Chapter 416: I Really Don’t Like Him

“Wang Xin, what do you mean by this? How am I showing off? I’m just speaking the truth.”

Hu Qian instantly exploded, as if someone had stepped on her tail. She angrily said, “And so what if I am showing off? I haven’t stolen or robbed anyone. Am I not allowed to show off? Are you jealous?”

“Jealous of you?” Wang Xin laughed in disbelief, pointing at Xu Shaochen. “Xu Shaochen is way richer than you, but you don’t see him bragging. Clearly, money doesn’t equate to class.”

Everyone who heard this was dumbfounded, looking at Xu Shaochen in disbelief.

Wang Xin finally calmed down, giving Mei Liangying an apologetic look before staying silent.

“Hu Qian, don’t you think you’re going too far?” Mei Liangying was on the verge of losing her patience.

She didn’t mind Hu Qian mocking herself, but mocking Xu Shaochen was too much.

Gao Di looked at Mei Liangying and pointed to a white BMW nearby.

“No need, Shaochen has a car,” Mei Liangying replied coldly.

Hu Qian said sarcastically, “Oh, he has a car? Is it a motorcycle he rode all the way here from Jiangzhou?”

“Alright, Xiao Qian, don’t say that. If Brother Xu can afford a motorcycle at his age, that’s already impressive.” Gao Di appeared to defend Xu Shaochen, but his words were full of condescension.

“True, not everyone can compare to you.” Hu Qian smiled as she leaned into Gao Di’s embrace.

Suddenly, Gao Di’s expression changed. He pushed Hu Qian aside and approached a middle-aged man who was walking towards them with a flattering smile on his face.

“Director Chen! What a coincidence meeting you here!”

“Gao Di? Step aside, I’m busy.”

The middle-aged man, whom Gao Di had addressed as Director Chen, frowned and walked right past him, heading straight for Xu Shaochen. He smiled respectfully and said:

“Young Master Xu, Miss Mei, I didn’t expect to run into you two here. What a coincidence! Are you planning to head back now?”

Wow! The onlookers were all shocked, watching Xu Shaochen in disbelief.

They had just seen Gao Di groveling like a dog in front of this Director Chen, but now, Director Chen was being so deferential to Xu Shaochen.

Even Gao Di and Hu Qian were stunned, unable to react for a while.

“Who are you…?” Xu Shaochen looked at the middle-aged man in front of him, frowning.

Director Chen hurriedly pulled out a business card and handed it to him. “Young Master Xu, it’s understandable that you wouldn’t remember someone of my position. I was fortunate enough to be present when Chairman Xu signed the Fengyang District New Town construction contract and caught a glimpse of you then.”

The Fengyang District New Town construction project was a big deal, something everyone had heard about.

But none of them had expected that Xu Shaochen would be the one to take control of it. What kind of power and influence did that imply?

So, everything Wang Xin said earlier was true: Xu Shaochen really was rich, and not just rich—super rich.

“This… this is impossible.”

Gao Di and Hu Qian were in utter disbelief. They couldn’t accept the fact that a poor student had suddenly become a wealthy tycoon.

Their faces alternated between green and pale, as if they had been slapped hard several times, burning with pain.

When they thought about how they had just acted so high and mighty in front of Xu Shaochen, the thought of him possibly watching them like a monkey performance now seemed utterly ridiculous.

“So, do you know him?” Xu Shaochen looked at the business card in his hand, then pointed at Gao Di.

Director Chen quickly nodded, “Yes, we have some cooperation.”

Xu Shaochen nodded, then waved over Long Yi and the others in the distance.

Three Maybachs drove over, and Long Yi got out to open the backseat door. “Boss, please get in.”

Everyone’s minds went completely blank, especially the men. The thought that they had just been hanging around with such a wealthy person left them feeling weak and unsteady on their feet.

“If any of you need help, feel free to contact Xiaoying. I’ll never refuse to assist if I can.”

Xu Shaochen said this to Mei Liangying’s classmates, giving her a bit of face before he bent down and got into the car.

Just before leaving, Xu Shaochen lowered the car window and looked at Director Chen, pointing at Gao Di. “I really don’t like him.”

“Understood, Young Master Xu. I will immediately terminate all cooperation with him,” Director Chen replied, his voice firm and resolute.

Gao Di’s face turned deathly pale as he looked at Xu Shaochen. “No, you can’t do this! Xiaoying, say something! Xiaoying, I was wrong! I was wrong!”

Director Chen was his biggest client. If Chen broke off this partnership, Gao Di’s company would be half-dead.

But Xu Shaochen didn’t even acknowledge him. The car window slowly rolled up, and the three cars drove away.

It was only after the cars left that Director Chen straightened up and coldly said to Gao Di, “I’m going to forcibly terminate all our cooperation. If you’re unhappy, you can sue me.”

Gao Di was instantly filled with despair, his eyes empty and his heart full of regret. Turning around, he slapped Hu Qian across the face.

“Smack!”

“You wretch! It’s all your fault!” Gao Di gritted his teeth as he spoke, then turned and ran after Director Chen, desperate to make amends.

“Gao Di, wait for me!”

Hu Qian covered her face, panicked, and ran after him.

Those remaining in place exchanged glances, feeling as though the entire day had been nothing but a farce. Gao Di and Hu Qian were like two ridiculous clowns.

“Xiaoying has excellent taste, but Young Master Xu… Xu seems really approachable.”

“Exactly. This is what a real rich person should be like. Gao Di and Hu Qian are nothing more than nouveau riche.”
