In his arms was a naked Liu Rushuang. They had spent the night holding each other. Though Xu Shaochen moved his hands and feet a bit, he didn’t dare to actually make any moves.

After all, nothing is more important than my son. I can’t risk hurting the baby in Liu Rushuang’s belly for a moment of pleasure.

Women always take their time getting ready. It was a full hour before the car finally left the Bamboo Garden.

Xu Shaochen and Liu Rushuang sat in the middle car. Long Yi was driving, while Long Er sat in the passenger seat.

In the front car, Long San sat in the passenger seat, while in the rear car, it was Long Si. A total of ten bodyguards accompanied them, with a few left behind to guard the house in the Bamboo Garden.

Xu Shaochen kept his hand on Liu Rushuang’s stomach the entire time, filled with curiosity, joy, and a bit of anxiety about the little life inside.

“Alright, stop touching it. It’s only been two months. What’s the rush?”

Liu Rushuang couldn’t stand it anymore and playfully slapped Xu Shaochen’s hand away, feeling a bit jealous.

Even before the child was born, he was already vying for her attention. What would happen after he was born?

Suddenly, Xu Shaochen instructed Long Yi, and Long Er, in the passenger seat, passed the message to Long San and Long Si in the other cars.

The three cars stopped in front of a breakfast shop.

Xu Shaochen escorted Liu Rushuang out of the car and into the shop.

“There’s a dog.”

Suddenly, Liu Rushuang froze, turning pale as she tightly clutched Xu Shaochen’s arm.

Following her gaze, Xu Shaochen saw a wealthy-looking woman holding a large black dog and having breakfast. She was likely out walking her dog early in the morning.

The dog was massive, lying straight across the passageway. It bared its teeth at people from time to time, looking very menacing.

“Excuse me, could you please keep your dog closer to you? It’s scaring my girlfriend.”

Xu Shaochen patted Liu Rushuang’s hand to comfort her, then walked a couple of steps forward, addressing the dog’s owner.

The woman glanced at Xu Shaochen and Liu Rushuang before coolly replying, “My son doesn’t bite. Besides, it’s too cramped beside me, so he’s more comfortable lying there.”

“But this is affecting other customers, don’t you think?” Xu Shaochen remained patient, not wanting to lose his temper in front of Liu Rushuang.

However, he found the woman’s habit of calling the dog her ‘son’ utterly bizarre.

The woman frowned with impatience and said, “Who exactly am I bothering? Why should I move my son? I’ll say it again—my son won’t bite. Why are you so scared?”

After saying this, she ignored Xu Shaochen and turned back to continue her breakfast.

“Maybe we should go somewhere else,” Liu Rushuang suggested, eyeing the large dog and instinctively stepping back.

“Woof, woof, woof…”

Just then, the dog that had been lying down suddenly barked and lunged at Liu Rushuang.

“Ah!”

Liu Rushuang screamed in fear and quickly stepped back. Her high-heeled shoe slipped, and she almost fell.

With a loud crash, the black dog was sent flying across the passageway, landing with a whimper.

The woman’s face turned anxious as she dropped her bowl and chopsticks, rushing over to check on her dog.

“Rushuang, are you alright?”

Xu Shaochen looked at Liu Rushuang with concern. The baby was only two months along, and it was a fragile time. Xu Shaochen did not want anything to go wrong.

Liu Rushuang shook her head, still shaken. “No… I’m fine.”

Seeing the anger on Xu Shaochen’s face, she knew he was going to confront the woman. She quickly grabbed his arm. “Let it go, I’m not hurt, and the baby is fine. Let’s just leave.”

Since getting pregnant, she had become more averse to conflict and didn’t want Xu Shaochen getting into any trouble either.

“Alright, I’ll listen to you.”

Xu Shaochen reluctantly suppressed his anger, smiling as he prepared to leave with her.

If it weren’t for Liu Rushuang speaking up, he would have undoubtedly given that woman a couple of slaps.

Keeping aggressive large dogs in the city and bringing them to crowded places is simply inexcusable.

“Stop right there! You think you can just leave after hitting my son? Dream on! You’re not going anywhere!”

At that moment, the woman stormed over, her face full of rage. She grabbed Xu Shaochen, acting like a complete shrew.

The other customers in the shop looked on with disgust. They had never seen such an obnoxious woman.

She had already argued with someone earlier when she brought the dog into the shop. If she weren’t a woman, someone would have already slapped her.

“Miss, your dog tried to bite us. We’re already letting you off easy by not holding you accountable. What more do you want?”

Liu Rushuang gave the woman a cold stare, also angered by her shrewish behavior.

The middle-aged woman pointed her finger at Liu Rushuang’s face and cursed, her voice full of venom and arrogance.

“Slap!”

Xu Shaochen raised his hand and gave the middle-aged woman a hard slap across the face, his voice icy as he said,

“Watch your mouth. My girlfriend is pregnant, and you should be thankful nothing happened. If anything had gone wrong, not even your death would atone for it!”
