Xu Shaochen and Mei Liangying sat facing each other.

“Why did you decide to move the company to Jiangzhou? I told you I didn’t mind.”

Xu Shaochen said, looking at Mei Liangying across from him.

Mei Liangying frowned slightly, “You may not mind, but I do. I can’t always be the one compromising. What? You don’t like it?”

“No, how could that be? I like it a lot, I’m really happy,” Xu Shaochen replied with a smile, but inside he felt like crying.

He wished he could slap himself; he shouldn’t have said so much that day. He had completely forgotten that too much talk could lead to trouble.

What should he do now? There are only 24 hours in a day; how should he manage his time going forward?

“Where are you living now?” Xu Shaochen threw all his chaotic thoughts aside. He could only take things one step at a time now.

Mei Liangying smiled slightly, “I bought an apartment. I’ll take you to see it tonight.”

“Just to see the apartment?” Xu Shaochen asked with a mischievous grin.

Mei Liangying lowered her head shyly, “What else do you want?”

“Hehe.”

Xu Shaochen chuckled but didn’t say anything else. Tonight, he had to properly punish her for making him worry so much.

Suddenly, Xu Shaochen’s expression changed because he spotted someone familiar.

Well, not exactly familiar, but someone he had seen in a photo.

It was Yunbei Industries’ Chairwoman—Zhang Mingrong.

She was having dinner with a man, but she seemed somewhat annoyed.

On the other hand, the man was incredibly attentive. It was obvious he was just another obedient lapdog.

Xu Shaochen had always felt that there was something off about Zhang Mingrong and the Yunbei Industries behind her. It was the same old story—things that are too clean often hide dirt.

A company that large with constant cash flow could not be running so cleanly, without a single issue.

He even had this nagging feeling that Yunbei Industries was targeting him specifically.

But then again, he wondered if he was overthinking. Who would be dumb enough to establish a company in Jiangzhou just to target him? It would be a losing battle.

“You go ahead and eat. I just saw someone I know; I’ll go say hi.”

Xu Shaochen said to Mei Liangying, then picked up his wine glass and walked over to Zhang Mingrong’s table.

“Chairwoman Zhang, what a coincidence. You’re having dinner here too? Is this your boyfriend?”

Xu Shaochen casually took a seat next to her, grinning as he spoke.

Zhang Mingrong looked at Xu Shaochen with a puzzled expression, “You are…?”

“Allow me to introduce myself. I’m Xu Shaochen from Chen Yu.” Xu Shaochen extended his hand, feeling even more vigilant inside.

The people Zhang Mingrong had recruited were mostly from Chen Yu. If she hadn’t investigated Chen Yu, how could she have so specifically poached the elites from each department? And if she had investigated Chen Yu, there’s no way she wouldn’t recognize him after seeing his photo. What a joke.

But now, she was pretending to be confused. What was her goal?

After hearing Xu Shaochen’s introduction, Zhang Mingrong suddenly acted as if she had just realized who he was. Extending a delicate hand, she said, “So it’s Chairman Xu. What a pleasure to meet you! You truly are a young hero, the youngest entrepreneur in Jiangzhou.”

The young man across from her turned pale when he saw this, and gruffly said, “Arong, we’re on a date, can we please not talk about work?”

This was clearly directed at Xu Shaochen: Are you blind, idiot? Can’t you see I’m on a date? Get lost!

“Lin Kai, I told you, I don’t like your type. I… I prefer someone like Chairman Xu,” Zhang Mingrong said with a sweet smile as she looked at Xu Shaochen.

Xu Shaochen chuckled, “Chairwoman Zhang, you flatter me. Unfortunately, I’m not really into your type.”

Zhang Mingrong’s smile instantly froze, her face turning alternately blue and white in utter embarrassment.

She never would have imagined that Xu Shaochen would say something like that, completely disregarding her pride.

“Smack!”

“You bastard, what did you just say? Say that again if you dare!”

Lin Kai slammed his hand on the table, got up, and glared furiously at Xu Shaochen.

“Clatter, clatter, clatter…”

Long Yi and the others, seeing this, instantly surrounded Lin Kai.

Xu Shaochen looked at Zhang Mingrong with a smile, “Chairwoman Zhang, you’d better advise your friend. I don’t like it when people talk to me like that.”

But inside he was puzzled: A Hong Konger?

The record showed that Zhang Mingrong studied abroad and had no connections with Hong Kong. How could she know Lin Kai?

“Scaring who, exactly? You’re just some nouveau riche from the Mainland. If you have the guts, try touching even a single hair of mine!”

Lin Kai sneered at Xu Shaochen with disdain, pointing his finger right at his nose.

“Splash~”

Xu Shaochen poured a glass of wine over Lin Kai’s face, then turned around and walked away, not even looking back as he said, “Chairwoman Zhang, I’ll visit your company tomorrow. There’s something I’d like to discuss with you.”

“You bastard, stop right there!”

Lin Kai wiped the wine off his face, furious, and tried to rush forward, but was held back by Long Yi and the others.

“Enough! Lin Kai, what exactly do you want to do?!”

Zhang Mingrong scolded him, glaring. Damn it, how did this guy manage to follow her from Hong Kong to Jiangzhou?

Seeing that Zhang Mingrong was really about to lose her temper, Lin Kai instantly shut up, though inside he added Xu Shaochen to his list of enemies.

Back in Hong Kong, nobody had ever dared humiliate him like this, let alone pour a drink in his face. This was the ultimate insult.

If he didn’t make Xu Shaochen pay, he would reverse the way his name was spelled.

“Are you okay?”

Mei Liangying asked with concern, looking at Xu Shaochen.

“I’m fine. That guy was just a little too excited because he thinks I’m better looking than him.”

Xu Shaochen said with a laugh, pulling out his phone to snap a photo of Lin Kai, and then sent it to Linda, asking her to find out more about him.

“Tsk, shameless.”

Mei Liangying playfully scolded, “I’ve seen narcissists before, but never one this full of himself.”

“Well then, how about we go to your place and I’ll show you what even more shameless looks like?”

Xu Shaochen whispered to Mei Liangying.

Mei Liangying didn’t say a word.

Seeing her reaction, Xu Shaochen knew she had agreed. He got up, took her hand, and walked out of the restaurant. Someone else would take care of the bill.

When they arrived at Mei Liangying’s apartment, they wasted no time and got straight to the point. Saying anything more would have been wasting time.

At that moment, sweat was the most touching form of communication.

After giving Mei Liangying an intense workout that left her unable to get out of bed, Xu Shaochen found an excuse to decline staying the night and went home.
