“Has the company gotten on track?”

Xu Shaochen sat on the sofa, holding Mei Liangying’s fragrant, soft body. The feeling was so good that it made him reluctant to let go.

“Yes, almost. Just consider it an expansion. We’re launching new business here in Jiangzhou.”

Mei Liangying nodded, smiling sweetly at Xu Shaochen. She playfully tugged on his ear.

So, there’s no such thing as an unattainable goddess. If she seems cold and distant, it’s probably because she’s not into you.

“If there’s anything you need help with, just tell me. Why didn’t you inform me about this earlier?”

Xu Shaochen spoke with slight reproach. After all, his woman could only be bullied by him, and he wouldn’t tolerate even the slightest offense from anyone else.

Mei Liangying sighed, “I thought he’d give up on his own after two days of no progress. Who knew he’d get so angry and start threatening me?”

As soon as she finished speaking she changed the subject, “How about we go see a movie tonight?”

“Depends on whether I have time.” Xu Shaochen didn’t agree rashly. With so many women around, who knows what might come up?

“Ding ding ding…”

Suddenly, Xu Shaochen’s phone rang. He took it out and saw it was a call from Zhang Mingrong.

“Chairman Xu, how about having dinner together tonight…?”

“Not interested.”

With that, Xu Shaochen ended the call immediately.

This woman really had patience. After getting her face slapped last time, she’s already back to flirting in no time.

With her coy voice, Xu Shaochen had no doubt she might be trying to seduce him.

“What happened?” Mei Liangying asked.

Xu Shaochen shook his head, “Nothing, just an overconfident woman.”

“Ding~”

Suddenly, his phone buzzed.

It was a text from Lin Kai, asking to meet up.

“I have something to do, so I’m leaving now. If I have time tonight, I’ll call you. Bye.”

Xu Shaochen said as he began to get up from the sofa.

“Let me see you off.”

Mei Liangying escorted Xu Shaochen all the way out of the office.

After leaving Qianyin Entertainment, Xu Shaochen arrived at the café where Lin Kai had arranged to meet.

“So, did it work out?”

Xu Shaochen sat down across from Lin Kai and waved a waiter over, “A cup of Blue Mountain.”

“You guessed right. They really told me the plan. They advised me not to retaliate against you, just to watch you die.” Lin Kai sneered, mocking Zhou Yun’s foolishness.

Xu Shaochen chuckled coldly inside. How dare you laugh? Others know you’re not the sharpest tool in the shed. They told you the plan because they’re afraid you’d mess it up by accident.

But Zhou Yun probably never even considered that Lin Kai would join forces with Xu Shaochen.

Though he despised Lin Kai’s intelligence, Xu Shaochen kept a calm façade. “Tell me. I’m curious to know what their plan is.”

“The key to their plan is that ungrateful woman Zhang Mingrong.” Lin Kai said through gritted teeth.

Xu Shaochen remained silent, waiting for Lin Kai to continue.

“The plan is actually simple. They’re just exploiting your weakness for women to set a trap.”

“First, Zhang Mingrong would poach people from your company, creating a hostile relationship between you two. Then, she would gradually ease the tension, making you reassess her. It’s like taking a swing before lifting you up.”

“Once you start falling for her, she’ll pretend to trust you, telling you about Yunbei Industries’ ‘background.’ Then she’ll mention that Yunbei Industries faces a sudden financial crisis and offer you the chance to invest at an extremely favorable, near-giveaway price.”

“At that point, you’d likely want to help the beauty and make a profit in the process, so of course, you wouldn’t refuse. But if you really invested and became the boss of Yunbei Industries, you’d be walking right into their trap. Yunbei Industries’ funds are anything but clean, but my ‘good brother-in-law’ covered it up. Yunbei Industries has been laundering money for foreign entities, and if that gets exposed, you’d be caught up in a scandal and accused of financial crimes.”

“Then she’d turn herself in to the Jingcheng Police, making your murder charge undeniable. At the same time, the truth about Yunbei Industries’ money laundering would break, and every media outlet would report it. With you implicated in both scandals, you wouldn’t even have a chance to fight back.”

After finishing, Lin Kai looked at Xu Shaochen with a gleeful expression, convinced that without him, Xu Shaochen would be a goner.

Xu Shaochen frowned after hearing the plan. “In that case, Zhang Mingrong would be going down with me. Why would she do that?”

“Going down with you? No, no, no. You’d be the main culprit, and she’d just be an accomplice. Plus, she’s turning herself in, which means a more lenient sentence.”

“Moreover, all the media attention would focus on you as the main criminal. She, being just an accomplice, would be overlooked. My good brother-in-law would use his connections, and at most, she’d get a suspended sentence and be free after a few years.”

At this point, Lin Kai paused, looking at Xu Shaochen with a smirk. “Also, do you know who Zhang Mingrong really is?”

“Who?” Xu Shaochen asked.

“You’re familiar with Zhang Qingsong, right? Zhang Mingrong is his half-sister.” Lin Kai revealed.

“Damn it!”

Xu Shaochen cursed out loud. No wonder Zhang Mingrong was willing to do this. She’s avenging her brother.

Xu Shaochen felt a little frustrated. Zhang Qingsong was the one who tried to kill him, and he had spared him multiple times before finally taking him out recently.

Even though his actions were pure self-defense, why did he now feel like the villain? The plan may be full of holes, but it definitely plays on his weaknesses.

If he had really developed feelings for Zhang Mingrong, he would’ve fallen right into their trap. He could never stand by and let his woman be in danger.

But they seemed to have overestimated Zhang Mingrong’s looks and charm. Since the moment he began to suspect her, he’d lost all interest.

Lin Kai took a sip of coffee and then looked at Xu Shaochen. “So, what’s the plan now?”

“You’re going back to Hong Kong. You need to establish the company there. Our plan must be executed in Hong Kong first. The first step is to change Zhou Yun’s and your family’s perception of you…”

Xu Shaochen began guiding Lin Kai on what to do next.

He was taking it one step at a time, not revealing the entire plan to Lin Kai. After all, this guy wasn’t the brightest, and there was always the risk he’d slip up.
