Chapter Index

    More than ten minutes later.

The door of Room 023 at the Jiangzhou Grand Hotel was knocked on once again.

    “Click—”

“Don’t move, inspection. Everyone, take out your IDs.”

As soon as the bodyguard opened the door, a group of Police officers rushed in.

The group of bodyguards was utterly stunned, but soon they all cooperated, squatting on the ground and taking out their IDs.

They remained calm. Not even a hint of panic.

Since the incident where Kong Tianjing was caught by the Police, Kong Biao had already collected all their guns and stored them in a rented apartment nearby.

That was precisely to prevent a repeat of Kong Tianjing’s situation.

So now, upon seeing the Police, none of the bodyguards expressed any concern.

As long as no guns are found in the room, nothing will happen to them.

Naturally, the soundproofing in the presidential suite of the five-star hotel was excellent. Kong Tianjing and Kong Biao couldn’t hear the commotion from next door.

    “Captain, we found something.”

A moment later, an officer emerged from the bathroom, holding two small bags of white powder.

When they saw this, the originally calm bodyguards’ faces turned pale in an instant.

At this moment, they all thought of that janitor.

“Take them back for testing. Bring everyone in for questioning.”

The captain coldly commanded. Drugs are absolutely despised in Longguo, and drug-related crimes are utterly unforgivable.

These six men were all tall and imposing. Anyone could tell at a glance they were not good company.

    “This isn’t ours!”

“If you want to explain, do it at the Police station. You’ll have plenty of time to talk.”

To the Police, the bodyguard’s explanation was just a weak and unconvincing excuse. No one believed them.

Whether it belonged to them or not would only be clarified after an investigation.

    Roughly half an hour later.

In the hotel room, Kong Biao received a call from a contact at the Police station.

    “What? Drugs?!”

When he got the call, Kong Biao was floored.

His first reaction was that this was a conspiracy.

And as to who did it, without a doubt, it was Xu Shaochen.

He had stored all the guns outside, in the rented apartment, exactly to prevent something like this.

He never imagined that Xu Shaochen would resort to such underhanded tactics. This was clearly done to disgust him.

“Alright, alright, I’m coming right away.”

After hanging up the call, a cold glint flickered in Kong Biao’s eyes as he left the room.

Once this matter was resolved, he would have to have a conversation with Xu Shaochen.

But he didn’t know that he wouldn’t get the chance.

After leaving the room, he knocked on Kong Tianjing’s door.

    “Second Uncle, what’s going on?”

Kong Tianjing opened the door, looking confused as he faced Kong Biao.

Kong Biao, with a grim expression, replied, “Something came up. I have to head to the Police station. Just letting you know.”

“What happened?” Kong Tianjing’s heart sank at the sight of Kong Biao’s sullen face.

Kong Biao gave him a brief explanation of the situation.

“Second Uncle, I’ll go with you,” Kong Tianjing said, almost without hesitation.

With the bodyguards gone and Kong Biao leaving, he would be alone. If Xu Shaochen made a move, wouldn’t that be extremely dangerous for him? Out of self-preservation, he decided to go to the Police station with Kong Biao.

But what he didn’t know was that he was walking right into his death.

Kong Biao understood what was going through Kong Tianjing’s mind, but there was no time to mock him.

A few minutes later, the two of them got into the Car and headed toward the Police station.

Having been to the station once before for Kong Tianjing’s case, Kong Biao was familiar with the route.

Suddenly, Kong Biao frowned and pulled the Car to a stop.

Traffic was blocked ahead, as a large truck was illegally making a U-turn at the intersection.

    “Damn it.”

Kong Biao cursed and mentally cursed the eighteen generations of the family of whoever was behind the truck, violating traffic rules.

He had no choice but to turn the wheel to the left and take a detour to the Police station.

According to the navigation, this detour route was quite lengthy, passing through an old district undergoing demolition before reaching the station.

That old district was precisely the one Xu Shaochen had bought, with Zhao Qing in charge of the demolition project.

About ten minutes later, Kong Biao’s Car entered the old district.

Due to the demolition work, nobody lived there. It was night, and not even the site workers were around.

    The surrounding silence was eerie.

Suddenly, Kong Biao slammed the brakes.

    “Second Uncle, what’s happening?”

Startled, Kong Tianjing, who had been playing with his Phone, looked up. Instantly, his face went pale.

A Car was parked in front of them, blocking the way.

Then, a person got out. Both Kong Tianjing and Kong Biao recognized this man. It was Liang Huan, the second young master of the Liang family.

At this place, at this time, with Liang Huan blocking the road, anyone could guess they weren’t here with good intentions.

Just as Kong Biao thought about turning the Car around, another vehicle drove up behind them, cutting off their only escape route.

The door of that Car opened, and Zhao Li stepped out, a cigarette hanging from his mouth, accompanied by his bodyguards.

A drop of cold sweat slid down Kong Biao’s forehead.

The bodyguards had been arrested. Now he was being blocked, and even the large truck making the illegal U-turn was all part of a setup.

He had thought this was Xu Shaochen’s doing, but now it seemed he had guessed wrong.

    “Get out of the Car.”

Suppressing the unease in his heart, Kong Biao told Kong Tianjing.

“Huh? Get… get out of the Car?”

Kong Tianjing was stunned, his legs trembling in fear. He couldn’t bring himself to set foot outside.

    “Coward!”

Kong Biao coldly spat out the word as he opened the door and stepped out.

Kong Tianjing gulped, his legs shaking as he followed suit, leaning on the Car door for support to avoid collapsing.

“Liang Huan, Zhao Li, what do you think you’re doing?”

Kong Biao coldly demanded. Inside, he was anxious, but he didn’t believe Liang Huan and Zhao Li would actually kill him.

After all, there was no reason for them to do so.

Moreover, if they really killed him, it would spark a conflict between the three families. Surely, Liang Huan and Zhao Li wouldn’t bear that responsibility.

But if it wasn’t to kill him, then why were Liang Huan and Zhao Li going to such extremes tonight?

It was the one question that left Kong Biao perplexed. He was trapped in a mental loop, unable to understand what they wanted.

“Second Uncle Kong, we’re here to send you off.”

Zhao Li said nonchalantly, looking at Kong Biao. Behind him, his four bodyguards had already drawn their guns and aimed them at Kong Biao and Kong Tianjing.

The bodyguards working for Liang Huan did the same.

In an instant, eight guns were aimed at the two of them. A single pull of the trigger would turn them into sieves.

Since they were headed to the Police station, they hadn’t brought any weapons with them. Now, they were defenseless and at the mercy of their enemies.

“How dare you! Zhao Li, Liang Huan, do you have any idea what you’re doing?!”

Kong Biao’s eyes were bloodshot. He couldn’t believe these two actually intended to kill him. Cold sweat drenched his back.

Kong Tianjing was even worse off, his face ghastly pale, and his pants soaked with urine.
