Chapter Index

    “I object!”

Lan Guanghui glared at Lan Guangrong, then shouted through gritted teeth.

Thinking about how all his efforts would benefit someone else, he simply couldn’t accept it.

“Big Brother, I’m afraid your objection won’t make a difference. The board follows the rule of majority. Take a look around. Who else will support you?”

Lan Guangrong chuckled dismissively, surveying the room before turning his gaze to Lan Guanghui.

With no expression, Lan Guanghui said, “This matter needs to be discussed seriously in a formal meeting. We can’t just decide it so easily. I suggest we leave the chairman’s position vacant until a suitable candidate is found.”

He knew he had to buy himself some time.

    “A suitable candidate? Big Brother, I think I’m quite suitable, don’t you…”

The Conference Room erupted into chaos, with Lan Guanghui battling the crowd alone, full of unwillingness.

    ………

    Feiyun Villa.

    Inside Bamboo Garden.

Xu Shaochen was strolling through the garden with Liu Rushuang.

Since moving in, they had only really explored the living room, bedroom, and the front yard. They hadn’t properly seen the garden yet.

Bamboo Garden was the largest garden in the entire Feiyun Villa. Calling it just a garden felt a bit off; it was more accurately described as a medium-sized landscape garden.

Filled with various flowers, trees, ponds, rockeries, pavilions, and towers, the whole design was modeled after the famous Suzhou gardens.

“This garden is huge. It must have cost a fortune.”

After completing a round around the garden, Xu Shaochen and Liu Rushuang sat in a pavilion feeding the fish. Liu Rushuang couldn’t help but sigh.

It was clear that she really liked this kind of living environment.

Xu Shaochen smiled calmly and said, “If you like it, I can buy a piece of land when we go back and build one ourselves.”

Having money lets you be this carefree.

He even thought of building a seaside villa in the desert.

What? You say there’s no sea in the desert? Doesn’t matter. I’ll just hire some construction teams to dig one for me.

    With money, who cares?

“Forget it. That’s way too wasteful.” Liu Rushuang was tempted, but she still shook her head.

Xu Shaochen said, “It’s not a waste. Besides, what if we have more sons in the future? We’ll run out of rooms.”

“You breeding pig.” Liu Rushuang rolled her eyes.

Xu Shaochen laughed cheekily. “If I’m a breeding pig, then what are you? You’re the one carrying my child.”

“Scram!” Liu Rushuang spat out a single word in frustration.

The two of them leaned against the pavilion, Liu Rushuang resting her head on Xu Shaochen’s shoulder. Various colored fish leaped out of the pond below, creating a beautiful scene.

“Boss, Lan Guangming is here. He’s at the gate right now. Do you want to see him?”

At that moment, Long Yi rushed over, breaking the serene atmosphere.

    “Lan Guangming? Bring him over.”

Xu Shaochen was taken aback. Lan Guanghui came to see him in the morning, and now Lan Guangming had come in the afternoon. The Lan family sure was peculiar.

Could it be that Lan Guangming was here to beg for his life?

Soon, under Long Yi’s guidance, Lan Guangming walked into the pavilion.

“Director Lan, make yourself at home. I won’t bother serving you tea. After all, I doubt you’d want to drink tea with me.”

Xu Shaochen smiled lightly, speaking casually, and then continued feeding the fish.

Lan Guangming gave a self-deprecating smile and calmly said, “Director Lan? I don’t deserve that title anymore. I doubt Young Master Xu is unaware of what’s happening in my Lan family.”

“I know a little. Your brother came to see me this morning, wanting to hand you over for me to decide your fate. I turned him down.”

Xu Shaochen nodded, not denying it. At this point, Lan Guangming didn’t have the qualifications for Xu Shaochen to lie to him.

“Yes, it’s laughable, isn’t it?” Lan Guangming sneered. “Even though you have no intention of harming me, my own brother and uncles can’t wait to offer me up to you.”

“Enough, Director Lan. If you’re here to lament life, you can leave now. I’ve always lived by the motto ‘enjoy life while you can’, and have no interest in life’s profound musings.”

Xu Shaochen interrupted Lan Guangming, who was trying to play the role of the melancholic prince. Xu Shaochen clapped his hands to clean off the fish food residue, then stood up and looked at Lan Guangming.

Lan Guangming placed two documents on the stone table in the middle of the pavilion.

Xu Shaochen glanced at them. One was an equity transfer agreement. He looked up at Lan Guangming. “Director Lan, what is this supposed to mean? I can’t quite grasp what angle you’re playing here.”

“I want to sell my shares of Lan Corporation to you. If you take them, you’ll become the biggest shareholder. The price is quite cheap, only 700 million.”

Lan Guangming stated this with a blank expression. Still, Xu Shaochen caught a fleeting, cold glimmer in his eyes.

“Director Lan, aren’t you a ruthless one? I bet your relatives will be shocked when they see me show up at the company.”

Xu Shaochen could guess Lan Guangming’s plan. He wanted to use Xu Shaochen to take revenge on the Lan family.

Once Xu Shaochen bought Lan Guangming’s shares, he would become the largest shareholder. Knowing his own nature, Xu Shaochen would naturally try to take full control of Lan Corporation.

But when that happens, the other people in Lan Corporation would surely oppose him, leading to conflicts.

And in such conflicts, could any of them really win against Xu Shaochen?

This was Lan Guangming’s plan—ruthless and decisive.

Because he knew that without the Lan family, he no longer had the strength to continue fighting against Xu Shaochen.

So he had no choice but to put his hatred for Xu Shaochen aside, take the money, leave Yijing, and let Xu Shaochen deal with the rest of the Lan family.

“If Young Master Xu isn’t interested, I’m sure Kong Tianjing would be more than willing to buy them.”

Lan Guangming spoke in a calm tone, but deep down, he definitely preferred to sell them to Xu Shaochen.

Because this would enhance the satisfaction of his revenge.

“Weren’t you all eager to hand me over to Xu Shaochen?

Then I’ll make sure Xu Shaochen goes against all of you. Let’s see what you choose then.”

“Interested? Of course, I’m interested.” Xu Shaochen nodded, then looked at Liu Rushuang. “Dear, could you review the contract for me? I wouldn’t want Director Lan to pull a fast one on me.”

Lan Guangming showed no reaction to Xu Shaochen’s words.

Liu Rushuang nodded and took a contract, carefully reading through it. After more than ten minutes, she shook her head at Xu Shaochen, indicating that there were no issues.

Xu Shaochen grabbed the pen, signed his name, and then extended his hand. “Director Lan, I look forward to working together.”

“Just transfer the money to this account.”

Lan Guangming ignored Xu Shaochen’s outstretched hand, tossed a note with the account number onto the table, and left with his copy of the contract.

Xu Shaochen shrugged, withdrawing his hand. Hmm, that felt just a little awkward.

“Sister Rushuang, stay home and take it easy.”

Xu Shaochen said to Liu Rushuang.

“What about you?” Liu Rushuang asked.

Xu Shaochen smiled slightly and picked up the contract on the stone table. “Me? I’m certainly not going to waste Director Lan’s good intentions.”

After saying that, Xu Shaochen kissed Liu Rushuang on the cheek, hummed a little tune, and left.
