Chapter Index

A group of women was tasked with handling the move.

Xu Shaochen received a call from Zhao Qing and then headed to a building in the business district.

When Xu Shaochen arrived, Zhao Qing was already waiting at the entrance.

    “What’s going on?”

Xu Shaochen got out of the car and walked towards Zhao Qing.

With a look of shame on his face, Zhao Qing said, “Mr. Xu, this building is in a prime location. I had already closed the deal with the boss, but unexpectedly someone suddenly interfered.”

“Normally, if it had been anyone else, I would’ve used some methods to force them to back down, but it’s someone from the Sun Family. You have ties with the Sun Family, so…”

He didn’t finish his sentence, but Xu Shaochen understood what he meant.

Knowing that Xu Shaochen had a good relationship with the Sun Family, Zhao Qing didn’t dare to act recklessly and thus had to ask Xu Shaochen to step in.

But asking Xu Shaochen to step in also meant that Zhao Qing admitted he hadn’t handled it well.

    “It’s okay, you did well.”

Xu Shaochen patted his shoulder and asked, “Where are they now?”

“They’re upstairs with the building owner,” Zhao Qing quickly replied.

Xu Shaochen nodded, “Let’s go see which member of the Sun Family it is.”

From Xu Shaochen’s point of view, it was most likely one of Sun Hai’s relatives using the family name to do business.

First, he wanted to confirm who it was, then he figured he could just give Sun Hai a call.

He and Zhao Qing arrived at a lounge on the second floor of the building.

Through the glass door, Xu Shaochen saw two people sitting inside. The middle-aged man seemed to be the building owner.

The other young man was a familiar face—it was none other than his nephew, Sun Shang.

“Well, well… Why are you here?”

Sun Shang was about to make some mocking remarks when he saw Zhao Qing, but when his gaze landed on Xu Shaochen, his face instantly darkened.

“President Zhao, why are you still here? I already told you I’m selling this building to Young Master Sun. Why won’t you give up?”

The building owner looked at Zhao Qing, a bit helpless.

“Nephew, what’s this? Seeing your Uncle Xu and not even saying hello? Do you want me to call your father and tattle?”

Xu Shaochen said to Sun Shang with a smile.

Upon hearing this, both Zhao Qing and the building owner were stunned.

Nephew? Sun Shang’s face looked like he had just swallowed something bitter. Gritting his teeth, he muttered, “Xu Shaochen, you’re a respected man, using such a childish threat against me. Aren’t you ashamed?”

    “Xu Shaochen?”

Hearing the name, the building owner was startled. He took a closer look at Xu Shaochen.

No doubt about it, this was Xu Shaochen.

“Mr. Xu, please have a seat. I’ll make you a cup of coffee.”

The building owner looked at Xu Shaochen with a bowing gesture.

Xu Shaochen raised his hand to stop him, “No need for that. I’ll just have a quick chat with my nephew.”

“Don’t call me nephew!” Sun Shang said with a dark expression.

Xu Shaochen took out his phone and murmured, “Hmm, where did Brother Jiang’s number go…”

    “Damn!”

Sun Shang snatched the phone from Xu Shaochen’s hand.

Xu Shaochen looked at him with a smile and nodded slightly.

    “Uncle Xu.”

Sun Shang squeezed out those words through clenched teeth.

“Good boy. Now, return the phone to Uncle.”

Xu Shaochen smiled as he beckoned to Sun Shang.

With a look of utter frustration, Sun Shang handed the phone back, cursing Xu Shaochen and his entire family lineage in his heart.

How does it feel when your rival suddenly turns into your uncle? It’s utterly absurd!

“Xu Shaochen, even though I submitted to your pressure and called you Uncle, I’m still not going to let you have this building. In business, it’s all about skill. You can’t just use your seniority to get your way!”

Sun Shang looked at Xu Shaochen and coldly laughed, his confidence seemingly restored.

“Of course not, I wouldn’t do such a thing.”

Xu Shaochen nodded and then turned to the building’s owner, “How about selling the building to me? I’ll pay you the full price, and maybe we can even become friends.”

Seeing this, Sun Shang couldn’t help but sneer. This was the first time he’d seen such a straightforward, no-nonsense negotiation. As expected, he thought Xu Shaochen was just another rich second-generation relying on family wealth.

“Sure, Mr. Xu. It would be my honor to sell you the building. We can sign the contract anytime.”

The owner readily agreed. How could he refuse Xu Shaochen? Besides, he still needed to sell the property, and selling it to Xu Shaochen would certainly leave a good impression.

Sun Shang’s smile instantly froze. He was utterly flabbergasted, staring at the building owner in disbelief, “Boss, didn’t you just agree to sell it to me? How can you suddenly change your mind like this?”

“Young Master Sun, I’m sorry, but I think it would be better to sell it to Mr. Xu. If you still need a building, I can introduce you to other sellers.”

The owner gave a polite but firm smile to Sun Shang.

Then he turned back to Xu Shaochen with a fawning grin, “Mr. Xu, I’m willing to reduce the price by 30%. Additionally, it would be an honor to treat you to a meal.”

    Sun Shang: “…”

What happened to your integrity? But now he was starting to understand the stark difference between himself and Xu Shaochen.

Now he knew why Xu Shaochen didn’t need any negotiation tactics.

He didn’t need them at all.

Because he was Xu Shaochen. He had Chen Yu under his command and the Xu Family backing him.

His name alone was a golden ticket. Plenty of people were eager to curry favor with him; this building owner was just one of the many businessmen doing so.

“No need for a meal. I’ll pay the full price. I just got back from out of town, and things have been hectic. Let’s have that meal another time.”

Xu Shaochen said calmly to the building owner.

The owner immediately put on an apologetic expression, “All my fault. I was too presumptuous. I hope Mr. Xu can forgive me. But to show my apology, I’ll still reduce the price by 30%.”

He was desperate to offer Xu Shaochen this discount. If Xu Shaochen accepted, he would consider it a significant step toward building a relationship.

“I don’t have the habit of taking advantage of others for no reason. Let’s stick to the rules.”

Xu Shaochen refused once again. It was important not to accept benefits without reason. If he accepted the offer today, what would he do if this man came asking for a favor later? It wasn’t worth it.

“Sigh, fine.” The owner sighed in disappointment, not daring to press further.

On the side, Sun Shang felt like he was losing his mind, his eyes reddening as he glared at the owner.

When you agreed to sell the building to me, you hiked the price as much as you could.

But now that Xu Shaochen wants it, you’re doing everything to lower the price.

Can’t you at least consider how I feel?
