Chapter Index

When Xu Shaochen and his companions arrived at the Night Mist Bar, a thug was waiting at the entrance.

After confirming their identity, he led them to the basement casino.

    “Boss, the people are here.”

The thug said to Li Bao.

Li Bao looked at Xu Shaochen and coldly said, “Five million, leave them, you can take the people.”

Xu Shaochen ignored him and frowned at Mei Liangxin and the other two. “What’s going on?”

Seeing the three with bruised faces and bleeding noses, he could tell they had been beaten.

“Damn, those bastards wouldn’t let us leave after we won money and beat us up!”

With Xu Shaochen there, the three felt more confident.

“That’s quite funny. A casino only allows losses, not wins. Are you joking?”

Xu Shaochen calmly said to Li Bao.

The surrounding gamblers gasped, looking at Xu Shaochen with sympathetic eyes.

In the Night Mist, speaking to Li Bao like that was a path to self-destruction.

Still too young, not knowing when to bow one’s head.

“Damn you, it’s not your place to question how I do things. Pay up and take them, or I’ll chop off a hand!”

Li Bao, not wanting to lose face in front of Nan Shao, stepped forward, pointing at Xu Shaochen’s nose.

“Li Bao, quite the authority. Wouldn’t think you rule all of Songshan.”

Huang Wenqiang, who was behind Xu Shaochen, stepped forward and said coldly to Li Bao.

“Yeah, Li Bao, do you even know who you’re talking to? If you want to die, just say it, no need for subtlety.”

Tang Siyu followed closely behind, seeing Li Bao as a petty thug not worthy of their attention.

Seeing Huang Wenqiang and Tang Siyu, Li Bao’s face changed drastically. “Why are you two here?”

“Don’t ask why we’re here. Do you even know who you were talking to? Let them go!”

    Huang Wenqiang impatiently said.

Li Bao felt troubled. Huang Wenqiang and Tang Siyu were on good terms with Xu Shaochen, indicating Xu Shaochen’s identity was not simple.

But offending Zheng Nan was also not an option, leaving him in a dilemma.

“Li Bao, can you handle it? If not, get lost, and I’ll find someone else.”

Zheng Nan glanced at Xu Shaochen and his group, then looked at Li Bao indifferently.

Li Bao gritted his teeth, saying to Huang Wenqiang and Tang Siyu, “It’s not that I don’t respect you, but today it must be handled my way.”

    “Damn…”

Huang Wenqiang and Tang Siyu wanted to explode, not expecting Li Bao to show no respect, embarrassing them in front of Xu Shaochen.

Xu Shaochen held back the two, smiled slightly, and said, “Five million, right? Not much. I’ll pay. Just give me the account number.”

Li Bao looked at Zheng Nan, who tossed a bank card onto the table.

Xu Shaochen dialed Liu Rushuang’s number. “Transfer five million to this account. The card number is xxxxx…”

After speaking, Xu Shaochen hung up and returned the card to Zheng Nan.

Moments later, Zheng Nan’s phone rang with a message showing the money had arrived.

“That’s better. The wise know when to yield. Otherwise, none of you could leave today.”

Zheng Nan stood up, smiling at Xu Shaochen, full of disdain and mockery.

“That’s right. The wise know the times. Judging by your accent, is Zheng Shao from Hong Kong?”

Xu Shaochen nodded, looking at Zheng Nan.

    “Yes,” Zheng Nan replied.

Xu Shaochen nodded, “Hong Kong is good. Zheng Shao should return there soon. Security’s not great here in the mainland lately.”

After speaking, Xu Shaochen led Mei Liangxin and the others out of the room.

At the staircase, Xu Shaochen paused, looked back at Li Bao, and smiled, “You’re quite something. Let’s have dinner together tonight.”

Li Bao was stunned, feeling something was off, yet had a bad premonition.

“People from the mainland don’t seem that great.”

Zheng Nan played with the bank card, a sarcastic smile on his lips.

Li Bao quickly flattered, “That’s because in front of Nan Shao, they don’t dare cause trouble. Otherwise, they wouldn’t know how they died.”

“You’re good at talking, like the little pug I have. Very pleasing.” Zheng Nan patted Li Bao’s face.

Li Bao felt humiliated but still kept a fawning smile, “Thank you for the praise, Nan Shao. I owe my success to you. I’m just your dog; whoever you want me to bite, I will.”

    “Hahahaha…”

    ………………

    “Shaochen, I’m sorry.”

Mei Liangxin, Zhang Wei, and Zhao Qing looked at Xu Shaochen, full of guilt.

Five million wasn’t much, but they brought trouble to Xu Shaochen.

Huang Wenqiang and Tang Siyu were still in disbelief. Did Xu Shaochen really admit defeat like that?

Xu Shaochen took out his phone and called Linda. “Did the people you got from the security company arrive?”

“The first batch has arrived, twenty people. Others will come after adjustments.”

Though flying to Longguo is fast, those entering need careful selection.

Some have records at relevant departments, and entering might bring trouble for Xu Shaochen.

“Choose ten to come to Songshan. I have some things to handle. It’s difficult without our own people.”

Upon speaking, Xu Shaochen hung up. Five million, not much, but did they really think it was so easy to get?

Tang Siyu and Huang Wenqiang exchanged glances, sharing a moment of silence for Li Bao and Zheng Nan. Knowing Xu Shaochen, how could he possibly suffer a loss?

“Let’s go. Take you to the hospital to reduce the swelling. You’ve been beaten so badly your mothers wouldn’t recognize you.”

Xu Shaochen sighed, looking at Mei Liangxin and the others. They paid a heavy price for their trouble.

Strictly speaking, it wasn’t their trouble, as the others clearly picked a fight.

How could they not leave after winning money and have to return double?

“Damn that Zheng Nan, from Hong Kong. You can tell he’s not doing legitimate business. Too ruthless.”

Mei Liangxin rubbed his swollen face, cursing through clenched teeth.

“Exactly. And that Li Bao is no good either, just a dog to that Zheng.”

“They even knocked out one of my teeth…”

The three cursed Li Bao and Zheng Nan’s ancestors.

It was their first time being beaten so badly.
