Chapter Index

“I’m giving you a few choices now.”

Xu Shaochen surveyed the room, placing both hands firmly on the conference table as he spoke decisively:

“First: Sell all your shares to me, and from then on, the company will have nothing to do with you.”

“Second: Sell part of your shares to me, resign from all your positions, and the company will provide for your retirement.”

“Third: You can reject the first two options, but then I’ll find other ways to take control of Lan Corporation.”

“I’ve said my piece. Now, make your choice.”

As soon as he finished speaking, Xu Shaochen sat down in the chair, waiting for their response.

If Lan Guangming hadn’t sold his shares to Xu, he wouldn’t have targeted Lan Corporation.

But Lan Guangming did just that, giving Xu the perfect excuse to get involved. There’s no reason to turn down money that’s handed to you.

You could only blame this group for going too far. They stabbed Lan Guangming in the back, so he retaliated in kind.

The result of this mutual backstabbing was that Lan Corporation was about to have a new surname—Xu.

It’s true what they say: when brothers turn against each other, they strike the hardest.

The deeper the love, the deeper the hate. The more Lan Guangming once cared about the family, the more he loathed it now.

By now, Lan Guangming had likely left Yijing with his wife, not giving the Lan Family any chance to retaliate.

The conference room was so quiet you could hear a pin drop. Everyone looked at each other, but no one dared to break the silence.

“What’s the matter? None of you want to choose? If you can’t decide, I’ll make the choice for you. I don’t have time to waste on this.”

Xu Shaochen glanced around the room, feeling a tinge of impatience.

“Mr. Xu, we acknowledge the shares in your possession, but in the future, you’ll only take dividends without interfering in the corporation’s internal affairs. What do you think?”

Lan Guanghui took a deep breath and cautiously asked Xu Shaochen.

“Hah! What a joke. Do I need your approval for the shares in my hand?” Xu Shaochen sneered, “You only have three choices. Don’t test my patience—my tolerance for men has always been low.”

What Xu wanted was complete control over Lan Corporation to implement sweeping reforms.

Otherwise, with these kind of weaklings in charge, Lan Corporation, already a declining enterprise, would just continue to sink faster.

What good would his shares be then? He’d be throwing seven billion down the drain for Lan Guangming.

Lan Guanghui’s face shifted between anger and resignation, but in the end, he didn’t dare speak further.

    “You, what’s your choice?”

Xu Shaochen randomly pointed at someone, forcing them to decide.

“I… I’ll choose the first one.”

The middle-aged man stuttered for a while before finally making up his mind under Xu’s ominous gaze.

“I’ll choose the first one too.”

    “Same here.”

Once one person took the lead, it wasn’t long before others followed. It’s a common psychological phenomenon.

Most people prefer to stay silent when faced with a situation, only acting after someone else takes the first step.

The reason for choosing the first option was simple.

If they were going to sell, they might as well sell everything and sever all ties with Xu Shaochen.

Another concern was the corporation’s current state.

What if they went with the second option and Xu Shaochen’s poor management led to the company’s collapse? If that happened, Xu Shaochen could just wipe his hands of the situation and walk away, while they would suffer the heaviest losses.

“Good, very good. Have the legal department draft the contracts. Once you’ve signed, you can take your money and enjoy your lives.”

Xu Shaochen smiled brightly. He liked people who understood the situation; they made everything so much easier.

Lan Guanghui and Lan Guangrong felt a pang of unwillingness.

But now, it was too late to go back. No matter how reluctant they were, they could only swallow their pride and concede.

The members of the Lan Family couldn’t help feeling a bit of regret. If only they had handled the Lan Guangming situation more moderately, things might not have turned out like this.

    “Ding ding ding…”

Just then, Lan Guanghui’s phone rang. He took it out to see that it was Lan Guangming calling.

    “Big Brother, you…”

Lan Guanghui was about to let loose all his pent-up anger, but before he could finish, he was interrupted.

“Second Brother, I just called an employee at the company. They said Xu Shaochen is there. So, how do you like the surprise I left for you?”

“Big Brother! No matter what, we’re still part of the Lan Family! What you did… It’s no different from betraying your ancestors and turning against your kin!”

Hearing Lan Guangming’s gloating voice, Lan Guanghui gritted his teeth and roared in anger.

“To hell with betraying ancestors! When you said those words, did you remember I’m your elder brother? I told you long ago: you refused me, so don’t blame me for being ruthless. You pushed me to this!”

“Hmph! Now that you’ve stabbed me in the back, you should understand how I felt. That’s it. The road ahead is long. We won’t meet again.”

With that, Lan Guangming hung up.

    “Beep… beep… beep…”

Listening to the dial tone in the quiet room, everyone fell into a pensive silence.

Lan Guanghui had put his phone on speaker, so they all heard Lan Guangming’s words, and their feelings were complicated.

“Ah, you people really are something else. All this scheming, and in the end, you handed the win to an outsider. Makes me feel a bit guilty, to be honest.”

Xu Shaochen sighed, his tone dripping with false modesty.

Seeing his smug expression, everyone wanted to punch him in the face.

Of course, it was just a thought. No one dared to actually do it.

Soon, the legal team came in with a stack of prepared contracts.

One by one, they signed, received their payments, and the company officially belonged to Xu Shaochen.

“Ladies and gentlemen, you may leave now. I’ll be using the conference room for a meeting with my staff soon, so I won’t be keeping you.”

Handing the signed contracts to Long Yi behind him, Xu Shaochen began to show them the door.

The Lan family members left the conference room, filled with a mix of bitterness, anger, and a tiny bit of relief.

The large amounts that had just transferred into their bank accounts were their only consolation.

    “Go and call the secretary.”

    Xu Shaochen instructed Long Er.

A moment later, a tall woman dressed in a black uniform walked in. She looked at Xu Shaochen nervously and asked:

“Excuse me, do you… need something?”

She didn’t know that Xu Shaochen was now her new boss.

“Go inform all the managers, and everyone above the manager level, to meet in the conference room. I don’t want this to take more than ten minutes.”

    Xu Shaochen said calmly.

    “Yes… of course, sir.”

Even though she didn’t know who Xu Shaochen was, the secretary dutifully went to carry out her task.
