Chapter 402: Zheng Family of Hong Kong
by xennovelHospital ward.
“Did you do what I asked?”
Zheng Nan looked at Li Bao coldly and asked.
Tom and Jim were in the ward next door.
Tom was more seriously injured—one of his hands was completely useless.
As for Jim, he’s in slightly better condition. Although he looked miserable, the injuries weren’t too severe. After some simple examinations and pain treatment, a little rest should be enough.
“I did.”
Li Bao nodded, a bit guilty. He hadn’t really done anything.
Zheng Nan’s expression was difficult to read after hearing this. After a long pause, he said, “We can’t stay here anymore.”
If Mei Liangying got caught, Xu Shaochen would surely come looking for him.
With his legs in their current state, he wouldn’t even be able to run if that happened. Thus, the hospital was no longer safe.
Zheng Nan made a phone call to Jim, asking him to come over.
“Young Master.” Jim, with his head wrapped in bandages, walked into the ward.
Zheng Nan struggled to sit up and said to Jim, “Get me out of here.”
Although puzzled, Jim complied.
He stepped forward, lifted Zheng Nan into a wheelchair, and then pushed him out, completely forgetting about Li Bao.
Watching this, Li Bao’s gaze turned cold. It seemed his decision was the right one.
Zheng Nan didn’t care about his life or death, so why should he care about Zheng Nan’s fate?
Jim pushed Zheng Nan out of the hospital and then helped him into the car’s back seat.
Sitting in the car, Zheng Nan couldn’t shake a bad feeling. He couldn’t quite pinpoint what was wrong.
“Young Master, where to?”
Jim asked from the driver’s seat.
Zheng Nan pondered for a moment, “Find a hotel, not too fancy. Just an ordinary, inconspicuous one.”
Damn Xu Shaochen! If it weren’t for you, this Young Master wouldn’t be reduced to hiding like this.
Just you wait. I’ll make sure you die without a place to be buried, and I’ll also make sure your woman joins you in death.
Zheng Nan silently roared in hatred, his eyes bloodshot, a hint of madness reflecting in them.
“Yes, Young Master.”
Jim responded and then inserted the car key and turned it.
“Boom!”
The moment he turned the key, the black Mercedes exploded, becoming a blazing fireball, engulfing both Jim and Zheng Nan in flames.
Others in the hospital rushed out after hearing the loud noise. Upon seeing the scene, they were shocked and quickly called the police.
“What’s going on? What happened?”
Li Bao asked a nurse in the ward.
The nurse, still shaken, said, “A car outside just exploded, and there were two people in it. They were from the next bed, and now, I’m afraid they’re burned to a crisp.”
Li Bao was stunned at first, then his face turned ashen, sweat beading on his forehead.
The nurse didn’t notice Li Bao’s reaction and continued talking while changing his IV, “You see, so many problems with cars nowadays, it’s terrifying! Right after getting in, the car blows up.”
Li Bao nodded stiffly, his palms already soaked in cold sweat.
Only he knew that this wasn’t a car malfunction—it was a trap to send Zheng Nan to his death.
He didn’t expect that right after tipping off Xu Shaochen in the morning, Zheng Nan would be dead by the afternoon, burned to ashes.
This extreme and unyielding approach almost made Li Bao faint. Luckily, he didn’t falter at the last moment, or else he’d be the next to die.
Meanwhile, in another ward, Tom, who had narrowly escaped death, also received the news.
His heart was filled with the same fear and a sense of relief from narrowly escaping death.
If it weren’t for his severe injuries, he would have been in the car just now too.
After calming down, he dialed a number on his phone.
“Tom, has my brother caused trouble again? Can it be resolved?”
The call went through, and a gentle voice came from the phone, making anyone who heard it feel at ease.
Tom pressed his lips together, his voice trembling, “Boss… Second Young Master is dead.”
He knew that the Second Young Master and his boss had a strong brotherly bond; he didn’t know if it would implicate him.
“Clatter!”
The sound of something being knocked over echoed through the phone, followed by silence.
After a long pause, the voice on the phone asked again, “How did he die?”
“He was blown up… Jim is dead too…” Tom quickly recounted everything that had happened to Zheng Nan in Songshan.
“I understand. Bring my brother’s ashes back.”
With that, the call ended abruptly. Tom let out a long sigh of relief, glad that his boss didn’t take out his anger on him.
………………
Hong Kong.
In a high-rise office.
A young man in a silver suit finally put down his phone after the call ended, murmuring to himself:
“I knew it. I knew you’d get into trouble on the mainland. Otherwise, you wouldn’t have only dared to tell me and not Dad. But I didn’t expect the trouble would cost you your life.”
“I’ve warned you hundreds of times to stay put and not cause trouble. Eventually, you’d pay the price, but this price is too high—so high that you don’t even have a chance to regret, and neither do I.”
“Ah Nan, the only thing Big Brother can do is avenge you by scattering Xu Shaochen’s ashes on your grave.”
The young man closed his eyes in pain, but when he opened them again, they were filled with icy resolve.
His name was Zheng Bei, 29 years old, Zheng Nan’s only brother, CEO of the Zheng Group, a renowned business elite in Hong Kong, regarded as the golden generation of the Zheng family.
Zheng Bei took a deep breath, straightened his collar, and then walked out of his office, knocking on the chairman’s office door.
“Come in.”
A somewhat old but steady voice came from inside the office.
Zheng Bei pushed the door open and entered.
Behind the desk sat an elderly man with graying temples but an imposing presence, Zheng Tai, nearly sixty years old, the head of the Zheng Group.
“Ah Bei, what’s the matter?”
Looking at Zheng Bei, Zheng Tai put down his work and smiled.
He was very satisfied with his eldest son, who fully met his expectations of a successor. Zheng Shi would surely rise to new heights in his hands.
Zheng Bei remained silent for a while, then, his voice hoarse and trembling, he said, “Dad, Ah Nan…”
“What’s that rascal done now! Didn’t he go to the mainland? Did he cause trouble again?”
Before Zheng Bei could finish, Zheng Tai roared in anger.
“Ah Nan is dead.” Zheng Bei completed the rest of the sentence.
Zheng Tai froze, and after a long pause, he said, “Wh-what did you just say?”
