Chapter Index

“Hahaha, Uncle Kong, don’t you think you’re stating the obvious? We went through so much trouble to bring you out here, do you think we wouldn’t dare kill you?”

Zhao Li laughed loudly and looked at Kong Biao with a mocking expression.

“Why? Don’t tell me this is all because of the gold mines.”

Kong Biao gritted his teeth as he asked, though he didn’t believe Zhao Li and Liang Huan would do something so foolish.

But aside from those few gold mines, he really couldn’t think of anything else that could cause conflict between him and them.

“Uncle Kong, you’re dying unjustly tonight, but there’s nothing we can do. Let’s not make things hard for each other. We’ll try to make your end less painful, so don’t even think about running. You can’t escape.”

Zhao Li said helplessly. In his mind, Kong Biao’s death was truly unfortunate, perfectly arranged by Xu Shaochen.

    “Thud!”

Kong Tianjing suddenly fell to his knees on the ground, ignoring the gravel beneath him, and kowtowed frantically to Zhao Li: “Young Master Zhao, please spare me! I beg you, let me live! Remember when I… treated you to a meal? Please show mercy and give me a way out!”

    “Bang!”

Kong Biao lifted his foot and kicked Kong Tianjing to the ground, cursing angrily: “You useless fool! I don’t know how my brother gave birth to such a wretch like you. You’ve disgraced the Kong family! Are you really scared of death? Get up!”

    “I don’t want to die, I don’t want to die! Waaah…”

Kong Tianjing sobbed miserably while lying face down on the ground, looking utterly pathetic.

“Zhao Li, Liang Huan, I, Kong Biao, am not afraid of death. But do you even understand the consequences of killing me?”

Kong Biao spoke coldly, ignoring the disgraceful sight of Kong Tianjing below.

Zhao Li smiled slightly: “Uncle Kong, there’s no need for you to worry about your nephew. After we kill you, we’ll report it to the family ourselves and make sure everyone knows that it was me and Liang Huan who did it.”

“Wha… Why?” Kong Biao was stunned. He couldn’t understand Zhao Li’s strange logic.

“There’s no need for so many reasons, Uncle. Time’s running out. It’s time for you to go.”

This time it was Liang Huan who spoke. After he finished, he waved his hand.

    “Bang! Bang! Bang!”

Gunshots rang out continuously. Kong Biao was hit at least four times, and his body fell heavily to the ground, but he wasn’t dead yet.

Kong Tianjing, who was still lying on the ground, was shot in the head and died instantly.

Liang Huan slowly walked towards the twitching body of Kong Biao. He bent down, stuffed a half-smoked cigarette into Kong Biao’s mouth, and whispered, “Uncle Kong, I won’t let you die with any regrets. It was Xu Shaochen who ordered this. If there really are ghosts in this world, you know who to seek revenge on.”

Kong Biao’s eyes widened in disbelief as he looked at Liang Huan.

In his eyes, there was unwillingness. He was unwilling to die just like this.

There was also confusion. Why did Liang Huan and Zhao Li listen to Xu Shaochen’s orders?

But he no longer had the chance to find out, as he took his last breath.

“Phew~ Offending Xu Shaochen—it’s just bad luck for him.”

Zhao Li walked over and stood looking down at Kong Biao’s corpse.

“Clean up the scene, and let’s get out of here. If anyone else shows up, it’ll be troublesome.”

Liang Huan said as he stood up from the ground.

A few bodyguards rushed over with bags and began packing up the bodies of Kong Biao and Kong Tianjing.

About ten minutes later, including the Car Kong Biao had driven here, three Cars disappeared into the night.

    Two or three minutes later…

From behind a pile of construction debris in the darkness, a figure stepped out.

    It was Long San.

Long San glanced at the footage on his camera, where the faces could still barely be identified. He smiled and sent a text message to Xu Shaochen:

    “Boss, everything’s done.”

    ………

    Chen Yu Grand Hotel

Xu Shaochen and Chen Ju had just seen Xie Lin off.

With Xu Shaochen involved, the gold mine contract was a non-issue.

What’s more, Chen Ju had just promised that one percent of the revenue from one of the mines would be used to support Qinghua County’s educational efforts each year.

It must be said that this promise hit Xie Lin’s sweet spot, so the gold mine contract was settled smoothly.

As he watched Xie Lin leave, Xu Shaochen felt his Phone vibrate. He glanced at the screen and couldn’t help but smile.

“Xu Shao, what’s making you so happy? Why don’t you share the joy with me?”

Chen Ju teased Xu Shaochen with a smile.

Xu Shaochen put away his Phone and casually replied, “I just got a message from home. Apparently, two stray dogs barged into my house and got beaten to death. Isn’t that hilarious?”

“Uh… yeah, that’s pretty funny.” Chen Ju was taken aback. He couldn’t quite grasp why Xu Shaochen found that amusing.

How was it funny that two stray dogs broke in and got beaten to death?

“Your part is done. Now, isn’t it time for you to help me with my issue?” Xu Shaochen looked at Chen Ju and said.

Chen Ju raised an eyebrow: “What can I help you with?”

“Help me eliminate the Kong Family.” Xu Shaochen said each word clearly.

Chen Ju frowned: “Xu Shao, aren’t you overestimating me? It’s not that I don’t want to help, but I’m afraid I don’t have that kind of power.”

“Don’t worry. When the right opportunity comes, just help to speed up the downfall of the Kong family. Alright, I’m heading out. See you around.”

Xu Shaochen left Chen Ju confused with his parting words as he strode off.

    “The right opportunity?”

Chen Ju muttered to himself, shaking his head.

He figured that such an opportunity might never arise.

After all, a family like the Kong’s would only decline bit by bit, taking at least ten or even dozens of years to completely fall.

So, the ‘right opportunity’ Xu Shaochen mentioned wouldn’t happen anytime soon, in Chen Ju’s mind.

However, he couldn’t shake the feeling that something was off.

Xu Shaochen was always confident. He wouldn’t just say things recklessly.

Since he said it, he must have a plan.

Where did Xu Shaochen get such confidence?

Chen Ju couldn’t figure it out, nor did he plan on bothering with it further.

    “Ring, ring, ring…”

At that moment, his Phone rang.

The caller ID showed ‘Father.’ Chen Ju picked up: “Dad, what’s going on?”

“Something big just happened. I’m calling to inform you. The power dynamics in Jingcheng are about to change. Finish up the gold mine business and get back here quickly.”

Hearing that, Chen Ju frowned: “Dad, what do you mean? How could the power dynamics in Jingcheng change?”

The current rankings had taken years to establish. A single move could cause a ripple effect. How could they just change overnight?

“Kong Biao and Kong Tianjing are dead.”

    “What?!”

Chen Ju was instantly stunned. The first person that came to his mind was Xu Shaochen.
