Chapter Index

    When the people came in.

Xu Shaochen was a little surprised.

He didn’t expect it to be the same people he had dinner with tonight, including Kong Tianjing.

They were all carrying items. The young man in the silver suit, who had been hit on the head by a wine glass, had his forehead wound wrapped with a simple bandage.

“Mr. Xu, we apologize for the sudden visit. We hope you don’t mind.”

“Yes, yes, Mr. Xu. You’ve been in Yijing for so many days, and we are just coming to visit you now. We are really sorry.”

The group smiled ingratiatingly at Xu Shaochen, lowering themselves as much as possible.

Some of the young men were a bit embarrassed to say such things, but not one of them dared show any displeasure.

Director Liu, standing off to the side, started sweating profusely, his face going pale.

Out of the people who came to visit Xu Shaochen, several were unfamiliar to him, but there were a few he had met before.

He could say with certainty that any one of these people could, with just one sentence, send him back home to farm sweet potatoes.

Yet now, when facing Xu Shaochen, they were all polite and fawning.

This showed just how strong Xu Shaochen’s power was.

Just thinking about it made him feel dizzy. His subordinates actually took Xu Shaochen’s bouquet, more than a hundred stems in total.

The reason he protected that auxiliary police officer tonight was because that was his nephew. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have been bothered to care.

“You’ve already come, so let’s forget about it. But you didn’t have to bring gifts, I’m embarrassed by this.”

Xu Shaochen smiled as he said this, nodding his head and signaling Long Yi and Long Er to accept the gifts they brought.

This was considered as accepting their goodwill and letting bygones be bygones.

The group exhaled in relief. As long as Xu Shaochen was willing to reconcile, that was enough. What they feared most was him stubbornly refusing to let it go.

“Mr. Xu, we came tonight just to introduce ourselves. We will visit you again another day. It’s getting late now, so we’ll take our leave.”

“Why don’t you have some tea before you go?” Xu Shaochen said.

“No, don’t trouble yourself, Mr. Xu. We’ll take our leave now.”

They quickly waved their hands. Tea? You didn’t even serve tea, so what tea are you talking about?

“Don’t worry, Mr. Xu, within half an hour, the more than 100 missing roses will be delivered to you.”

As soon as they left, Director Liu firmly promised.

“I hope you keep your word.”

Xu Shaochen waved his hand, dismissing them.

His nephew wanted to say something, but Director Liu covered his mouth and forcibly dragged him out of the living room.

“Uncle, why are you so afraid of him? What’s the big deal? It was just a few flowers.”

After leaving Bamboo Garden, the young man said indignantly.

“Fool! If you want to die, don’t drag me down with you! Let me tell you, if you dare to do something so foolish again, just consider finding a new job!”

Director Liu said coldly, his words as sharp as a knife.

The young man was stunned. Ever since he became an auxiliary police officer, his uncle had always looked after him, and that had given him the courage to act recklessly.

But tonight, not only did his uncle hit him, it was also the first time he had spoken to him so harshly.

Director Liu sighed again and earnestly said, “It’s all for your own good. Do you know who those people who just left were?”

“Who? The King of Heaven himself?” The young man retorted, unconcerned.

Director Liu sneered, “Maybe not the King of Heaven, but to people like us, they’re even more powerful.”

“The guy with the head injury is the son of the second-in-command of Yijing. Do you understand now?”

    “Uncle… this… this can’t be true.”

The young man was dumbfounded, his face full of disbelief, and he started to stutter.

In his world, even the son of a district police chief was already a big shot.

As for someone like the son of the city’s second-in-command, that was someone he couldn’t even imagine.

But now, his uncle had told him that the person who just acted so humble before Xu Shaochen was the son of Yijing’s second-in-command. This completely shattered his worldview.

“Kid, this world is big, full of hidden dragons and crouching tigers. How many roses did you take tonight? Go buy the same number from a flower shop and deliver them all to him.”

Director Liu spoke with a heavy heart. He thought tonight was actually a good thing.

Otherwise, his increasingly arrogant and unruly nephew would cause bigger trouble someday.

The young man swallowed hard, his eyes somewhat blank as he nodded.

    ………………

    The next morning.

Xu Shaochen woke up before Liu Rushuang and then woke her up too.

“Hey, what are you doing? You’re so annoying! Stop bothering me. I want to sleep.”

Liu Rushuang groggily turned over and tried to keep sleeping after Xu Shaochen woke her up.

“Sister Rushuang, wake up. Wake up!”

Xu Shaochen persisted until Liu Rushuang had no choice but to get up.

“Ahhh! What do you want? Can’t you just let me sleep a little longer?”

Liu Rushuang felt like she was about to explode. She sat up, fuming, and glared at Xu Shaochen.

“It’s not early anymore. Time to get up and have breakfast. Even if you don’t want to eat, the baby in your belly still needs to eat.”

As he spoke, Xu Shaochen started helping her get dressed.

When it came to undressing women, Xu Shaochen was very skilled. After all, practice makes perfect.

But dressing a woman was much harder. It took him more than ten minutes to help Liu Rushuang get dressed.

After she was dressed, any sleepiness Liu Rushuang had was long gone.

After tidying herself up, Liu Rushuang walked ahead and opened the bedroom door.

In an instant, she froze on the spot, her pretty face filled with shock, her rosy lips forming an ‘O’ shape.

    “This… This is so beautiful.”

    Liu Rushuang stammered.

What met her eyes was a sea of red roses. The fragrant scent, carried by the morning breeze, made it impossible not to be enchanted.

    “So, do you like it?”

Xu Shaochen stepped forward and asked with a smile, very satisfied with Liu Rushuang’s expression.

After all, he had gone to great lengths to achieve this effect.

(At this point, Long Yi and the other bodyguards would probably want to shout out their frustration. Sure, it was a lot of work, but it was obviously us who did all the work! You were already asleep a long time ago, you lazy capitalist!)

“Yes, I love it! Hurry up and take a picture for me.”

Liu Rushuang nodded excitedly, taking out her phone and handing it to Xu Shaochen, while she positioned herself with her back to the sea of flowers.

Now she understood why Xu Shaochen had woken her up. It was so she could see this ocean of flowers.

After all, if they waited too long, the sun would come up and the roses could wither.

“Long Yi, come over and take a picture for us.”

Xu Shaochen called Long Yi over and then put his arm around Liu Rushuang as they both stood with their backs to the sea of flowers.

    Long Yi: “…”

You’ve got to be kidding me. I put in all this effort to arrange these roses, just to watch you two have fun taking romantic photos?
