Chapter Index

Xu Shaochen didn’t return home tonight.

Liu Rushuang went out of town, leaving Liu Ruxu alone at home. Xu Shaochen felt a bit uneasy since she’s his sister-in-law.

So, he decided to stay at her place tonight to ensure her safety. A woman being alone at night is just too risky.

What if she encounters a pervert?

Xu Shaochen is just this considerate.

Xu Shaochen had the keys to Liu Rushuang’s house, so he opened the door directly.

After entering, he found that the living room was empty, and the sound of running water came from the bathroom. She must be taking a shower.

Xu Shaochen quietly opened the bathroom door and immediately saw Liu Ruxu’s familiar body.

    “Ah! What are you doing?”

Liu Ruxu suddenly noticed Xu Shaochen and was startled. She angrily questioned him.

Having been caught, Xu Shaochen boldly walked in and said with a smile, “I just wanted to check if anyone was spying on you while you shower.”

“Someone is—you!” Liu Ruxu replied annoyed.

Xu Shaochen righteously said, “I’m looking openly, how can you call that spying?”

“Pfft, why are you here?” Liu Ruxu, being more fierce than her sister, ignored Xu Shaochen and continued showering.

“I came because I felt like it. Not welcome?”

“Why would you not be? I welcome you, Your Majesty, anytime you choose to visit. It’s an honor; I can’t be grateful enough.”

Liu Ruxu was being sarcastic, mocking him for coming as infrequently as an emperor choosing his consort.

“So full of resentment, such a sour smell. What are you jealous about this time? Not welcoming me? I’ll leave then.”

As Xu Shaochen spoke, he pretended to turn around and leave.

“Hey, are you even a man? Seeing me like this, you’re just going to leave?”

Liu Ruxu angrily shouted, feeling that her charm had been completely ignored.

Xu Shaochen asked, “Then what should I do?”

“You should do it, of course!”

    Liu Ruxu was that fierce.

An hour later, the room returned to silence.

    “Have you had dinner?”

Liu Ruxu felt so weak that she didn’t even want to move a finger. With her eyes closed, she asked feebly.

“No, I wasn’t hungry before, but now I am,” Xu Shaochen replied.

“I haven’t eaten either. I was already hungry, and now I’m even hungrier.”

“Let’s take a shower and then go get something to eat.”

    Xu Shaochen suggested.

    “Okay.”

Liu Ruxu opened her arms, looking at Xu Shaochen for a hug.

“Get lost. You’re heavy; I’m too lazy to carry you.”

Xu Shaochen bluntly said. Women, when you have too many of them, this is how they get.

“Bastard, you don’t acknowledge people once you buckle your pants!”

Liu Ruxu angrily threw a pillow at him.

Half an hour later, the two left the house.

After going out, they didn’t take the car. They walked in the night breeze, not worried about tomorrow’s work or having no money to spend. This was the ideal life.

Long Yi and the others followed behind them in a car at a steady pace.

Sigh, the life of the wealthy, so free and magnanimous.

“That girl seems pretty pitiful. How much money do you have on you? Give her some.”

Suddenly, Liu Ruxu pointed to a young woman kneeling on the roadside holding a sign.

Xu Shaochen walked forward with Liu Ruxu and looked at the words on the sign.

“I am a university student. I came here for a vacation during summer break. My wallet and ID were stolen. I beg you, kind-hearted people, please give me two yuan to buy a bowl of noodles.”

“Why are you standing there? Give her money,” Liu Ruxu said, looking at Xu Shaochen.

Xu Shaochen sighed helplessly; women are just emotional beings.

Look at Liu Ruxu, someone who is usually so shrewd at work, yet even such a small scam could trigger her compassion.

Fully capable in all four limbs, she could easily find temporary work at a restaurant or night market that would offer food, accommodation, and pay; there’s no need for her to kneel here and beg. Xu Shaochen pulled out four yuan and handed it to the woman, saying, “Here, I’ll give you four yuan. I’ve never had a two-yuan bowl of noodles. Just buy me a bowl while you’re at it.”

“Are you crazy? You poor bastard.”

The kneeling woman rolled her eyes at Xu Shaochen and snapped back. She didn’t expect to meet such a pessimist.

Liu Ruxu was dumbfounded; she didn’t expect this woman to be a scammer, manipulating her sympathy.

    “Poor bastard?”

Xu Shaochen couldn’t stand hearing that. You can insult me in any way you want because I’ll get back at you eventually. But you can’t call me a poor bastard.

If I’m a poor bastard, then are there any rich people left in the world?

Xu Shaochen raised his wrist with his Rolex on it. He wasn’t checking the time; he just wanted the woman to realize how rich he was.

Unfortunately, he was destined to be disappointed because a low-level scammer like her wouldn’t recognize a Rolex.

    “Alright, let’s go.”

    Liu Ruxu urged Xu Shaochen.

    ………

    Rongyang City.

    “Miss Liu, hello.”

Liu Rushuang was stopped by someone while returning to the hotel. The person who stopped her was Meng Yuan.

    “Is there something you need?”

Looking at Meng Yuan before her, Liu Rushuang frowned. She remembered encountering him in the Shark Live company’s elevator.

“Miss Liu, let me introduce myself. Meng Chuan is my father.”

Meng Yuan expressed his identity, then continued, “I’d like to apologize for my father’s attitude today. I was hoping to have the honor of treating you to dinner tonight to express my apologies.”

“Sorry, you don’t have that honor.”

Liu Rushuang could see his intentions clearly, so she didn’t leave him any hope. Coldly leaving a remark, she walked toward the elevator.

    “Miss Liu…”

Meng Yuan wanted to follow but was stopped by two bodyguards.

“Damn it, get out of my way.”

Facing the two bodyguards, Meng Yuan wasn’t as polite. After all, in his eyes, they were only workers.

He quickly paid the price for his attitude.

“Ah! You dare hit me? Damn it. Stop! You’re all dead! Ah, my leg! Ah!”

Meng Yuan was repeatedly screaming in pain on the ground, drawing a crowd. People watched him as if he were a monkey.

“Enough, stop hitting him. If you continue, it’ll cause trouble.”

Liu Rushuang hadn’t expected the two bodyguards to get physical with Meng Yuan, so she hurriedly spoke out to stop them.

“Miss Liu, before we came, the boss instructed us that any man who tries to make a move on you should be dealt with by our methods to keep them away from you.”

One of the bodyguards explained to Liu Rushuang, his tone firm. The other bodyguard dragged Meng Yuan and tossed him out of the hotel.

Hearing this, Liu Rushuang couldn’t help but feel exasperated. With Xu Shaochen’s intense sense of security, what could she say?

Outside the hotel, Meng Yuan gritted his teeth and struggled to get up from the ground, angrily cursing at the hotel.

“Damn it, this group of ungrateful bastards.”

Don’t ask why he spoke with a strange accent. His face was so swollen from the beating that even his own mother wouldn’t recognize him. Did you really expect him to speak clearly?
