Chapter Index

    “Are you stupid?”

Xu Shaochen looked at Mei Liangxin with a disdainful gaze.

When a group of businessmen gather together, of course, they’re going to talk about stocks and business.

You’re not a businessman, and they aren’t foolish. They wouldn’t chat with you about that. Otherwise, they would lose face.

This is the principle of speaking to people in the way they understand, discussing what suits them best, making conversations comfortable.

    “He’s always been dumb.”

Zhang Wei and Zhao Qing said in unison.

“You’re not much better,” Xu Shaochen glared at Zhao Qing.

    Zhang Wei snickered.

Xu Shaochen said bluntly, “And you, stop grinning. The three of us standing here like idiots isn’t helping.”

“No, I’m different from them. I also understand business and stocks. I’m just here to see if I can attract a rich, beautiful woman.”

Zhang Wei defended himself. After all, he was an outstanding graduate. How could he be the same as Mei Liangxin, the illiterate, and Zhao Qing, the streetwise hustler?

“Heh, do you think you’re me, just standing here doing nothing and women come flocking to you?”

Xu Shaochen rolled his eyes. Not everyone could match his charm.

Seeing Xu Shaochen’s righteous confidence, the three were left dumbstruck. Truly, a shameless person is invincible.

“Young Master Xu, and the rest of you, hello.”

Ye Tao walked over, holding a wine glass.

The trio rolled their eyes simultaneously. Only Xu Shaochen was greeted personally, while they were lumped together. How realistic, a true bootlicker.

“Recently, hand over your responsibilities at Tianfeng Group. Your replacement has been found. You should prepare for a trip to Hong Kong.”

Xu Shaochen said calmly to Ye Tao.

The initial plan to have Ye Tao take a position at Tianfeng Group was to test his capabilities.

So far, he’s handled internal matters well. External development is still hard to judge due to the short time, but at least Ye Tao shows some skill.

This time, he has to take Ye Tao along. If all goes well, Ye Tao will be in charge of Hong Kong.

Although it’s about Hong Kong, the Lin Family’s business encompasses all of Southeast Asia. It’s a region that requires sharp acumen.

    “Yes, Chairman Xu.”

Ye Tao perked up, sensing an upcoming promotion.

“I think we can help too.”

Mei Liangxin and the others exchanged glances, and said earnestly.

Xu Shaochen frowned, “Zhao Qing, focus on the old city’s demolition and speed it up. Zhang Wei, finalize the law firm business quickly. So, you both can forget about going.”

“What about me? I’m free. I should be able to go, right?” Mei Liangxin asked eagerly.

    “You… alright, you can go.”

Mei Liangxin indeed had nothing to do all day. Rather than leaving him in Jiangzhou to mess with innocent girls, it was better to keep him close and under watch.

Hmm, the heartless Mei Liangxin looked excited, not realizing Xu Shaochen had already considered him as a pet.

Soon, the guests had mostly arrived, and the main event of the charity dinner was about to begin.

The host came on stage and delivered a moving speech, emphasizing the importance of charity.

    Then the donations began.

“That was inspiring. I’ll be the first to donate. I’ll donate 3 million!”

Han Tianxiong was the first to stand up, quickly writing a check.

Others inwardly cursed, thinking he had lifted the baseline too high. How could they donate less now?

You want to curry favor with Xu Shaochen, that’s your business. Don’t drag us into it!

    “I’ll donate 3 million too.”

    “I’ll donate 3.2 million.”

    “3 million.”

Though inwardly cursing Han Tianxiong’s ancestors, outwardly, everyone appeared eager to donate.

When everyone had almost finished donating, they realized Xu Shaochen had yet to say a word, and all eyes turned to him.

    “One hundred million.”

Xu Shaochen said calmly. Instantly, the reporters attending the charity dinner began snapping photos, with flashlights flickering continuously.

If nothing else, tomorrow’s headlines would surely feature Young Master Xu.

With these preceding donations, Xu Shaochen’s resolve for charity was evident.

    “One hundred and ten million.”

At that moment, a sudden voice interrupted.

Everyone turned to look in the direction of the voice.

They saw a young man, someone they had never seen before, standing up from his chair.

    “Whoosh!”

Immediately, the room burst into whispers.

They were surprised not only because he donated more than Xu Shaochen, but also because he dared to.

Usually, after Xu Shaochen speaks, no one would donate more, lest they try to outshine him.

But now, this young man was directly challenging Xu Shaochen.

More surprising was the fact that they had never seen this guy before. Where did he come from?

Though the reporters sensed something was off, none of them took photos, opting to tread carefully.

Xu Shaochen’s smile froze for a moment, but then he smiled again, “On behalf of the poor students, I thank you, sir. Your donation will assist thousands of struggling students.”

“No, I don’t care about helping those mud legs. They can all die for all I care. I’m only interested in humiliating you.”

The young man sneered at Xu Shaochen and replied indifferently.

Boom! The young man’s words were like a thunderclap, causing an uproar throughout the room.

Although everyone thought his donation intended to embarrass Xu Shaochen, hearing it from the man’s mouth had a different effect.

All eyes turned to Xu Shaochen, curious to see his reaction. Tonight’s events weren’t going as planned.

Xu Shaochen didn’t show a trace of anger, maintaining a wide smile, “If slapping my face can raise more money and help more poor students, then I welcome this sir to slap my face often.”

He truly wasn’t upset, but internally he was cautious. Who was behind this trouble now?

    “Clap, clap, clap…”

The room erupted in thunderous applause. Xu Shaochen’s words were indeed well-spoken.

“But now, I don’t feel like donating this money anymore, so forget it. As for poor students, what do they have to do with me?”

The young man smiled mockingly at Xu Shaochen, then turned and left without looking back.

The young man was Lan Cheng. He came tonight solely to disgust Xu Shaochen.

The people present frowned. Lan Cheng’s words were too harsh, especially when he called those poor students ‘mud legs.’

After all, many in this room had risen from humble beginnings, those ‘mud legs’ Lan Cheng spoke of.

    “Boss.”

Long Yi stepped forward, “Should we teach him a lesson?”

Xu Shaochen looked at the young man’s retreating back, smiling as he shook his head, “Less violence. We are civilized people.”
