Chapter Index

    “Ring ring ring…”

Xu Shaochen received a phone call.

It was an unknown number. He frowned slightly before answering.

    “Hello.”

“Mr. Xu, we sincerely apologize. Some of our platform’s streamers lack professionalism, causing you trouble. We’ve already banned that streamer immediately.”

A voice filled with apology came through the phone.

Xu Shaochen suddenly realized that it was someone from Shark Streaming Platform. People don’t seek favors for nothing—either they’re up to no good, or they need something.

Shark Streaming Platform is a giant in the streaming industry in the country. If they’re going out of their way to curry favor, there must be something they want from him.

“Is there anything else? If not, I’ll hang up.”

“Mr. Xu, can you spare some time for a meal? I would like to discuss some collaboration opportunities with you.”

Upon hearing that Xu Shaochen was about to hang up, the person on the other side of the phone became anxious and quickly blurted out his intention.

“Come see me tomorrow. I’ll be available around noon. If you’re late, don’t bother.”

With that, Xu Shaochen hung up the phone.

The other party wasn’t trying to collaborate with him as the Chairman of Chen Yu, but rather as the Young Master of Xu Corporation.

Because under Xu Corporation, there’s a major entertainment company—Shengdian Entertainment.

Streaming has been really hot these past few years, but it hasn’t quite been accepted by the entertainment industry. In fact, many in the entertainment circles look down on streaming.

The barrier to entry in streaming is too low, leading to a wide range of streamer qualities.

As a result, the Shark Platform has been eager for change, wanting to create genuine stars to elevate its brand.

But in an environment where the entire streaming industry is shunned by the entertainment industry, how easy could that be? So they’ve been stuck in a lukewarm situation.

Otherwise, the Shark Platform CEO wouldn’t have to unceremoniously call Xu Shaochen to curry favor.

To be honest, what he’s doing isn’t exactly noble.

It’s one thing that they couldn’t protect their top streamers, but to ban them just to appease Xu Shaochen? How low is that? But as for why Xu Shaochen agreed to the dinner?

It’s because he’s interested in streaming platforms.

With the development of the internet, streaming is becoming more accessible and is even reaching a point of universal participation.

Xu Corporation, or even Chen Yu, could take over the Shark Platform and expand it into something even bigger and stronger—a platform that can control public opinion and spread influence.

So while the Shark Platform CEO is thinking about collaborating with Xu Shaochen…

Xu Shaochen is thinking about directly swallowing it whole.

Lost in thought, Xu Shaochen already spotted the three people from the late-night snack bar.

Long Yi and the others sat in the car outside, waiting. Xu Shaochen walked in alone.

“Why are you so late?” Zhang Wei shifted over, making room for Xu Shaochen.

    “Ran into something.”

Xu Shaochen didn’t elaborate further and instead turned to Zhang Wei, “Have you ever thought of starting your own law firm?”

Zhang Wei is highly capable and particularly skilled at exploiting legal loopholes—Liu Rushuang told him this.

Xu Corporation’s growth inevitably involves legal matters, and Zhang Wei always handled the opposition flawlessly.

One reason Xu Shaochen hasn’t put much focus on this area is that Zhang Wei typically resolves things before they escalate.

A person like this is wasted as just a head of the legal department in Chen Yu.

So Xu Shaochen wants to invest in Zhang Wei, have him start a law firm, and build a strong team under him. He can take care of the company’s cases from now on.

A top-tier legal team is crucial.

For example, if someone faces the death penalty for murder, they might be able to find a loophole to reduce the sentence to life in prison—that’s criminal law.

In commercial litigation, a team is even more essential because a single lawyer wouldn’t be enough to handle it.

    “Sure.”

Zhang Wei nodded in agreement. Recently, Zhao Qing’s demolition company has been on the rise, and Mei Liangxin now has Mei Corporation.

If he stays as just a legal department head, the gap between the three of them will only widen, and his value to Xu Shaochen will continue to diminish.

“Make sure to find your replacement.”

    Xu Shaochen patted his shoulder.

“Alright, can you two stop talking about such irrelevant stuff? How about we discuss some serious matters?”

Mei Liangxin interrupted, rubbing his hands as he looked at Xu Shaochen, “Bro, did you think about what I mentioned last time? Can you get me a couple of long guns to play with?”

“Get lost. If you want to go to jail, just say so. Do you even know how to use a gun?” Xu Shaochen glared at him.

“Of course I know how to use one!” Mei Liangxin responded sternly, “You may not believe me, but I started playing with guns when I was fifteen. I practiced nearly every day.”

“No wonder you’re so skinny. Medically speaking, people who play with guns before sixteen tend to have stunted growth.”

Zhao Qing sized up Mei Liangxin and then nodded in sudden realization.

Xu Shaochen and Zhang Wei exchanged a knowing look as they also eyed Mei Liangxin.

“Shut up! I’m talking about CrossFire and CS! Can you guys get your minds out of the gutter? I’m perfectly fine—I’m healthy and can handle ten women at night!”

Mei Liangxin didn’t realize what they were implying at first, but when it clicked, he was instantly riled up. He almost stripped down to prove his point.

“Tsk tsk tsk, see that? Everyone remember his reaction—this is what it looks like when someone gets embarrassed. We hit a nerve.”

Xu Shaochen grabbed Mei Liangxin’s chin with one hand and took a picture of him with his phone.

“No wonder he’s always visiting those places. I heard that men who have issues in certain areas like to do that to prove themselves.”

“Right. He probably just chats with them each time to hide the fact that he can’t perform.”

Zhang Wei and Zhao Qing chimed in, as if they had already uncovered the truth.

    Mei Liangxin: “……”

“Alright, that’s enough. We’re all brothers—do you really have to mock him like this?”

Xu Shaochen looked at Zhang Wei and Zhao Qing, scolding them lightly.

Mei Liangxin was moved to the point of tears, looking at Xu Shaochen with a face full of gratitude. This is what brotherhood is all about.

“Alright, Shaochen, you don’t have to say more.” Mei Liangxin said, looking at Xu Shaochen.

Xu Shaochen pushed his hand away, “Don’t stop me. I have to say it. So what if Mei Liangxin has stunted growth? So what if his kidneys aren’t functioning well? It’s got nothing to do with us anyway!”

The smile on Mei Liangxin’s face froze instantly. A thousand curses ran through his mind as he stared at Xu Shaochen, wanting to strangle him.

Don’t try to say I’ve got stunted growth. And what do you mean by bad kidneys?

They were just suspicious, but you went ahead and slapped that label on me, didn’t you?

And you said it with such a straight face, pretending to defend me. I’m so moved for nothing—the world is going downhill, and people’s hearts are rotten!
