Chapter Index

    9:30 PM.

    Yijing Grand Hotel.

“Good evening, sir. How can I help you today?”

The hotel’s receptionist flashed a sweet smile at Xu Shaochen, asking politely.

This had nothing to do with her professional training; it was entirely because Young Master Xu was incredibly handsome.

Xu Shaochen returned the smile, “Hello, beauty. Could you tell me which room Kong Tianjing is in? I’m a friend of his, but his phone is off. I need to find him urgently.”

“This… sir, let me check for you… He’s in Room 021.”

Unable to refuse such a handsome face, the receptionist decided to help him out. Although revealing a guest’s room number wasn’t quite the proper thing to do.

    “Thank you.”

Xu Shaochen thanked her and then, with Long Yi and Long Er in tow, stepped into the elevator.

The receptionist’s eyes followed Xu Shaochen’s back until the elevator doors closed.

Why didn’t he ask for my WeChat? I would’ve given it to him for sure. And whatever might happen this evening, I’d be more than happy with that.

Women can be just as lustful as men; they just hide it better.

Men might steal glances at beautiful women, but women will also fantasize when they see a handsome guy.

Xu Shaochen had no idea that, unintentionally, he had once again ignited a woman’s interest in him. He was now standing at the door of Room 021.

From the doorway, he could faintly hear voices coming from inside.

But Xu Shaochen, being well-raised, an outstanding student, and a model of good behavior, thought that eavesdropping on others’ conversations was quite impolite.

    So…

    “Bang!”

He kicked the door open directly and strode inside with Long Yi and Long Er.

As Xu Shaochen barged in, the lively atmosphere inside the room instantly froze. Every pair of eyes focused on him.

There were eight people in the room: five middle-aged men, and three young men including Kong Tianjing.

“Oh, having dinner, are we? There’s so much food here that you won’t finish it all. Mind if I join you with another set of bowl and chopsticks?”

Xu Shaochen said with a cheerful smile, but his gaze was fixed on Kong Tianjing.

Seeing Xu Shaochen, Kong Tianjing’s expression immediately darkened. His hand, which was holding a wine glass, turned pale at the knuckles, clearly a result of clenching too hard.

To Kong Tianjing’s left, a young man in a silver suit noticed this, understanding that there must be some conflict between the two. He thought this might be his opportunity.

    “Bang!”

He slammed the table, pointed at Xu Shaochen, and shouted angrily, “How dare you! Who allowed you to enter? Get out of here immediately!”

“Kid, do you know who I am? How dare you speak to me like that?” Xu Shaochen looked at the young man in the silver suit with a half-smile.

The young man was stunned for a moment, but then snapped back, still speaking rudely, “What does it matter who you are? I’m telling you again, get out right now! You’re disturbing Young Master Kong’s meal!”

Hearing that, everyone noticed how unpleasant Kong Tianjing’s expression had become, and immediately caught on.

They couldn’t help but regret it—how did they miss this earlier? They had lost a perfect chance to curry favor with Kong Tianjing.

    “Slap!”

Xu Shaochen took two steps forward and swung a slap across the young man’s face.

The crisp sound left everyone in the room stunned.

No one expected Xu Shaochen to actually hit someone. And he didn’t just hit anyone; he hit someone significant.

To be precise, there wasn’t a single ordinary person in this room.

    “You… you dare hit me?”

Feeling the burning pain on his face, the young man in the silver suit looked as if he’d seen a ghost, utterly incredulous.

“Seems like you’re still not fully awake. Let me help you wake up.”

Xu Shaochen smiled, picked up a glass of alcohol, and splashed it over the young man’s face, before smashing the wine glass against his head.

    “Crash!”

The glass shattered instantly, leaving a cut on the young man’s forehead.

    “Ah!”

The wound wasn’t deep, but the pain made the young man yelp instinctively.

“Not even Young Master Kong next to you dares to ask me to leave. Where do you get the nerve to say that? Who gave you the guts? Liang Jingru?”

Xu Shaochen asked mockingly, looking at the young man.

Hearing that, the others decided it was best not to interfere, as Xu Shaochen’s words indicated he was no ordinary person.

    “Slap Slap!”

Xu Shaochen gently patted the young man’s face while looking at Kong Tianjing, who was grim-faced, and said, “Young Master Kong, what do you think?”

    Everyone turned to Kong Tianjing.

“Xu Shaochen, what do you want? You’re not welcome here. Leave immediately.”

Kong Tianjing said each word slowly, suppressing his inner fury.

His priority right now was to keep his promise and rescue Lan Cheng. He’d deal with Xu Shaochen later.

Moreover, he now knew Xu Shaochen’s identity, so he couldn’t act as recklessly as before.

“Why am I here? I’m just here to remind you, Young Master Kong, that if something doesn’t belong to you, don’t go grabbing it. Otherwise, you might lose more than you gain when someone decides to cut your hand off someday.”

Xu Shaochen said with a cheerful smile, but everyone could hear the underlying threat.

Kong Tianjing coldly snorted, “Xu Shaochen, I don’t understand what you mean. I only know that what’s in my hands is mine. And if anyone tries to take it, I’ll chop their hands off.”

Only he knew what Xu Shaochen was referring to.

The special medicine formula and sample for AIDS.

Now that it was in his hands, there was no way he was giving it up. It would be purely wishful thinking.

“Heh, let’s see who prevails, then.”

Xu Shaochen said, unapologetically pulling up a chair and sitting down. He then turned to Long Yi and said, “Go, tell the waiter to bring me an extra set of bowl and chopsticks. It would be a rare honor to dine with Young Master Kong.”

    “Yes, Boss.”

Long Yi responded and exited the room.

“Xu Shaochen! What exactly do you want? I don’t have time to mess with you right now. Don’t push me!”

Kong Tianjing yelled, his eyes locked onto Xu Shaochen with such fury that he scarcely restrained from ripping him apart.

With Xu Shaochen here, how could he discuss Lan Cheng’s matter with these people?

“Young Master Kong, you’re a respectable young master of the Kong Family. Surely you’re not so stingy that you can’t even offer me a meal, are you?”

Xu Shaochen looked at Kong Tianjing in disbelief, then turned to the others in the room and said, “Come on, tell me, isn’t Young Master Kong being a little miserly?”

The others remained silent. They had clearly seen through the situation—this was a battle between giants.

And this was not a fight they wanted to be caught up in. Just look at what happened to the guy who spoke out earlier—he was a perfect warning sign.
