Chapter Index

Xu Shaochen just got out of bed in the morning when he received some news.

Lei Laohu and his associates have been captured, yet Huang Wenqiang is unharmed.

They surrendered because they were swayed by Huang Wenqiang.

After realizing they had kidnapped the son of an important figure, Lei Laohu and the others were in a panic and couldn’t think straight.

Si Mingfei was unreachable, and even the phone calls were unanswered, leaving them with no hope for the future.

At this point, Huang Wenqiang revisited the promise, assuring his own release, guaranteeing their prison sentences would not exceed twenty years.

Having lost all hope, Lei Laohu hesitated but eventually agreed as he seemingly had no options left.

After agreeing, he did something he thought was clever but was actually foolish.

He recorded Huang Wenqiang’s promise to leverage his power to reduce their sentences, to prevent him from reneging post-release.

Then, after Lei Laohu surrendered, Huang Wenqiang claimed the recording was coerced under threat.

Lei Laohu was stunned. This is the result of lacking education, being easily deceived.

Tang Siyu informed Xu Shaochen of this, saying the news was currently blocked, only known to a few.

It seems the important figure might leverage his son’s ordeal to make headlines.

Xu Shaochen was amazed by how foolish Lei Laohu could be.

Also, throughout this, Huang Wenqiang remained calm and clear-headed, notifying his father’s trusted team at the bureau to ensure news suppression.

Thus, while some business heirs are fools, these political heirs, influenced from a young age, are more calculating than ordinary people.

“Impressive,” Xu Shaochen could only say those two words.

Tang Siyu nodded in agreement, “There’s no way I could’ve done that.”

“That’s nonsense because your dad isn’t the city leader,” Xu Shaochen replied, rolling his eyes.

    Tang Siyu: “……….”

Is this supposed to comfort me? Why does it still sting?

“Boss, Young Master Huang is here.”

At this moment, Long Er walked in.

“Brother Xu, I took the blame for you this time. Knowing I’m freed, you didn’t even come to see me, which makes me quite cold-hearted.”

Long Er barely finished speaking when Huang Wenqiang entered, sighing theatrically and acting disappointed, like an Oscar-winning actor.

“Young Master Huang, what do you mean? I only just learned from Young Master Tang that you’re out,” Xu Shaochen smiled. However, Huang Wenqiang was right about one thing—he did take the blame for him.

Huang Wenqiang didn’t pursue the topic further, merely reminding Xu Shaochen of the favor owed. Then he shifted the focus, “Let’s go; it’s time to see off Young Master Si because the news lockdown means he likely doesn’t know I’m out yet.”

Because of Si Mingfei, he had suffered greatly this time and naturally wished to eliminate him quickly.

    ………

    Si Family.

    “Still can’t get through?”

Jiang Yaohai looked at Si Mingfei, suddenly having a bad premonition.

Si Mingfei shook his head, speaking in a dry voice, “Still off the grid.”

“There are only two possibilities: he ditched the phone to avoid tracking or got caught,” Jiang Yaohai sighed deeply, rubbing his throbbing temples.

In the kidnapping case, Si Mingfei was the mastermind, with Lei Laohu as the biggest evidence.

Being unreachable now is not a good sign.

After all, such evidence needs to be secured or it should disappear altogether.

But this fool Si Mingfei, instead of contacting to stabilize Lei Laohu, blocked them out of fear, easily pushing them to surrender.

Upon hearing this, Si Mingfei turned pale, looking pitifully at Jiang Yaohai, “What…what should we do.”

“General Jiang, quickly formulate a plan!” Si Nancheng also urged anxiously. Although the issue wasn’t directly his, Si Mingfei was his son.

“Yes, General Jiang, what should we do now,” Mrs. Si was as anxious as ants on a hot pan.

Listening to their annoying urgencies, Jiang Yaohai’s mind was in chaos.

“What to do? Surrender, then roll into prison and wait to die. What else?”

Just then, a mocking voice echoed.

The group almost simultaneously looked up to see Xu Shaochen, Tang Siyu, and Huang Wenqiang walking in, followed by Long Yi and Long Er.

    “You…you…how are you here!”

Seeing Huang Wenqiang, Si Mingfei and the others were shocked, faces full of disbelief.

Huang Wenqiang is free, so surely Lei Laohu is with the police now.

“Si Mingfei, you’ve got a lot of guts to kidnap me, fool!”

Huang Wenqiang glared coldly at him, speaking in a chilling tone.

“I…I…” Si Mingfei struggled to articulate anything coherent, his face drenched in cold sweat.

Xu Shaochen looked at Jiang Yaohai, calmly saying, “I said Si Mingfei is doomed; even Jesus can’t save him. Do you think you’re better than Jesus?”

“Xu Shaochen, spare him when you can. Si Mingfei can go to jail. Why must you destroy everything?”

Jiang Yaohai gritted his teeth. He found Xu Shaochen unreasonable; he could have exploited the Si Family for money, but he insisted on vengeance.

“Haha, that might be the biggest difference between a poor guy like you and me: I want justice, you just want money.”

Xu Shaochen chuckled, eyes showing disdain, then as if recalling something, added, “Oh, almost forgot, harboring a criminal, trying to clear their name. You’ll face legal responsibility.”

“Xu Shaochen, don’t push me. Behind me is Sheng Qin; we aren’t easy targets either.”

Jiang Yaohai looked at Xu Shaochen with hatred, grinding his teeth.

    “Ring ring ring…”

Just as he finished, his phone rang.

Upon glancing at it, he instantly changed demeanor, bowing ingratiatingly, “Chairman, what are your instructions?”

“Come back immediately. Don’t involve yourself in Songshan’s matters anymore. Return what you have to Xu Shaochen, or don’t come back and await death outside.”

Jiang Yaohai’s mind went blank, taking a moment to react before quickly trying to explain, “Chai…Chairman, listen to me…”

“No need to explain. I’m ordering you, not discussing with you.”

With that, the other party hung up.

    “Beep-beep-beep…”

Hearing the busy tone from the phone, Jiang Yaohai stood there, eyes vacant, motionless.
