Chapter Index

    Night.

Sun Hai brought his daughter Sun Yuan to visit Xu Shaochen.

    Or rather, to apologize.

“Mr. Xu, I must apologize for that night.”

Sun Hai looked at Xu Shaochen with a sense of embarrassment as he spoke, feeling utterly humiliated by the situation.

His daughter’s fiancé dared to take advantage of Xu Shaochen’s woman during a toast, and in front of everyone no less, he had two fingers cut off.

The Sun Family had become a complete laughingstock.

Sun Yuan was somewhat afraid of Xu Shaochen because that night was her first time meeting him, and he hadn’t acted kindly at all.

So, as she spoke, her voice trembled slightly.

“Xu… Big Brother Xu, I’m sorry. I was blind to fall for that beast, and I embarrassed the entire family.”

As she spoke, she couldn’t hold back her tears. She had believed she found true love and insisted on marrying him despite her family’s objections, even pushing for an early engagement.

But now, things had turned out this way. The past few days at the Sun Family had been tormenting, and she had endured enough of her relatives’ scornful looks and harsh comments.

Xu Shaochen shook his head and said to Sun Hai, “Chairman Sun, why are you doing this? What’s done is done. This matter wasn’t entirely your fault; you were victims too. If anything, it was me ruining your happy occasion…”

“Mr. Xu, please don’t say that. What happy occasion? We have you to thank for this. Who knows what would have happened to my Sun Family otherwise.”

Hearing Xu Shaochen’s words, Sun Hai hurriedly interrupted him, looking both relieved and exhausted.

After exchanging a few more words, Sun Hai and Sun Yuan took their leave.

After all, they had only come to express their stance.

    Meanwhile, in Yijing.

    The Lan Family.

The Lan Family was one of the top families in Yijing, even more prestigious than Yunyang Group.

The Lan Family had been rooted in Yijing for nearly two centuries.

Through ups and downs over these two hundred years, they had both declined and risen again.

While they might not be the wealthiest or most powerful in Yijing today,

The Lan Family’s status in Yijing was indisputable. In fact, 80% of Yijing’s youth and elderly had grown up hearing about the Lan Family.

The Lan Family had become a symbol of Yijing.

    “Bang!”

In the Lan Family’s living room, Lan Guangming kicked over a chair and glared at Cao Xiong, gritting his teeth, “What did you just say?”

“Uncle Lan… Young Master Lan… he might be in danger.”

Facing Lan Guangming’s fury, Cao Xiong turned pale and trembled as he recounted everything that happened in Jiangzhou.

He didn’t even dare to lie; he confessed to taking advantage of Mei Liangying as well.

    “My Yang’er!”

After hearing it all, Lan Yang’s mother felt the world go dark, collapsing onto the sofa with eyes full of venom. She spat at Cao Xiong through gritted teeth:

“My Yang’er is dead, so why are you still alive?”

To her, the man who killed her son, Xu Shaochen, deserved to die.

“But as the cause of it all, Cao Xiong was even more deserving of death. He should join her son in the afterlife.

Of course, she didn’t know about the conflict at the Antique Market, which was the real cause of Xu Shaochen’s and Lan Yang’s enmity.

Cao Xiong didn’t know this either, so he thought it was all his fault and trembled in fear.

    “Slap!”

    “Slap!”

    “Slap!”

Lan Guangming repeatedly slapped Cao Xiong across the face.

Not far away, Cao Xiong’s parents didn’t dare to say a word. They just watched anxiously, full of worry.

    “Get out!”

After the twenty-first slap, Lan Guangming yelled at Cao Xiong in anger.

He wasn’t really going to have Cao Xiong killed. After all, it was Xu Shaochen who deserved to die.

He slapped Cao Xiong twenty-one times because his son was twenty-one years old.

“Lan Guangming, I’m telling you, you must avenge our son. If you don’t, I’ll die right here!”

After Cao Xiong left, Lan Yang’s mother screamed at Lan Guangming.

    “This requires careful planning.”

Lan Guangming rubbed his brow, feeling exhausted. He’d heard of Xu Shaochen, knew exactly who he was dealing with.

He had heard about him from the Chairman of Yunyang Group. A rash action wouldn’t work.

“Careful planning? You’re always about careful planning! He wasn’t just my son. He was your son too! If you won’t take action, then I will! I’ll avenge him myself!”

Lan Yang’s mother exploded with rage upon hearing this.

    “Slap!”

Lan Guangming backhanded her onto the sofa and gritted his teeth, “Do you want to complicate things even more? Do you want to lose another son?”

Lan Yang’s mother covered her face, looking at Lan Guangming in disbelief. As if she never expected him to strike her.

    “I’m sorry.”

After a long pause, Lan Guangming apologized and then softened his tone, “Don’t tell Cheng’er for now. Let him focus on preparing the company’s IPO in Mg Country.”

“Don’t worry. I will definitely avenge our son, but not now. I don’t want to wait, but I have to.”

“If you don’t know who he is, go do your research.”

Lan Guangming was determined not to inform their eldest son, who was in Mg Country prepping for the company’s IPO.

However, what he didn’t anticipate was that as soon as Cao Xiong left the Lan Family, he called Lan Cheng in Mg Country.

And so, many things often happen unexpectedly.

    Rongyang City.

    The Meng Family.

Meng Chuan and his son were having dinner.

The Meng Family consisted only of the father and son, as Meng Yuan’s mother had died in childbirth.

Though Meng Chuan had women outside, he never brought them home.

“Dad, it’s a pity that those two scumbags didn’t go straight to hell.”

Meng Yuan held his bowl and chopsticks and said with a violent glint in his eyes as he looked at his father across from him.

Meng Chuan shot him a look, “That’s enough. If they actually died, Xu Shaochen would come after us like a mad dog.”

Too bad, he didn’t know that Xu Shaochen was already mad with anger.

The father and son, engrossed in their dinner, were entirely unaware that danger was closing in on them.

    Outside the Meng Family’s villa.

Their villa was in the best area in the entire city, with 80% green coverage and each villa spaced far apart to accommodate more green features.

The Meng Family’s villa was at the farthest end of the area and was the largest one, usually guarded by ten bodyguards.

Two of them stood at the main entrance, and the rest patrolled around. After all, rich people tend to value their lives.

At this moment, the lush vegetation, which normally added to the beauty, served as the perfect cover for those hiding in the dark.

Long Er led a team of men lurking in the darkness, each holding a silenced handgun.

Tonight would be a massacre. After all, Xu Shaochen had only one request: to bring Meng Chuan and Meng Yuan to Jiangzhou.
