Chapter Index

    “Ring, ring, ring…”

Xu Shaochen was on his way to Qianyin Entertainment when his phone suddenly rang.

He checked the screen—it was a call from Ye Tao.

    “What’s up?”

“Young Master Xu, people from Myanmar-Vietnam contacted me.”

Xu Shaochen chuckled, “They’re quite efficient. Looks like they have connections even here.”

    “It seems so.”

“Didn’t I say? Just tell them to come directly to me.” Xu Shaochen said casually.

“You did say that, but I thought it would be best to consult you first.”

“All for show. What if I disagree?” Xu Shaochen said, half-jokingly.

“If you disagree, I won’t say anything.” Ye Tao’s tone remained calm as ever.

Xu Shaochen paused, then smiled, “Since you’re saying it like that, how could I let you die? Alright, put him on the phone.”

    “Hello.”

After a moment, a deep voice came through the phone. Ye Tao had handed the phone to the person from Vietnam.

“That thing is with me. You can go back now. You won’t be taking it away. If you’re not satisfied and want to try, come find me in Jiangzhou.”

As soon as Xu Shaochen finished speaking, he hung up and then dialed Linda’s number.

“Baby, are any of our Xu International Security Company security guards free? Help me out with a mission. I’ll pay market price.”

Even though they were Xu Family people, they belonged to a different department, so Xu Shaochen couldn’t just use them as free muscle. After all, they made money by risking their lives.

He couldn’t, in good conscience, ask them to take on a mission without paying.

    “Hold on, I’ll check.”

A few minutes later, Linda’s voice came through the phone again: “We have three teams on vacation. They can be deployed at any time.”

“Tell them to be on standby. The target is Li Taijin, a private armed leader on the Myanmar-Vietnam border.”

As soon as he finished speaking, Xu Shaochen hung up and casually tossed his phone aside, then closed his eyes for a quick nap.

A bunch of underlings. Xu Shaochen didn’t take them seriously.

Here in the country, they’re too scared to use heavy weapons. Causing large-scale conflict here is a dead-end road.

But abroad, rocket launchers are practically fireworks. How could someone like Li Taijin, a dirt-poor private military leader, stop them?

    ………

    Songshan.

    “Who is he?”

The young man in the front passenger seat looked at Ye Tao and asked.

He was beginning to realize that things were more complicated than he thought. The item wasn’t in Ye Tao’s hands, and the person they just spoke to didn’t seem to take them seriously at all.

“Someone you can’t afford to mess with.” Ye Tao smiled faintly.

“Hmph! You, come with us to Jiangzhou.”

The young man snorted coldly, looking at Ye Tao.

Ye Tao shrugged nonchalantly. “Lucky me, I was planning to visit Jiangzhou anyway. By the way, I’m not paying for your plane tickets.”

    “Bang!”

Another gun barrel smacked against his forehead. The freshly scabbed wound started bleeding again.

Ye Yang’s lips twitched. He felt like Ye Tao was dancing dangerously close to death, performing the Phoenix Dance of the Sky—a signature dance of the ‘Die Like a Dog’ gang.

    ………

    Jiangzhou.

    Qianyin Entertainment Headquarters.

“Mr. Xu, hello. The chairman is in the office.”

Seeing Xu Shaochen walk in, the receptionist smiled warmly.

Most people here had come from Songshan, so they all knew Shaochen and his relationship with their boss.

    “Hmm.”

Xu Shaochen nodded and headed straight to Mei Liangying’s office.

“Miss Mei, don’t be stubborn. I know you’re new to Jiangzhou and have no foundation here. If you anger me, even the King of Heaven can’t save you.”

Just as he reached the door, Xu Shaochen heard an arrogant voice coming from inside the office.

“Oh really? I’d like to see if the King of Heaven can save you today.”

Xu Shaochen pushed open the door and walked into the office, speaking calmly.

Seeing Xu Shaochen, the fury on Mei Liangying’s face softened. She walked over to him: “Why are you here?”

“If I didn’t come, who knows how much more you’d be bullied.” Xu Shaochen gently touched her delicate face and then looked at the two young men sitting on the sofa opposite.

One of the young men, dressed in a white tracksuit, had already turned pale. He opened his mouth to speak but couldn’t make a sound.

“Dammit! Who the hell do you think you are? This woman is mine! Stay away from her in the future!”

The other young man in a black shirt jumped up, pointed at Xu Shaochen, and cursed him out.

“Interesting. Truly interesting. I never thought someone in Jiangzhou would dare talk to me like that.”

Xu Shaochen looked at the young man in the black shirt like he was an idiot, then turned to the trembling young man in the tracksuit: “It seems like you know who I am?”

    “Thud!”

The young man in the tracksuit dropped to his knees, slapping himself as tears streamed down his face.

“Mr. Xu, I… I didn’t know Miss Mei was your woman. I truly didn’t know! It’s not my fault. I was just accompanying him.”

“And who is he? Crawled out from between whose legs?” Xu Shaochen pointed at the young man in the black shirt.

The young man in the tracksuit gulped. “Mr. Xu… he’s my older cousin. He studied abroad and just came back for summer vacation. He didn’t recognize you. Please… don’t hold it against him.”

“What are you doing? Get up! What’s there to be afraid of? What, are you scared he’ll kill us?”

The young man in the black shirt was starting to panic as well, but he still stubbornly clung to his pride, thinking he couldn’t afford to lose face.

“Brother, please say less. Just apologize to Mr. Xu!” The young man in the tracksuit tugged at his cousin’s shirt, nearly gritting his teeth.

Damn it, how could your taste be so good that you end up setting your sights on the same woman as Xu Shaochen? You’ve practically killed me.

The young man in the black shirt swatted his hand away and said, “I didn’t know she had a boyfriend, but I’m not going to give up. I’m going to compete with you fairly.”

“Is he mentally ill?” Xu Shaochen asked the young man in the tracksuit.

The young man in the tracksuit felt like crying. My god, can you please stop adding fuel to the fire?

“What did you say? You’re the one with a problem!” The young man in the black shirt flew into a rage. Back when he was studying abroad, he had a reputation for using his family’s wealth to scare off anyone who confronted him.

If he fancied a woman, he’d either shower her with money or intimidate her boyfriend into giving up voluntarily. In his mind, he was being exceedingly generous by even offering to compete fairly with Xu Shaochen.

    “Smack!”

Xu Shaochen stepped forward and slapped him across the face. Then he looked at the kneeling young man in the tracksuit and said calmly, “Let his father talk to me. That way, no one can say I’m bullying kids.”
