Chapter Index

    Night, at the Villa.

“Boss, do you still have the energy for tonight?”

As Xu Shaochen entered the room, Linda’s figure, as lithe as a water snake, wrapped itself around him.

Xu Shaochen sighed and sat on the sofa, looking quite exhausted: “No more. I really don’t have a drop left.”

Linda pouted in disappointment, realizing that she would have to take care of herself tonight.

“Boss, I’ve found the person you asked me to investigate,” Linda said.

Xu Shaochen was taken aback: “So quickly?”

“That person was too easy to track down.” Linda rolled her eyes and tossed the phone to Xu Shaochen.

Lin Kai, twenty years old, third son of the richest family in Hong Kong. A pampered brat with mediocre business skills…

Xu Shaochen hadn’t expected that the guy was actually the son of the richest man in Hong Kong.

A son of the richest man in Hong Kong had actually come chasing after Zhang Mingrong all the way to Jiangzhou.

Xu Shaochen slightly furrowed his brows, feeling that something was amiss. After a pause, he said, “Get me all the information on the Lin Family, including sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, everyone.”

First, he wanted to sort out all the complicated relationships within the Lin Family.

“Alright, I’ll have it for you tomorrow.” Linda nodded. The Lin Family’s prominence made it easy work; it wouldn’t take much time at all.

Xu Shaochen returned the phone to her: “Are the bodyguards all here?”

“All one hundred are here. As you instructed, a security company named Chen Yu was registered, and they are all employed as its staff.” Linda snuggled up to Xu Shaochen’s chest, her hand wandering while she gazed at him, feigning helplessness.

Xu Shaochen sighed again. “Forget it, I’ll just give up on my health tonight.”

Forty minutes later, Linda, her face flushed and her expression content, went upstairs.

Xu Shaochen felt completely drained. After spending the entire day on a plane and being immediately subjected to Linda’s ‘exhaustion methods’ upon his return, it was a miracle he could still stand up, which testified to his outstanding physical condition.

At this point, he had newfound admiration for the so-called ‘professional companions’ who juggled multiple rich women at once, considering them the epitome of manliness.

    ………

    The next morning.

After a night’s rest, Xu Shaochen had regained his peak energy level.

He had breakfast and then went to the Company.

To begin with, he held a meeting to calm everyone down, then he selected a few outstanding employees for bonuses, and finally, he presented a grand vision for the future.

Now that the Chairman himself had come forward, the morale in the Company finally stabilized.

Of course, if Yunbei Industries continued their poaching efforts, some people would definitely leave.

After all, no one can resist the lure of money.

If employees want to switch jobs, Xu Shaochen didn’t mind as long as they didn’t breach their contracts. Everyone has the right to choose their own career path.

However, for those who had jumped ship and taken Chen Yu’s confidential information to Yunbei in exchange for new favoritism, Xu Shaochen would not let them off easily.

This was no longer just a simple job change; this was outright betrayal. They were seeking to profit at Yunbei by selling out Chen Yu.

Those members of the management team who had joined Chen Yu with great responsibility had now repaid his trust with treachery.

Did they really think Xu Shaochen was a charitable fool, just handing out money and advantages to anyone?

After dealing with these matters, Xu Shaochen went to Yunbei Industries to find Zhang Mingrong.

Whether by coincidence or an attempt to disgust him,

Yunbei Industries was directly across the street from Chen Yu, the office buildings facing each other.

“Hello, sir. How may I help you?”

Upon arriving at Yunbei Industries’ floor, Xu Shaochen was immediately stopped by the receptionist.

“My surname is Xu. I’m here to see Ms. Zhang. We have an appointment.”

Well, he had notified her the night before, so it should be considered an appointment.

“Are you Chairman Xu? Ms. Zhang mentioned that you could go straight in when you arrived. Her office is at the very end on the right.”

To his surprise, Zhang Mingrong had indeed left instructions with the receptionist.

Xu Shaochen walked straight to Zhang Mingrong’s office. Not bothering to knock, he walked right in.

Someone was in the middle of giving a report to Zhang Mingrong.

And it was someone he recognized.

Zhou Wei, who had been Chen Yu’s Deputy Finance Supervisor, was now the Finance Supervisor at Yunbei Industries.

“Ms. Zhang is busy, I see,”

Xu Shaochen glanced at Zhou Wei and then smiled at Zhang Mingrong. Casually, he sat down on the sofa.

    “Hello, Chairman Xu,”

Zhou Wei greeted him with a hint of embarrassment.

“You seem to be doing well,” Xu Shaochen responded with a slight, indifferent smile.

Zhou Wei looked uncomfortable, as if pricked by something, and remarked, “Chairman Xu, water flows to lower ground, and people seek higher places. I hope you understand.”

“So, you left with a copy of the Company’s financial statements?” Xu Shaochen asked expressionlessly.

Zhou Wei replied calmly, “Chairman Xu, you’re educated; you should know that accusations require evidence. I’ve never compromised my professional ethics.”

“Fine, then. See you tonight.” Xu Shaochen observed.

Zhou Wei was puzzled and snorted. He looked at Zhang Mingrong and said, “Ms. Zhang, I’ll get back to work.”

Without another glance at Xu Shaochen, Zhou Wei turned and left.

“Brother Zhou, did Chairman Xu say anything?”

As soon as Zhou Wei left the office, two of his former colleagues who had defected with him approached him.

“Hmph, what could he say? He’s just a rich kid using his family’s money to start a business. If it weren’t for our hard work, Chen Yu would’ve collapsed long ago.”

Zhou Wei sneered contemptuously. His lack of promotion while at Chen Yu had turned his initial gratitude toward Xu Shaochen into resentment.

“No, Brother Zhou, I meant about us copying some Company documents when we left. He probably knows, right?” one of the young men asked, worried because such actions were illegal.

“Even if he knows, so what? It’s not like he can prove it. Don’t worry, we three will support each other and rise to the top here at Yunbei,” Zhou Wei sneered, clearly believing that Xu Shaochen would find it impossible to gather concrete evidence.

“Exactly. He’s just a brat. Without his money, what gives him the right to boss us high achievers around?”

“Alright, I was just a bit concerned. Anyway, I’ve long disliked him. With our abilities, why remain in a subordinate role?”

“What’s wrong with taking some documents? After all, we generated so much profit for the Company. Taking something on our way out to secure our future is perfectly reasonable.”

The three of them continued to bash Xu Shaochen, attributing all faults to him while absolving themselves of any blame.

Too bad they didn’t understand Xu Shaochen.

    Xu Shaochen never suffered losses.

As for the evidence that they had copied Chen Yu’s confidential documents for Yunbei Industries…

Sorry, when does Xu Shaochen ever need evidence to deal with someone?
