Chapter Index

    “Boom~ Boom~”

The sound of the mixer working made Zhao Qingfeng’s scalp tingle.

Thinking about being thrown into it and ground to death almost made him wet his pants. It was just terrifying.

Before today, he had never imagined that such lawless people existed in the world.

Even when he came here yesterday, he didn’t think anything would be dangerous, let alone that he might lose his life.

“Kid, remember to be more aware in the future. Don’t carelessly lose your life again.”

The construction site supervisor looked at Zhao Qingfeng coldly, then waved his hand, signaling them to proceed.

His name was Liu Xiong, known as Big Xiong by outsiders. He had been in this business for thirty years. Killing a man meant nothing to him.

    “Vroom vroom vroom…”

At this moment, several cars roared in, accompanied by the sound of engines.

Before anyone could react, the cars had stopped, and a group of burly men in suits rushed out, surrounding them completely.

    “Boss…”

One of the underlings nervously looked at Liu Xiong.

The others exchanged confused glances, unsure of what was happening, but they knew that killing someone now was out of the question.

After all, this was happening under everyone’s watch.

Liu Xiong’s expression darkened. He didn’t know who they were or why they had come.

Then, the Rolls-Royce door opened, and Xu Shaochen walked out, expressionless.

    “Brother-in-law! Save me, Brother-in-law!”

The moment Zhao Qingfeng saw Xu Shaochen, he burst into tears of joy, feeling the thrill of surviving a disaster.

Hearing how he addressed him, the faces of the people at the construction site changed instantly.

“Do you have a death wish?”

Xu Shaochen walked up to Liu Xiong, looking at him calmly.

“Who are you?” Liu Xiong asked.

    “Slap!”

Before he could finish speaking, Xu Shaochen slapped him across the face. “Who do you think you are to ask me who I am? You took my money, colluded with others to harm my interests, and now you dare to ask who I am?”

“Xu… Chairman Xu.” Liu Xiong said with a trembling voice.

    “Bang!”

Xu Shaochen kicked him to the ground. Not one of Liu Xiong’s underlings dared to move.

After all, Long Yi and the others were glaring at them, ready to act. Who would dare to make a move?

As Liu Xiong struggled to get up, Xu Shaochen stepped on his face, forcing him back down. He spoke slowly and deliberately:

    “You need to die. Understand?”

Zhao Qingfeng watched the scene, dumbfounded. He had never seen such a domineering side of Xu Shaochen.

Of course, this was followed by an inexplicable fear, because the Xu Shaochen before him was completely different from the one he usually knew.

Enduring the pain of his face being rubbed against the stones, Liu Xiong looked at Xu Shaochen and said, “Chairman Xu, I’m willing to return everything I took. Just give me a chance to live.”

    “Bang!”

Xu Shaochen exerted more force on the foot pressing against his face. The sharp stones cut into Liu Xiong’s face, and blood dyed the sand and stones red.

“Originally, I was going to handle this legally, send you to prison for a few years, and be done with it. But you actually tried to kill my brother-in-law! If he had died, how would I explain it to my woman, huh?”

Xu Shaochen looked down on Liu Xiong and said calmly, “You’re creating problems for me. You’re making things difficult for me, not allowing me to live comfortably.”

“So, I won’t let you live either.”

With that, Xu Shaochen turned to the two young men holding Zhao Qingfeng: “Let him go.”

The two men exchanged glances, then released Zhao Qingfeng.

    “Brother-in-law.”

Zhao Qingfeng quickly ran to Xu Shaochen.

“Who hit you?” Xu Shaochen asked, looking at him, eyebrows furrowed.

Zhao Qingfeng hesitated, then pointed at the men, “Him, him, and those two.”

Xu Shaochen nodded, then looked around, picking up a piece of rebar from the ground and handing it to him: “Here, take this. Whoever hit you, hit them back with this. If you kill them, I’ll take the blame.”

    “Thud!”

Before Xu Shaochen finished speaking, the four men who had hit Zhao Qingfeng knelt down, begging for mercy.

“Chairman Xu, please have mercy! We didn’t know what we were doing. We beg you, let us go.”

    “Chairman Xu, spare us!”

Zhao Qingfeng looked at them, then at the rebar in his hand. He stood there, unsure of what to do.

“What are you waiting for? Go on.”

Xu Shaochen remained unmoved by their pleas, as if he hadn’t heard them, and pushed Zhao Qingfeng forward.

Zhao Qingfeng gritted his teeth, raised the rebar, and fiercely struck one of the men on the shoulder with his eyes closed.

    “Ah!”

The man screamed and fell to the ground, clutching his shoulder.

The rage within Zhao Qingfeng was unleashed. His eyes turned red as he swung the rebar at the four kneeling men, smashing them haphazardly.

“You son of a bitch! How dare you hit me! I’ll make you pay! Hit me!”

    “Clang!”

Exhausted, Zhao Qingfeng finally threw the rebar to the ground, gasping for breath, his face drenched in sweat.

“I’ll give you a way out. Throw him into the mixer, then turn yourselves in. That way, you won’t have to die.”

Xu Shaochen pointed at Liu Xiong on the ground, then coldly spoke to the underlings.

“No! Please, Chairman Xu, please don’t do this! I don’t want to die! I’ll return all the money, all of it!”

Liu Xiong’s face turned pale as he heard this. He clambered to Xu Shaochen’s feet and clung to his leg.

He knew his men too well. To save their own lives, they would absolutely do this.

“No worries. I don’t need your money. Keep it. You can spend it in the afterlife. If it’s not enough, visit me in a dream, and I’ll burn more for you.”

Xu Shaochen smiled faintly at him and said calmly. Then, he signaled, and two bodyguards dragged Liu Xiong away.

“So, have you made up your minds? I rarely give people chances. I hope you take this one.”

Xu Shaochen looked at the others and said.

Liu Xiong’s underlings exchanged glances, their expressions uncertain. Finally, they all stepped towards Liu Xiong.

They didn’t want to die. Even a life sentence was better than death.

Living was their greatest hope at that moment.

“What are you doing? Liu Erwa! I’m from the same hometown as you! Let go of me! Let go of me!”

Liu Xiong was scared out of his wits. However, all his struggling was in vain. Anger, pleading, despair, all sorts of emotions rushed through him.

“Leave some of the brothers to make sure they turn themselves in.”

Xu Shaochen was a kind-hearted person. He didn’t want to see the bloody scene, so he took Zhao Qingfeng and left.

    “Wait, Brother-in-law.”

Just as they were about to get into the car, Zhao Qingfeng suddenly ran back. He returned a moment later handing Xu Shaochen a recording pen.

    “Well done.”

    Xu Shaochen patted his shoulder.
