Chapter Index

    Jiangzhou Grand Hotel.

This is where we’ll be dining today.

Usually, visitors to Jiangzhou stay at this hotel. After all, it’s a landmark that bears the city’s name.

    “Good day, Mr. Xu.”

As Xu Shaochen walked into the hotel with Mei Liangying, the employees greeted them one after another.

Xu Shaochen nodded in acknowledgment and walked into the elevator hand in hand with Mei Liangying, heading to their reserved private room.

Leaving Long San and Long Si to wait in the corridor, Xu Shaochen opened the door and entered the room with Mei Liangying.

Inside the private room were two middle-aged men dressed in suits. Xu Shaochen recognized one from pictures online; he was Director Cui Bo. The other man was unfamiliar.

“Apologies for keeping you waiting, Director Cui and President Ye.”

“No worries, no worries. Miss Mei, please have a seat. And the gentleman beside you is…?”

Cui Bo glanced at Xu Shaochen with a puzzled look.

Mei Liangying smiled slightly: “He’s the Vice President of my company, surname Xu.”

After all, she couldn’t very well say he was her boyfriend.

Bringing one’s boyfriend to a business meeting would clearly show a lack of trust in the other party.

“Shaochen, this is Director Cui, and this is President Ye of Wanhua Pictures.”

Mei Liangying introduced them to Xu Shaochen, pointing at each man in turn.

Xu Shaochen reached out to shake hands with both of them: “Greetings, President Ye and Director Cui. I’m a big fan of your films, Director Cui. I watch almost all of them. When I heard you would be here today, I couldn’t wait to come along.”

Of course, he hadn’t actually seen any of the director’s films, but that didn’t stop him from faking admiration.

After all, the director wasn’t foolish enough to ask if he had really seen any specific movie.

“Hahaha, you flatter me, you flatter me! Young Master Xu is the real achiever here—so young yet already the Vice President of Qianyin. Your future is limitless!”

“Alright, alright, let’s have a toast to our first meeting.”

After some pleasantries, Xu Shaochen and Mei Liangying sat down.

    “President Ye, about our collaboration…”

“Let’s not talk business yet. Have a drink first; after a good meal and some drinks, we’ll have the energy to discuss.” President Ye interrupted Mei Liangying, holding himself with an air of superiority.

Cui Bo also chimed in: “Right, right, President Ye is correct. Miss Mei, let’s eat first.”

Neither of them brought up the topic of the collaboration, leaving Mei Liangying with no choice but to go along with them for the time being.

“Miss Mei, such a strong woman! I toast to you!”

President Ye’s gaze toward Mei Liangying was almost blatantly lecherous as he frequently raised his glass to her.

“President Ye, our President Mei isn’t feeling too well. I’ll drink on her behalf. Come, I’ll toast to you.”

Xu Shaochen frowned slightly, suppressing his annoyance, and forced a polite smile as he raised his glass towards President Ye.

    “Clink!”

President Ye placed his wine glass back on the table, leaving Xu Shaochen hanging as he turned to Mei Liangying and said, “Miss Mei, you won’t even give me this small courtesy? If that’s the case, our collaboration might hit a snag.”

“President Mei, not just anyone deserves a toast from President Ye. You should understand that.” Cui Bo added, supporting President Ye.

Mei Liangying bit her red lip and remained silent.

    “Bang!”

In the next moment, Xu Shaochen slammed his wine glass directly onto President Ye’s head.

    “Ah!”

President Ye screamed as the wine glass shattered on his head, the shards cutting his skin, and thin streams of blood trickled down his face.

“Shaochen…” Mei Liangying’s face changed upon seeing this.

Xu Shaochen waved his hand, signaling her to stay quiet and just watch.

He calmly picked up a napkin and wiped his hand, then looked at President Ye and said, “Did you know? Not just anyone deserves a toast from me either. You don’t drink my wine; that’s disrespecting me.”

“You… outrageous!” Cui Bo glared at Mei Liangying and snapped, “President Mei, what’s the meaning of this? You can’t even control your own employees!”

“Damn it! How dare you hit me? Mei Liangying, let me tell you, you can forget about getting the distribution rights for this film. This matter no longer concerns you!”

Holding his head, President Ye stood up and pointed angrily at Mei Liangying, then glared at Xu Shaochen: “Kid, just because you smashed that wine glass on my head today, your Qianyin is doomed!”

    “Let’s go.”

With that, President Ye and Cui Bo turned to leave.

“President Ye, are you sure you want to leave like this?” Xu Shaochen said lightly.

President Ye sneered: “There’s a way to make me overlook this. All Miss Mei has to do is spend the night with me. I’ll even pay at the rate of a top-tier star. Not a bad deal, right?”

    “Slap!”

“You scoundrel!” Mei Liangying raised her hand and slapped him across the face.

“You b*tch! You just wait and see! I’ll ruin you! Do you think just because my surname is Ye, I’m easy to mess with?”

Feeling the burning pain on his face, President Ye’s heart was filled with rage.

Just a mere second-tier entertainment company boss, and she dares to refuse me and even hit me? Unbelievable!

“President Mei, you’ve caused serious trouble.”

Cui Bo said, looking at Mei Liangying.

“Don’t waste any more words on them. Someday she’ll be begging at my feet!”

President Ye snarled, reaching for the private room door.

However, the bodyguards standing in the hallway outside caught both of them by surprise. After a moment of confusion, they continued walking out.

“Long San, make them come back.”

    Xu Shaochen raised his voice.

Just as President Ye and Cui Bo were about to leave the private room, two bodyguards dragged them back in.

“What are you doing? Let go of me! Let go of me!”

President Ye and Cui Bo struggled, but it was futile.

By now, both of them sensed that something was seriously wrong.

Does the Vice President of Qianyin have this much clout when just going out for a meal?

“Alright, have President Ye and Director Cui stand at attention and speak to me properly.”

    Xu Shaochen said calmly.

A few slaps from the bodyguards put both President Ye and Cui Bo in line, forcing them to stand obediently in front of Xu Shaochen without daring to struggle.

“What did I just say? Oh yes, not just anyone deserves a toast from me. Why didn’t you drink it? Do you look down on me?”

Xu Shaochen asked President Ye with a serious expression.

“Mr… Mr. Xu…” President Ye stuttered, too scared to speak properly.

At that moment, he cursed Cui Bo and his entire ancestry. It was Cui Bo who had incited him to try anything with Mei Liangying.

“I’ll ask one more time: can we negotiate the cooperation?” Xu Shaochen asked.

President Ye nodded like a pecking chicken: “Yes, yes, we can negotiate.”

“Alright, the first thing is to find a replacement for him. I’m not too fond of this director.”

Xu Shaochen nodded and then pointed at Cui Bo.

Cui Bo’s face turned pale: “Mr. Xu, you can’t do this. Didn’t you say you’ve watched my movies?”
