Chapter Index

    What could Yun Changsheng say?

Should I say that I was called here by Kong Tianjing to beat you, but I switched sides at the last minute?

Pah! How could that be called betrayal? That’s called stopping at the brink, correcting my mistakes just in time. It’s better to turn back when there’s no end in sight.

Fortunately, Xu Shaochen didn’t dwell on this matter and instead asked: “Do you have any new plans against the Tan Family lately?”

“No, it’s still the same old tactics. I don’t know what Lan Cheng is thinking. On the surface, it looks like he’s putting in a lot of effort, but I feel he’s not as urgent as before.”

Yun Changsheng shook his head, frowning as he spoke.

The reason why Lan Cheng isn’t as urgent as before is because he has already bought off Tan Chen. Tan Chen will steal the samples or formulas.

Of course, Lan Cheng wouldn’t tell this to the other members of the alliance. This so-called alliance is just being used by Lan Cheng to divert Xu Shaochen’s attention.

The term that describes this strategy is ‘feinting to the east and attacking the west.’

The Lan Family can easily monopolize the formula. So, why would they share the benefits with others? Upon hearing Yun Changsheng’s words, Xu Shaochen frowned too. He couldn’t figure out what Lan Cheng was thinking.

Could it be that Lan Cheng really believes his flawed alliance can go up against me? He couldn’t be that naive.

“Pay close attention. I have a feeling something’s not right.”

Xu Shaochen said to Yun Changsheng as he pondered.

Yun Changsheng nodded, “I’d better leave before anyone sees me and reports to Lan Cheng, which could raise suspicion.”

In front of Xu Shaochen, Yun Changsheng always felt uneasy, as if there was an invisible pressure restricting his behavior and speech, making him want to escape.

Xu Shaochen nodded, and then Yun Changsheng left with his men.

    ………

    Elsewhere.

After being beaten twice, Kong Tianjing had not retreated.

He was still planning to seek revenge in Yijing relying on his network.

This is probably what’s referred to as being incredibly stubborn. He’s endlessly confident in himself, even after repeatedly running into walls.

Along with his four bodyguards, the five of them squatted by the street, looking just like a group of beggars.

“Look at them. If you don’t study hard, you’ll end up like them—a life of poverty and no future.”

On the sidewalk, a woman was using Kong Tianjing as a negative example while educating her daughter.

Kong Tianjing’s face turned ashen with rage, unable to tolerate it any longer. He turned around and shouted at the woman, “I am not a beggar! Not a beggar!”

“Why are you so angry? I didn’t say you were a beggar.” The woman was just as unwilling to back down and continued lecturing her daughter, “If you don’t want to be like those homeless men, you’d better study hard.”

    Kong Tianjing: “……”

Homeless men or beggars—what’s the real difference?

    “Beep—beep—”

Amid the horn’s blare, a Bentley pulled up beside Kong Tianjing.

“Young Master Kong… what… what happened to you?”

Lan Cheng got out of the car, utterly dumbfounded at the sight, his mind filled with confusion.

    Who was Kong Tianjing?

In Jingcheng, he was a notorious… playboy. When had he ever looked so pathetic?

“Take us to buy some clothes first. I’ll explain in the car. Damn it, Lan Cheng, let me tell you if you help me deal with those two punks, I’ll help your Lan Family set up a branch in Jingcheng.”

Kong Tianjing said with a dark expression, opening the car door without even looking back, as if the car belonged to him.

No wonder, rich heirs from Jingcheng are just that arrogant, just that brash.

Upon hearing this, Lan Cheng’s eyes lit up, and he hurried into the car.

Kong Tianjing’s promise to help the Lan Family establish a branch in Jingcheng meant that the branch would take root there, with the Kong family resolving any issues that arose.

That was a significant promise. After all, how many top companies in the country could set up a base in Jingcheng? These large companies found it incredibly difficult to enter and establish themselves in Jingcheng because the local forces wouldn’t allow it.

Right now, Lan Cheng felt a bit grateful to the poor soul who landed Kong Tianjing in this situation. Without this incident, the Lan Family might not have gotten such a good opportunity anytime soon.

“Young Master Kong, who had the guts to provoke you?”

Once the car door closed, Lan Cheng asked with a righteous fury.

Only then did Kong Tianjing notice that Lan Cheng was wearing a mask. He frowned, “Why are you wearing a mask?”

“Uh… I caught a cold recently and don’t want to pass it to you, Young Master Kong.” Lan Cheng didn’t dare say that he had contracted AIDS, knowing that Kong Tianjing would immediately kick him out of the car if he did.

Hearing this, Kong Tianjing didn’t pursue the matter further, gritting his teeth and saying, “One is Yun Changsheng from the Yun Clan…”

“Yun Changsheng?!” Lan Cheng exclaimed in disbelief. Yun Changsheng knew Kong Tianjing’s identity, yet he still dared to lay hands on him. Was he crazy?

Kong Tianjing’s brow furrowed, “Could you not interrupt me when I’m speaking?”

“Yes… yes, Young Master Kong, please continue.” Watching Kong Tianjing’s arrogant demeanor, Lan Cheng began to understand why he had been beaten so badly.

Kong Tianjing continued, his face darkening: “The other one’s surname is Xu. I don’t know his name, but Yun Changsheng’s dog shows him a lot of respect. He lives in Bamboo Garden at Feiyun Villa.”

    “Xu?”

Lan Cheng immediately knew who this was. Xu Shaochen had just gotten off the plane, and Lan Cheng had received the news.

However, Lan Cheng picked up on a crucial detail from Kong Tianjing’s words.

Yun Changsheng and Xu Shaochen knew each other.

Could Yun’s family be a mole in his anti-Xu alliance?

The more he thought about it, the more sense it made.

With that in mind, Lan Cheng’s face turned so dark it seemed like water could drip from it.

It’s a good thing he hadn’t let it slip that he had bought off Tan Chen, or everything would be ruined.

“Are you even listening to me?”

Noticing Lan Cheng’s dark, distant expression, Kong Tianjing’s voice grew heavier.

Lan Cheng snapped back to reality and quickly said, “Young Master Kong, I was just thinking of a way to avenge you. I’ve already figured it out.”

“Good! I don’t care what you do, just kill that Xu and Yun Changsheng. I’ll make sure your Lan Family’s branch in Jingcheng is established. You could even move your entire headquarters there if you wanted.”

Kong Tianjing spoke through gritted teeth, each word squeezed out with venom, revealing his deep hatred for Xu Shaochen and Yun Changsheng.

This also exposed Kong Tianjing’s ruthless nature.

Despite being the instigator, after getting beaten, he now wanted them dead, clearly showing he had done similar things before.

    “Kill them?”

    Lan Cheng raised an eyebrow.

“Yes, kill them. If you can’t do it, I’ll find someone else.”

A glint of cold light flashed in Lan Cheng’s eyes: “Alright, rest assured Young Master Kong. I’ll make sure you hear of their deaths.”
