Chapter Index

“Young Master, calm down, calm down. Ungrateful child, get out of here!”

Gong Wenli, sweating profusely, soothed Xu Shaochen while urging Gong Ziwen to leave.

Staying any longer might further anger Xu Shaochen.

“Dad, we’ve worked hard for the Company for years, and this is how he treats us!”

Gong Ziwen said indignantly, glaring venomously at Xu Shaochen.

“Ridiculous! Has your salary over these years gone to the dogs? Throw him out!”

Xu Shaochen said coldly. He didn’t bother to argue with this self-righteous fool.

Long Yi and Long Er stepped forward without a word and dragged Gong Ziwen out of the room.

The entire room was eerily silent, covered with a layer of gloom, knowing this Young Master was not to be trifled with.

Especially Gong Wenli, who trembled with fear that Xu Shaochen might suddenly target him.

“If this happens again, I don’t mind replacing the management team in Songshan.”

Xu Shaochen’s eyes swept over everyone as he spoke each word slowly.

Favoritism in leadership is something every Company struggles with, and he could turn a blind eye.

After all, the tiny benefits they create were enough to feed the parasitic relatives they brought into the Company.

But letting an incompetent fool hold a high position, especially in decision-making, was something Xu Shaochen absolutely couldn’t tolerate.

“Yes, yes, yes, Young Master, rest assured, there won’t be a second time.”

Everyone breathed a sigh of relief, quickly promising they would return and fire all those relatives.

Though Xu Shaochen didn’t pursue them today, they had to be cautious just in case.

“Alright, there’s no need to be so dramatic. Your abilities are acknowledged by the Company. I just hope you don’t delay your future for petty gains.”

After establishing his authority, Xu Shaochen softened his tone, offering them a bright future.

After all, being overly strict might suppress them temporarily, but once he left, their backlash would be more intense.

Thus, the art of handling subordinates lies in applying both firmness and gentleness, with clear rewards, making it hard for them to figure out his temperament.

    ………………

    Tang Family.

The Tang Family was also a distinguished family in Songshan.

Both the Tang and Xie families were engaged in the steel business, so they were competitors.

Currently, the Tang family was hosting Xie’s young master, Xie Tianlin.

“Uncle Tang, the charity gala last night missed your family’s presence, and my father was quite regrettable about it,” Xie Tianlin used this as a topic opener.

Tang Zhongju chuckled and teased, “You little rascal, in previous years when we hosted the charity galas, why didn’t your family show up?”

“Brother Tianlin, you don’t visit without a reason. Let’s get to the point,” said Tang Zhongju’s son, Tang Siyu.

Xie Tianlin put down his teacup: “Uncle Tang, Brother Tang, I’m here on behalf of my father. The Xie family has encountered some trouble recently and plans to withdraw from the Fengyang District’s new city project.”

    “What? You’re abandoning us,”

Tang Zhongju and his son were first shocked, then furious.

“Uncle, we are truly powerless,” Xie Tianlin sighed in feigned helplessness.

“See the guest out,” said Tang Zhongju with a stern face.

Tang Siyu stood up and said calmly, “Brother Tianlin, please see yourself out.”

Seeing this, Xie Tianlin hesitated before leaving.

Watching Xie Tianlin leave, Tang Siyu looked at his father with admiration, saying, “Dad, you guessed it right.”

“See? I told you, that old fox Xie Jiuliang must be up to something,” Tang Zhongju took a sip of tea and sneered, dismissing his earlier feigned anger.

As soon as Xie Tianlin left, the Tang father and son changed their expressions.

Though they didn’t attend last night’s charity gala, they sent someone to gather intel, as this was a crucial time in the new city development project.

Having learned that Xie Jiuliang had taken a liking to Xu Shaochen, they investigated Xu Shaochen’s identity and speculated about Xie Jiuliang’s next move.

After years of competition, they knew each other well enough to deduce Xie Jiuliang’s intentions after a night of speculation.

“You go ahead of the Xie family and deliver our prepared data to Young Master Xu, then invite him to dinner tonight, bringing along Huang Wenqiang,” Tang Zhongju decided promptly.

Tang Siyu raised an eyebrow, then nodded.

Huang Wenqiang, son of high official Huang Tianfang, is the true power broker in Songshan, linking Xu Shaochen to high places.

    ………………

Soon after Xu Shaochen returned to the Hotel, Tang Siyu came to visit.

“Mr. Xu, I’m Tang Siyu. My father is the Chairman of Tang Steel. Sorry to intrude.”

Tang Siyu spoke politely to Xu Shaochen, well aware of his superior status.

“Oh, it’s Young Master Tang. May I ask the purpose of your visit?”

Xu Shaochen had already learned about Songshan’s notable enterprises and powers from Zhang Zhi’s materials, so Tang Steel was no stranger.

“To be honest, our Tang family originally wanted to partake in the new city construction, but with Sheng Qin and you, Mr. Xu, we knew better than to meddle. My father asked me to deliver this data to you.”

Tang Siyu spoke as he handed Xu Shaochen an envelope.

Xu Shaochen opened it, and his expression changed upon seeing the detailed data, indicating thorough preparation.

“Thank Tang Chairman for me,” Xu Shaochen said solemnly to Tang Siyu.

Tang Siyu nodded and then said, “Mr. Xu, I’d like to invite you to dinner tonight. Would you do me the honor?”

“I should be the one inviting Young Master Tang.”

Although Xu Shaochen initially planned to meet Mei Liangying, he couldn’t refuse after receiving such a generous gesture from Tang Siyu.

“Please let me do the inviting. See you tonight, then.”

As Tang Siyu finished speaking, he stood up and took his leave.

After seeing Tang Siyu out, Xu Shaochen called Mei Liangying to inform her he had another engagement and would have to reschedule their dinner.

Listening to this, Mei Liangying sighed in relief, grateful the dinner was off, unsure how she would have managed the evening with Xu Shaochen.

Meanwhile, as Tang Siyu left the Hotel, he ran into Xie Tianlin, who was on his way to deliver data to Xu Shaochen.

“Brother Tang, what brings you here?”

Xie Tianlin had a sinking feeling.

Tang Siyu was very pleased, sighing dramatically, “Since your family is withdrawing, we won’t need the data we prepared. So we’ve given it all to Mr. Xu of the Xu family.”

Xie Tianlin felt like a thousand horses trampled over his fragile heart.
