Chapter 477: What Can You Offer to Make Amends?

Shark Live Headquarters.
In the conference room, Liu Rushuang had reached an agreement with the remaining shareholders on the acquisition of Shark Live.
After all, since both Meng Chuan and his father were dead, none of them could manage the company on their own.
So the only option was to sell the company, keep a few shares, and relax at home while collecting the dividends.
A few of them wanted to retain their positions, but Liu Rushuang refused them bluntly.
To grow Shark Live, she needed people she could rely on; there was no room for those old-timers who were inconsistent in their work.
“Alright, now that everything is settled, everyone, I wish us all a happy collaboration.”
The contracts were signed on the spot, without giving anyone a chance to back out.
After signing the contracts, she sent Xu Shaochen a message to inform him of the situation and asked him to send someone over as soon as possible.
………
When Xu Shaochen received the message, he was entertaining Ye Tao in his office.
“How does it feel being Chairman for two days?”
Xu Shaochen smiled as he looked at Ye Tao and asked.
Ye Tao forced a bitter smile, shook his head, and said, “Young Master Xu, to be honest, it’s just one word: exhausting.”
“When I worked at my old company, though busy, I was never this tired. Now I realize that managing an entire company is completely different from managing just one department.”
Actually, the main reason he felt so exhausted was because he was constantly engaged in power struggles—promoting, suppressing, and building alliances. How could that not be tiring?
Initially, the company’s old hands didn’t intend to resist his commands. After all, they figured by letting Ye Tao do as he pleased, he would make more mistakes.
As soon as he made enough mistakes, Xu Shaochen would transfer him out.
So, they stopped coming to the office altogether, spending their days playing ball and fishing, just waiting for Ye Tao to screw up.
But soon they realized something was wrong.
They were getting more and more complaints—some staff were being demoted or removed from key positions over minor issues, or even outright fired.
Only then did they realize during the time they were slacking off, Ye Tao wasn’t dealing with external affairs; he was handling internal issues.
By the time they returned to the company, Ye Tao had already gathered some allies. Though his influence was still weak, he had secured a foothold thanks to his title as Chairman.
What followed was a series of power struggles and competition. There is nothing in this world more mentally draining than that.
“I’ve heard about the issues with Tianfeng Group. Don’t get so caught up in power struggles that you forget to advance the group; I expect to see some progress soon.”
Xu Shaochen added another challenge for Ye Tao—he needed to not only win power but also drive the company’s growth at the same time.
“Yes, Young Master Xu. Rest assured, I won’t disappoint you.”
Though Ye Tao felt uncertain, he didn’t show it and instead appeared confident.
After all, how can you know if you will fail if you don’t even try?
“Chairman, Manager Chen from Dajiang Cement Factory and Manager Zhang from Yunzhong Steel Factory are here. They said they wish to see you.”
The secretary knocked and walked into the office, addressing Xu Shaochen.
“They arrived pretty quickly.”
Xu Shaochen chuckled.
Seeing this, Ye Tao tactfully said, “Young Master Xu, I won’t disturb you any further. I’ll take my leave now.”
“Go ahead. Show me results soon. There’s more I need you to handle.”
Xu Shaochen waved him away and then looked at the secretary and said, “Let them in.”
“Yes, Chairman.”
The secretary nodded and sashayed out of the office.
A few minutes later, Chen Kaihe and Zhang Zhongliang were led into Xu Shaochen’s office by the secretary.
“Hello, Chairman Xu.”
The two of them, upon seeing Xu Shaochen, felt their hearts leap into their throats. They were filled with anxiety.
“You may leave.”
Xu Shaochen dismissed the secretary before turning his attention to the two men.
“Is making money from Chen Yu this easy?”
Zhang Zhongliang was timid by nature. Had it not been for Chen Kaihe’s urging back then, he wouldn’t have dared do this in the first place. Now, he was too scared to even speak.
Chen Kaihe struggled to steady his nerves and said, “Chairman Xu, I know we made a mistake, but we’re willing to make amends…”
“Bang!”
“Ah!”
Before he could finish his sentence, an ashtray flew directly into his face, breaking his nose.
Chen Kaihe screamed in pain, clutching his nose and squatting down as blood streamed from it.
Zhang Zhongliang, on the side, was shocked. Cold sweat as large as beans kept dripping down his forehead, and his legs trembled uncontrollably.
“Make amends? How? Are you going to tear down and rebuild all the structures that are already completed?”
Xu Shaochen looked at Chen Kaihe and asked coldly.
“Ch-Chairman Xu, we’ll return double the money we took. We beg you, please be lenient and give us another chance.”
Chen Kaihe, covering his nose, looked at Xu Shaochen and pleaded.
“Yes, Chairman Xu, double… we’re willing to return double.”
Zhang Zhongliang stammered, echoing Chen Kaihe.
“I don’t want the money.”
Xu Shaochen replied.
The two were first stunned, but then they instantly felt as if their souls had left their bodies. If Xu Shaochen didn’t want the money, then he must want their lives.
“Ch-Chairman Xu…”
“Let me finish.”
Xu Shaochen raised his hand, stopping their words, and said calmly, “I won’t take any of the money. Let’s just consider it as payment for the remaining cement and rebar. How about that?”
Chen Kaihe and Zhang Zhongliang’s expressions changed. They hadn’t expected Xu Shaochen to ask for so much.
Construction Site #1 was still far from completion, and there was plenty of rebar and cement needed.
Even doubling their previous earnings wouldn’t be enough to cover the rest of the rebar and cement costs.
It was evident that Xu Shaochen intended to walk away with all the goods without paying a cent.
Moreover, they dared not offer subpar materials this time, so they were sure to suffer a significant loss. For businessmen, it was like cutting into their own flesh.
“One needs to be alive to spend money. If you die with money leftover, that’s the saddest thing in the world.”
Seeing their silence, Xu Shaochen pushed them a little further.
“I agree.”
Zhang Zhongliang spoke up first. Being a coward, he feared he wouldn’t walk out of the office alive if he didn’t.
“I agree too.”
Seeing Zhang Zhongliang agree, Chen Kaihe also had no choice but to follow suit.
“I’m glad we could reach an agreement. But let’s not have a next time.”
Xu Shaochen smiled at them. He had just saved a bulk of the material costs.
“Rest assured, Chairman Xu. There won’t be a next time.”
The two men repeatedly assured him.
