Chapter Index

    In the car.

“Young Master Xu… Xu Please, if you let me go, I’ll do anything you ask.”

Jiangnan trembled as he spoke to Xu Shaochen. He was genuinely terrified.

The gap between him and Xu Shaochen was too vast. This gap drove him to despair, leaving him with no thoughts of revenge.

His only hope now was to stay alive, nothing more.

“Do something for me, and I’ll at least let you keep your life.”

Xu Shaochen spoke in a gentle tone.

Jiangnan nodded frantically as if grabbing onto the last lifeline. “I’ll do it. I’ll do anything.”

“Alright then…” Xu Shaochen calmly explained what he wanted Jiangnan to do.

Jiangnan’s face grew uglier by the minute. He carefully asked, “Young Master Xu… Will I go to prison for this?”

“You’ll stay alive.” Xu Shaochen replied with what seemed to be an unrelated statement.

Jiangnan swallowed nervously. Then, with gritted teeth, he responded, “Alright, I’ll do it.”

Xu Shaochen wasn’t lying. Jiangnan would go to prison but he’d stay alive.

A satisfied smile appeared on Xu Shaochen’s face. He detested those who had a death wish but admired those who cherished their lives.

Talking with such people made it easier to achieve his desired outcomes without much effort.

“Slow down the car, let’s wait for our dear Young Master Lin.”

Xu Shaochen spoke lightly, a faint smile curling at his lips.

Somewhere else, inside a clubhouse, Lin Yao stood up from the ground and walked out without a word.

His eyes flashed with cold light as he said a few words to his bodyguard.

He, the dignified eldest son of the Lin Family, was publicly humiliated by Xu Shaochen. He couldn’t swallow his pride.

Since he couldn’t take it in, he had to let it out. Xu Shaochen would pay the price.

    ………

    10 PM.

As several strong headlights lit up, Xu Shaochen was forced to stop.

Six cars in total blocked his way forward and back. The car doors opened and a group of burly men in suits stepped down.

Leading them was none other than Lin Yao.

“Xu Shaochen, come out and have a chat.”

Lin Yao wore a cold, smug smile as he knocked on Xu Shaochen’s car window.

Xu Shaochen opened the car door and got out. He looked at Lin Yao and feigned panic, “Lin Yao… What are you… What do you want? I’m telling you, don’t do anything rash!”

“Hahaha Xu Shaochen, Xu Shaochen, I didn’t think you could be scared. I thought you were fearless.”

Seeing the panic in Xu Shaochen’s expression greatly satisfied Lin Yao. He burst into laughter and raised his hand, delivering a slap to Xu Shaochen’s face.

    “Smack!”

A crisp sound rang out as bright red marks appeared on Xu Shaochen’s handsome face.

Xu Shaochen gasped in pain, a fierce look flashing in his heart. Damn you, hit me now, tomorrow I’ll make you pay dearly for this slap.

“What do you think you’re doing!?”

Long Yi and the others, seeing this scene, were furious. Each took a step forward, as though ready to fight Lin Yao to the death.

    “Don’t move!”

At that moment, something unexpected happened. Jiangnan pulled out a gun and pressed it against Xu Shaochen’s head, shouting at Long Yi and the others, “Step back Everyone back off! If anyone dares to move, I’ll shoot him dead!”

After shouting, Jiangnan turned to the still-stunned Lin Yao and said, “Young Master Lin, just give the word, and I’ll blow his brains out.”

Although Lin Yao was still in shock, he could see that Jiangnan was on his side.

It made sense too. Jiangnan had been forced to kneel by Xu Shaochen earlier. Naturally, he’d want revenge.

Thinking this, Lin Yao looked at Xu Shaochen and asked, “Afraid of dying?”

“I’m more afraid of that lunatic Jiangnan than you.”

Xu Shaochen swallowed hard, as though mustering his courage to say this. His face turned pale.

Lin Yao felt insulted. Waving to Jiangnan, he said, “Give me the gun.”

“Young Master Lin, did you not bring your own gun?” Jiangnan asked casually as he handed it over.

Lin Yao took the handgun and answered just as casually, “They’re all at home. Didn’t bring them today.”

He wasn’t stupid. Blocking someone on the streets—if the police found a gun in his car, that’d be a big problem.

With those words, he pressed the gun to Xu Shaochen’s head and snarled, “Scared now?”

“I’m… scared.” Xu Shaochen did his best to look terrified, shivering as he nodded.

Lin Yao was thoroughly enjoying this. Who cared if he was the so-called Young Master of Xu Corporation? On Hong Kong soil, even the King of Heaven had to bow to the Lin Family.

“This is just a small warning. If you dare to act recklessly again, next time it will be your death. In Hong Kong, there’s only one voice—the Lin Family’s voice.”

Lin Yao boasted haughtily suddenly froze, as his pupils shrunk. In his view, a fist was growing larger until it smashed into his nose.

    “Ah!”

Lin Yao screamed as he was sent staggering back, collapsing to the ground.

At the same time, Long Yi and more than a dozen bodyguards also started fighting with Lin Yao’s men.

Xu Shaochen began to mercilessly beat Lin Yao, raining slaps on his face.

    “Stop or I’ll shoot!”

Lin Yao pointed the gun at Xu Shaochen and roared.

    “Go screw yourself.”

Xu Shaochen sneered, raising his foot to kick Lin Yao between the legs.

    “Ahhhh!”

Lin Yao let out a blood-curdling scream. His eyes bloodshot, he pulled the trigger. “Die!”

But no bullet came out. Lin Yao stood there, stunned.

    “Idiot.”

Xu Shaochen sneered, then leaned down and whispered in Lin Yao’s ear, “There are no bullets in the gun.”

Lin Yao instantly felt a terrible foreboding, realizing he had been tricked. Jiangnan must have been in league with Xu Shaochen all along.

“Young Master, let’s get out of here.”

While Lin Yao was still dazed, two bodyguards dragged him into the car and sped off. Xu Shaochen didn’t stop them, simply watching as they retreated.

“You know what to do, right?”

Xu Shaochen put on gloves, took the empty magazine out of the handgun, and replaced it with a loaded one.

    “How is it?”

    Xu Shaochen asked, turning around.

Long San chuckled as he handed Xu Shaochen a phone, “Everything is recorded. From the moment we were blocked to the moment we fought back.”

“Call the police and release the video online. Let’s stir things up.” Xu Shaochen nodded as he spoke.

The handgun had the fingerprints of both Jiangnan and Lin Yao. Coupled with the video evidence, Lin Yao was done for.

Xu Shaochen then looked at Jiangnan and said, “You know what to say when the police arrive, don’t you?”

“Yes… Yes, I’ll say I was working with Lin Yao. It was all his idea. I’ll surrender.”

Jiangnan’s voice trembled as he spoke. To commit murder with a gun—even though he was allowed to shoot—was still a serious crime.
