Chapter Index

As the elevator doors opened, Mei Liangying hurriedly stepped out.

“Good day, Chairman.” The receptionist greeted respectfully.

“Miss Mei, you finally agreed to see me…” The young man, holding a bouquet, excitedly walked toward her.

But Mei Liangying avoided him and instead rushed with open arms into Xu Shaochen’s embrace, holding him tightly.

Seeing this, both the young man and the receptionist were taken aback, completely stunned as if they had seen a ghost, staring at Xu Shaochen in disbelief.

The young man felt as if struck by lightning, dropping the roses in his hand. He couldn’t believe it—what Xu Shaochen said was true. Mei Liangying really was his girlfriend.

And to think, just moments ago, he was foolish enough to say he would compete with him fairly.

How the heck am I supposed to compete? There’s no competition left!

The young man felt as though a sword had pierced his fragile heart, where it bled.

He had wanted to have a serious relationship, but before it even began, he had already lost.

Meanwhile, the receptionist turned pale with fear, cold sweat forming on her forehead. She couldn’t stop her legs from trembling.

She had an ominous feeling that she had just made a huge mistake.

After all, she had seen so many people like him recently.

All those who pursued Mei Liangying obtained her information through the receptionist and, in return, often gave her gifts, which made her somewhat cocky.

But Xu Shaochen hadn’t given her anything, so naturally, she didn’t treat him kindly.

However, only now did she realize that she had kicked an iron plate. Xu Shaochen was actually her boss’s legitimate boyfriend.

“Alright, that’s enough. There are outsiders here.”

Xu Shaochen patted Mei Liangying’s back, motioning for her to get up. Then, looking at the young man holding flowers, he smiled and said:

“Buddy, I told you I would personally end your budding feelings.”

“Get lost! You murderer, you’re so cruel!”

The young man gritted his teeth, kicked the roses on the ground, and quickly turned and left.

“You’re so bad! That guy wasn’t a bad person, you know. He’s been really respectful to me these past few days.”

Mei Liangying couldn’t help but roll her eyes, speaking with a hint of reproach.

Xu Shaochen responded domineeringly, “I have to completely crush any improper thoughts he has about you. No one is allowed to desire my woman.”

“Alright, alright, you’re the best. Let’s go to my office and talk.” Mei Liangying linked her arm with Xu Shaochen’s, and in an instant, she had already forgotten about the young man.

Xu Shaochen nodded, then pointed at the trembling receptionist and said, “Fire her.”

“Okay. You can go to the front desk to settle your paycheck later. We’ll pay your compensation exactly as the contract specifies, not a penny less.”

Mei Liangying told the receptionist. She didn’t ask for a reason; the employee was only a receptionist. Since Xu Shaochen said she should be fired, he probably had his reasons.

Upon hearing this, the receptionist’s mind went blank. By the time she reacted, Xu Shaochen and Mei Liangxin had already entered the elevator.

In that moment, she was filled with regret. Working at Qianyin Entertainment, even as a simple receptionist, her salary was 20% higher than that of receptionists at other companies.

She had to pull some strings just to get hired for this position. Now she lost her job, leaving her feeling like crying, but no tears would come.

If she could do it over again, she would never make such a foolish mistake. She would have treated Xu Shaochen with the proper attitude she had when she first started.

Right now, she just wanted to slap herself a few times.

You deserved this for running your mouth! Deserved it! ………………

Xu Shaochen and Mei Liangying walked hand in hand into the office.

As soon as they closed the door, Mei Liangying took the initiative, embracing Xu Shaochen and kissing him. What followed needed no words to describe…

“Hmm, you’re pulling on my hair. Could you get up for a moment?”

“It’s fine, just stay like this.”

After more than half an hour, the spacious office fell quiet again, with only Mei Liangying’s shallow breathing breaking the silence.

“You’ve been gone for so long, leaving me alone in Jiangzhou. You’re so mean.”

Mei Liangying caught her breath as she looked at Xu Shaochen with a hint of grievance.

Xu Shaochen ran his fingers through her sweat-dampened hair and apologized, “I know I was wrong, okay? Next time, wherever I go, I’ll definitely bring you with me.”

    “You better remember that.”

Xu Shaochen was silent for a moment, then said, “Liangying, there’s something I need to tell you… I… I’ve been lying to you.”

After confessing to Liu Rushuang, it was only natural that he would say something now.

“Whatever it is, it can wait. I still have some work to finish.”

Mei Liangying seemed to guess what was coming and averted her eyes from Xu Shaochen’s, starting to put on her clothes, as if trying to avoid the topic.

    “Just listen to me!”

Xu Shaochen grabbed her shoulders with both hands, making her face him. Taking a deep breath, he said, “Liangying, besides you, I have other women. I already had them before I met you.”

    “Slap!”

As soon as he finished speaking, Mei Liangying slapped him across the face.

    “I… I’m sorry, I… I didn’t mean to. I’m sorry, I’m sorry.”

After hitting him, Mei Liangying panicked, apologizing repeatedly as she looked at Xu Shaochen.

“No, I’m the one who should apologize. Liangying, hit me again if you want. I deserve it. I lied to you; it’s all my fault.”

Xu Shaochen spoke earnestly, his face burning with pain as if half of it had gone numb.

    Ouch, she didn’t hold back.

“You bastard! I’ll bite you to death, you scumbag. You liar! You tricked me into coming to Jiangzhou. Do you think I didn’t notice? I realized it back when I picked you up at the airport. That set of sisters is yours too, isn’t it?”

“My brother is a bastard too. He knew about this and didn’t tell me. All men are scumbags.”

Mei Liangying buried her face in Xu Shaochen’s chest, crying and occasionally biting him.

About ten minutes later, Mei Liangying finally calmed down, too exhausted to struggle anymore, and rested in Xu Shaochen’s arms.

“Actually, your brother gave you a heads-up.” Xu Shaochen couldn’t help but defend Mei Liangxin.

“By then, I was already in love with you. His warning was useless!”

“Alright, it’s all my fault. From now on, wherever you want me to go, I won’t go anywhere else. I’ll spend the rest of my life making it up to you.”

Xu Shaochen gently wiped the tears from the corners of her eyes as he softly spoke.

Seeing her reaction, he knew he was probably in the clear—Mei Liangying had passively accepted her fate.

“Get lost! Don’t touch me. I want to be in charge.”

    Mei Liangying pouted in anger.

“Ahem, well, Liangying, shouldn’t you discuss this with them first? I’ve always respected each of you, so deciding this on your own might not be fair.”

Xu Shaochen coughed a few times. Mei Liangying’s quickly jumping from one thought to another nearly made him lose track of the conversation.
