Chapter Index

“Chief Zhao, thank you for your help tonight.”

Xu Shaochen said as he looked at Chief Zhao.

Indeed, this was the same Chief Zhao the two had met just yesterday. It seemed like fate.

Chief Zhao smiled and said, “Mr. Xu, I should be the one thanking you. If it weren’t for your tip-off, who knows how much harm these firearms might have caused to society.”

“That person is named Lan Cheng.” Xu Shaochen said with a faint smile, seeming to change the subject.

Chief Zhao’s face twitched slightly, but he replied firmly, “No matter if his last name is Lan or Li, he now has only one identity—criminal!”

Xu Shaochen nodded in admiration for Chief Zhao’s unwavering integrity.

Over twenty firearms—this was indeed a significant weapons case. Coupled with the evidence Xu Shaochen had arranged to be filmed, the Lan Family would be greatly harmed even if they weren’t completely destroyed.

As the ‘victim’ in this case, Xu Shaochen also had to go to the police station to cooperate with the investigation.

By the time he left the station, it was already past ten in the evening.

Members of the Tan Family had been waiting outside. The moment they saw Xu Shaochen, they surged forward.

“Mr. Xu, are you alright? We just received the news.”

“Sigh, who would’ve thought that someone named Lan would be so bold.”

“Thank you all for your concern. Fortunately, I’m still alive.” Xu Shaochen sighed with a sense of relief before saying, “Chairman Tan, don’t worry. I’ll find Tan Chen as soon as possible.”

Xu Shaochen had to find Tan Chen, but his main focus was still on Lan Cheng.

Once he found him, Xu Shaochen wouldn’t be greedy and keep him for himself. Of course, he wouldn’t hand him back to the Tan Family so easily either.

    He wanted more shares.

After all, he had put in the most effort so far and naturally deserved more.

If it wasn’t for him, the Tan Family would have ended up with nothing.

“Sigh, I’m sorry to trouble you, Mr. Xu. We never thought that our Tan Family would produce such an unfilial descendant who betrayed us and brought shame to our family.”

Speaking of Tan Chen, Tan Siming’s face turned ashen with anger, and he gritted his teeth.

It would have been bad enough if he only stole the Samples and Formula, but he even went as far as burning the experimental notes and Documents. This was like cutting off the Tan Family’s future.

If this had been done by an outsider, it would have been easier to accept, but what pained him the most was that it was his own nephew who did it. It was utterly insane!

Tan Chen’s father stood to the side, his face full of shame, unable to say a word.

When he first learned of this, he fainted on the spot out of sheer anger, feeling that he had failed the Tan Family by raising such a rebellious son.

“Chairman Tan, don’t worry. If I hear anything, I’ll notify you right away. I must excuse myself now; my girlfriend is waiting for me to return.”

After bidding farewell to Tan Siming, Xu Shaochen got into his car and left.

“Dad, what if he finds him and doesn’t return him to us?”

As the luxury car drove away, Tan Ling asked anxiously.

Everyone else’s eyes also focused on Tan Siming, clearly sharing the same concern. The Tan Family was in a very passive position right now.

Tan Siming gave a bitter smile, “What can we do? What can the Tan Family do now? Our only hope is that he won’t take everything for himself.”

Upon hearing this, everyone fell silent because, indeed, they had no other options.

Tan Ling felt conflicted, recalling the words Xu Shaochen had said to her on the gambling cruise in Hong Kong—’Weakness is the original sin.’

    ………

    Feiyun Villa, Bamboo Garden.

    “Boss.”

Seeing Xu Shaochen return, the bodyguard at the gate quickly walked over and opened the car door.

“Boss, there’s a guest from the Lan Family. Miss Liu is entertaining him in the living room.”

Xu Shaochen got out of the car, and the bodyguard who had opened the door for him reported.

“Someone from the Lan Family? Heh, they came quickly.”

Xu Shaochen chuckled, adjusted his collar, and then strode into the house.

As soon as he stepped into the living room, he saw Liu Rushuang reading a book and Lan Guangming sitting there with a stern expression.

    “Shaochen.”

Seeing Xu Shaochen enter, Liu Rushuang quickly stood up and helped him take off his coat.

She had been on edge all night, worried about Xu Shaochen’s safety.

But when Lan Guangming paid a visit, she felt a wave of relief knowing that Xu Shaochen was safe.

    “Young Master Xu…”

Lan Guangming took a deep breath and stood up from the sofa.

    “Who are you?”

Xu Shaochen interrupted him, sitting down on the sofa and pulling Liu Rushuang into his embrace.

Of course, he knew who Lan Guangming was, but he intentionally pretended not to, just to humiliate him.

Lan Guangming’s face changed colors, but he swallowed his anger and said, “Young Master Xu, I am Lan Guangming, Lan Cheng’s father. I want to have a talk with you.”

“A talk? Shouldn’t you be busy preparing for your son’s funeral? What do you want to talk about?”

Xu Shaochen smirked as he observed Lan Guangming, evaluating him like one would a clown.

Lan Guangming’s anger boiled, but he had no choice but to hold it in. He took a deep breath and pleaded passionately, “Young Master Xu, my youngest son has already died at your hands. Can’t you spare my eldest son? I’m begging you as a father, hoping you’ll understand. Someday you’ll have children too.”

He was aware that the Lan Family could potentially save Lan Cheng through a mental health claim.

But that would take time, and during this period, Lan Cheng was in the most danger.

If Xu Shaochen took action, Lan Cheng would surely die.

Hearing this, Xu Shaochen sneered and said to Lan Guangming, “My girlfriend is pregnant. That’s all the more reason I won’t spare Lan Cheng.”

Lan Guangming hesitated, not understanding what he meant.

“Just now, Lan Cheng told me he would send my unborn son to hell to join me. Now tell me, how can I spare him?”

Xu Shaochen’s gaze grew colder as he looked at Lan Guangming, as if staring at a dead man. He wouldn’t just eliminate Lan Guangming; he would make sure the Lan Family vanished without a trace, leaving no room for retaliation.

Lan Guangming’s heart trembled at this, realizing the slim chances of achieving his goal tonight.

“Young Master Xu, it’s better to make friends than enemies. I’ll agree to any condition you put forward.” Lan Guangming made one last attempt to negotiate.

Xu Shaochen completely ignored him. He took a sip of tea.

    “Sir, please leave.”

Seeing Xu Shaochen’s reaction, Long Yi stepped forward and coldly addressed Lan Guangming.

Gritting his teeth, Lan Guangming spat out, “Xu Shaochen, our Lan Family isn’t a pushover. This is Yijing—are you really going to push me to the point of mutual destruction?”
