyu at any time.
Xu Shaochen smiled bitterly and pulled Linda closer: “Alright, I’ve said it before. It’s safer to let him stay in that position for now.”
“Hm, I just find him so annoying.” Linda pouted, her voice full of anger.
“Then I’ll make sure you’re satisfied.”
Xu Shaochen gave a mischievous smile and carried Linda upstairs.
Soon, the bedroom was full of chaos, accompanied by Linda’s sharp screams.
Tonight, Xu Shaochen didn’t care about sparing his strength!
……..
The next morning.
At Jiangzhou Airport.
Xu Shaochen didn’t let anyone see him off. It was just him, Mei Liangxin, Zhao Qing, Zhang Wei, Long Yi, and Long Er.
Since they might need to stay in Songshan for a few days, Xu left Long San and Long Si in Jiangzhou under Linda’s command.
“Chairman Xu, you didn’t sleep well last night, did you?” Zhang Wei asked, looking at Xu Shaochen.
Xu Shaochen responded absentmindedly: “What makes you say that?”
“Mr. Xu, anyone can tell by those dark circles under your eyes.” Zhao Qing said with a wry smile.
“Nonsense!” Mei Liangxin cursed, smirking coldly: “He didn’t sleep poorly; it’s obvious he’s been indulging too much.”
“How do you know?” Zhang Wei and Zhao Qing asked.
Mei Liangxin pointed at himself with a cheeky grin: “Look at me, don’t I look just like him? I have experience because I’ve recently fallen in love and have been inseparable from my little girlfriend.”
“Get lost!”
Zhao Qing and Zhang Wei cursed, incredulous that they were getting another dose of dog food out of the blue, right after Valentine’s Day.
Amidst the banter, they boarded the plane—first-class, as expected for the wealthy.
“First class is truly the best.”
Zhao Qing couldn’t help but remark. The poor guy hadn’t even flown before meeting Xu Shaochen.
Now, he was instantly on first class, making him wonder if he had become a bit too indulgent.
“Country bumpkin.”
Across the aisle, a young man looked at Zhao Qing with scorn and sneered with disdain.
“Kid, who are you talking about?”
Zhao Qing’s face darkened as he looked at the young man with a cold glare.
He had a bit of money now, and coming from poverty, he valued his pride.
Being mocked like that, he couldn’t bear it. He had to confront the person.
“Who, you ask? I’m talking about you! If you’ve never flown before, just keep quiet and stop embarrassing yourself.”
The young man smirked, full of arrogance, making no effort to hide his condescension.
“Say that again, I dare you!”
Zhao Qing stood up from his seat, ready to fight at the drop of a hat.
“Forget it. There’s no need to stoop to his level.”
Xu Shaochen glanced at the young man and calmly said to Zhao Qing.
Upon hearing Xu’s words, Zhao Qing gave the young man a defiant look and then sat back down.
With Xu Shaochen intervening, Zhao Qing took a step back. The matter should have ended there, but the young man seemed unsettled, eager to stir up more trouble.
“Oh, I took you for a bumpkin, but turns out you’re just a mongrel. When your master barks, you behave. Come, crawl over here and wag your tail for me. Maybe I’ll give you a bone.”
The young man mocked Zhao Qing with a sneer, beckoning with his finger and pointing at the floor in front of him.
Xu Shaochen raised an eyebrow and shut his eyes, pretending to sleep. If someone was determined to court death, he wouldn’t stop them.
