Chapter Index

“Chairman Xu, I was wrong! I’ll confess, I’ll confess everything! Greed clouded my judgment, it was my fault!”

Unable to bear the psychological pressure any longer, a manager collapsed before Xu Shaochen, crawling to his feet while crying uncontrollably.

“Chairman Xu, I was despicable. I… I took some money too.”

    “Chairman Xu, me too…”

Once the first person confessed, the second and third followed.

All the mid-level managers involved in the embezzlement except for the real top brass like Chen Jing admitted their guilt.

Of course, since they confessed, they also inevitably threw Chen Jing under the bus.

“Vice President Chen, do you have anything to say now?”

Xu Shaochen looked at Chen Jing and asked.

    “A bunch of worthless idiots!”

Chen Jing glanced at those who had confessed, cursing them dismissively. Then he sneered at Xu Shaochen, “So what if I did it? Call the cops and arrest me! I’ve already transferred the money overseas. Lock me up for a few years, and I’ll still enjoy life when I get out!”

After saying that, he pointed to the wound on his head. “Oh, and by the way, I’ll be sure to accuse you of using private punishment. I’m sure that will give Lotus Charity a bad name.”

Chen Jing was now completely resigned. It didn’t matter to him anymore; after all, the money was already in his hands. Economic crimes don’t carry long sentences.

In a few years, the money will be waiting in the account, and he’ll be a free man abroad again.

    “Smack!”

Xu Shaochen raised his hand and slapped Chen Jing across the face, gazing coldly at him, “You’ve got it all figured out, haven’t you? Well then, I hope you live long enough to see your release.”

Chen Jing frowned slightly at these words. Was Xu Shaochen planning to kill him? But he quickly dismissed the thought; surely, Xu was just intimidating him.

After all, murder is no small matter; it’s not that simple.

“And the rest of you? Are you all as stubborn as him, thinking you won’t get burned? If you return the money, I can let bygones be bygones.”

Xu Shaochen looked at the others, speaking in a warm tone, giving the impression of a gentle spring breeze.

Of course, those who knew him well were aware that nothing he said in this state could be trusted.

    Let bygones be bygones?

To hell with ‘let bygones be bygones!’ Xu Shaochen was notorious for holding grudges.

That money was his to begin with.

Handing it back means everything’s forgiven? In what world does such a good thing happen? Even if he allowed it, the law wouldn’t.

“I… I’ll return it. I took three hundred thousand, but I didn’t dare spend a penny, Chairman Xu, not a single penny!”

One of the team leaders tearfully confessed, pulling out a bank card from his wallet and placing it on the table.

The other staff members quickly followed suit. Since they hadn’t taken much, all of the money was still sitting in their bank accounts.

“Chairman Xu… our money is in foreign accounts, but… but I’m willing to transfer it back immediately.”

“Yes, yes, me too, Chairman Xu. We were all manipulated by Chen Jing into doing this.”

“That’s right, Chairman Xu, we didn’t want to do this, but if we didn’t take it, Chen Jing planned to get rid of us!”

Everyone pushed the blame onto Chen Jing alone. Just a moment ago in his office, they had all been feeling bold.

But now, one by one, they were the first to cave. After all, the money they took was small compared to Chen Jing. Fleeing abroad wouldn’t last them a lifetime, and they’d be fugitives, leaving their homeland behind. Why bother?

    “Idiots, the lot of you!”

Seeing this, Chen Jing’s face turned pale with anger. These people had been so confident earlier, but now they were the first to back down.

Do they seriously believe that handing back the money will save them from prison? They’re delusional!

There was no way Chen Jing would return the money. He alone had embezzled over a hundred million.

This sum would support his later years abroad after serving a few years in prison.

“This is better. Let the finance team come in and help them with the transfers. As long as you cooperate, I’m still willing to show leniency. After all, you’ve put in hard work for the Company.”

Xu Shaochen reassured everyone while in fact, the Police Station officers were already waiting outside, ready to storm in at Xu Shaochen’s signal.

They would be sentenced according to the law, years of prison for their crimes. Xu Shaochen wouldn’t spare them, but he wouldn’t go out of his way to harm them either. Everything would be handled by the book.

Voluntarily returning the money might at least reduce their sentences in court.

As for Chen Jing, the unrepentant, monstrous embezzler, it’s unfortunate he didn’t realize that hell only accepts Hell Money. There’s no real use for the fortune he plundered.

Over an hour later, the last person completed the transfer. All the embezzled money was now returned.

Of course, some amounts held by local agencies hadn’t been recovered, but it didn’t matter. Xu Shaochen had already notified the relevant departments to send them to prison for life.

Xu Shaochen nodded at Long Yi, who then sent out a text message.

    “Bang!”

A minute later, the conference room door was kicked open, and a group of police officers rushed in.

“Freeze! Nobody move! Cooperate with the police!”

    “Get down!”

Once the situation was under control, the police officers began arresting the suspects one by one, all of them pests who had embezzled charity funds.

“Xu Shaochen! You bastard! You went back on your word! You said you’d let us go!”

“That’s right, Xu Shaochen, I curse you to be struck by lightning!”

“You Xu! You’ll die a horrible death!”

Initially stunned, now that they understood what was happening, the captured individuals began cursing Xu Shaochen, their hearts filled with regret.

“Hahaha! A bunch of idiots! So what if I got caught? At least I still have my money!”

Chen Jing, seeing this, calmly let the police handcuff him, laughing maniacally with satisfaction.

“Chairman Xu, give it a few years. Maybe then I’ll start a new company with that money and compete with you.”

Chen Jing said in a relaxed tone, humming a tune as the police escorted him out of the office.

Xu Shaochen just shook his head. You’ll just be doing business in hell, Chen Jing.

Unlike the other dejected people, Chen Jing appeared carefree, as if going to prison was a holiday.

Outside the Company, everyone lined up and got into the police cars one after another.

Chen Jing, the last to board, had a grin on his face. With shameless pride, he made a peace sign at the reporters’ cameras.

    “Bang!”

At that moment, a van suddenly sped towards them, sending Chen Jing flying, leaving him in a pool of blood as the smile on his face slowly faded.

Now he finally understood the meaning of Xu Shaochen’s words: “I hope you make it out of prison alive.” Because he never even had a chance to reach prison. This money is not just hot, it’s deadly.
