Chapter Index

    In the classroom.

Xu Shaochen had no interest in the lecture because Xie Wei was wearing a pair of denim shorts with her snowy white, long legs fully exposed.

In such a situation, how could Xu Shaochen concentrate on the lecture? He wished he could just take Xie Wei right there.

After all, this is a common scene in Japanese films. One moment, everything is normal in class, and the next, it’s absolute chaos.

    “Ding~”

His phone buzzed. It was a message from Linda.

It confirmed that the Old City would be demolished soon.

Xu Shaochen smiled. Mei Liangxin might seem unreliable, but he’s actually pretty dependable.

After class, Xu Shaochen planned to call Liu Rushuang and ask her to help him register a company since he wasn’t familiar with the process.

Initially, he was planning to start a restaurant. Now, he intended to add real estate to the mix.

Although the housing prices in the Old City didn’t compare to downtown, with the money he had, it was impossible to buy many properties.

So he planned to borrow some money from Linda to tide him over until the demolition compensation arrived and he’d repay her.

He couldn’t bring himself to ask Jenny for money now, especially since his grandfather’s will limited him to a mere 30 million a month until graduation.

“I’m skipping lunch. I have something to handle,” Xu Shaochen whispered to Zhou Fan, who was sitting next to him.

Zhou Fan, eyes glued to the teacher, replied, “Alright, but don’t forget the mixer tonight.”

    Xu Shaochen nodded.

“You guys have a mixer tonight?” Xie Wei asked.

With an indifferent expression, Xu Shaochen said, “I’m just going to make up the numbers. None of the girls can compare to you.”

Xie Wei smiled shyly. Regardless of whether Xu Shaochen was serious, she was pleased to hear it.

You see, sometimes a woman doesn’t care if you’re telling the truth or lying; she just wants to hear something that makes her happy.

“By the way, help me hand this to Teacher Zhao. Ask her to handle it for me.” Xu Shaochen handed a piece of paper to Xie Wei.

Xie Wei gave him a puzzled look. “What is it?”

“A dormitory departure application,” Xu Shaochen replied. He had written it last night. Now that he bought a house, he no longer planned to stay on campus.

Xie Wei nodded and asked, “You bought a house in Jiangzhou?”

“I’ll take you there one day,” Xu Shaochen said, brushing his hand against her smooth leg.

Xie Wei’s face turned slightly red. She gave him a seductive glare. “You’re awful. We’re in class; if anyone sees, we’ll be in trouble.”

    After class, Xu Shaochen left.

Stepping out of the classroom, Xu Shaochen dialed Liu Rushuang’s number.

“Hey, Sister Rushuang, does your offer still stand? Come with me to register a company,” Xu Shaochen said as he walked down the stairs.

“Sure, but you have to do me a favor too.”

“Anything you say, Sister Rushuang. I’ll climb mountains or cross seas for you.”

“Stop joking. Have lunch with me. My ex-boyfriend is getting married, and he and his fiancée want to ‘thank’ me.”

“Thank you? Or just try to show off and provoke you? Wait, what ex-boyfriend? You told me you’ve never dated.” Xu Shaochen realized what he just said. He remembered Liu Rushuang had told him she’d never been in a relationship.

“So, not really an ex. We almost got together, but the guy was a jerk. He tried to sleep with me right after confessing, so I kicked him out.”

“You’re amazing, Sister Rushuang!” Xu Shaochen laughed. Good thing he didn’t succeed. Otherwise, how else could I have won your heart? “Alright, pick me up at eleven.”

Liu Rushuang hummed proudly and hung up.

Checking the time, Xu Shaochen saw it was just ten o’clock. He called Mei Liangxin.

“You heartless bastard! You left me all alone last night! I waited in there for twenty minutes!”

As soon as the call connected, Mei Liangxin’s furious voice erupted from the phone.

“Cough, cough. Where are you?” Xu Shaochen almost choked. That sounded so wrong, like I’d slept with you and didn’t pay up.

“At the Hospital. I fell and broke a bone last night.”

    Xu Shaochen: “…………”

“Which hospital are you at? I’ll come visit and talk business at the same time,” Xu Shaochen said.

“At the City Hospital, second floor, ward 023,” Mei Liangxin replied.

Hearing about business, the furious Mei Liangxin immediately dropped the insults and called Xu Shaochen “Dad.”

Yep, this is typical Mei Liangxin.

For him, what’s a bit of face worth? Can you eat it?

After hanging up, Xu Shaochen drove toward the City Hospital.

The City Hospital was a thirty-minute drive from Jiangzhou University. Since he needed to pick up Liu Rushuang at eleven, Xu Shaochen drove quickly, arriving in just over twenty minutes.

    “What are you looking at?”

Entering the ward, he found Mei Liangxin with his left arm in a sling, right hand scrolling through his phone, a lecherous smile on his face.

“Hehe, come look. She’s a real beauty. Whole night for just 1,200,” Mei Liangxin said, winking at Xu Shaochen as he handed him the phone.

Glancing at the screen, Xu Shaochen saw Mei Liangxin chatting with a woman who was clearly a professional.

Looking at the picture, she was indeed beautiful. 1,200 was quite a bargain.

“Even with a broken arm, you can’t control your lusty heart!”

    Xu Shaochen rolled his eyes.

“I’m cultivating! Only by experiencing all kinds of temptations will I finally transcend the worldly desires,” Mei Liangxin said solemnly, even mimicking a monk’s gesture.

Xu Shaochen’s face darkened. “Get lost! If a monk hears how you’re slandering them, they’ll want to fight you.”

“Enough of this crude talk. Let’s talk money. How’s the deal? Confirmed?” Mei Liangxin tossed his phone aside and eagerly looked at Xu Shaochen.

Xu Shaochen nodded. “The Old City is huge. Can you confirm which area specifically?”

“From Huarong Street to Willow Lane, it’s all going to be demolished,” Mei Liangxin replied, clearly intent on making money.

    “Alright, got it.”

Without another word, Xu Shaochen stood up to leave.

“What the hell? That’s it? You’re just going to leave like that?”

Mei Liangxin couldn’t help but curse. He’d felt a little touched when he heard Xu Shaochen was coming to see him.

Now he realized it was just a waste of his emotional energy.

Xu Shaochen paused, then took an orange from his pocket and placed it on the pillow with a smile. “Stay strong. I hope the illness and injury defeat you soon.”

    Mei Liangxin: “…………”

A thousand horses trampled through his mind. He’d never encountered someone so vile, who could utter such words.

    This was outright cruelty!
